Awesome Thank you Very helpful
Great video and very helpful - thank you!
Good video. Does this all apply to tenor as well?
Thank you 😊 On tenor, the foundation is all the same. The fingerings maybe a bit different.
Did one of these Fingerings helped you or is working better than another? Let us know.
How do you learned to get these notes out of your horn? Do you have any more tips and tricks for other players? Please let us know.
I meant between the mark 6 and Yamaha… no answer needed
Which saxophone do you prefer playing?
It depends on the situation. If I play with my Funk/ Rock Coverband, i need the Tenorsound and there I love it. In all other situations (solo or together with acousticguitar), I prefer the Altosax. What do you prefer?
I'm biased because I also play the Jumbo Java, but I like your sound better on the Jumbo. But if the mindi is more comfortable, I think that is also important since they are pretty similar in sound.
Thank you for your comment. I like both of them and pricewise the Jumbo is a nice alternative. If you’re able to, test the Mindi, it’s really nice. Even the altissimo is very easy on it.
A good quality instrument is a must. If you are serious in playing don't buy a cheap sax. I have a Yamaha YAS 62 and it plays beautiful. Yes It's expensive but well worth it.
Thanks for the great tips!
Also excessive saliva build up on the inside of the reed face can cause squeaking. Simply remove the reed, wipe it down and try again. Also diaphragm and embouchure control will prevent squeaking. Thats something that just takes time. Sometimes you have to be careful how you lay (attack) into a note. Sight reading can contribute to the problem. Sometime it is possible to spend more time concentrating on the reading than what you are doing with the instrument. All this stuff just takes time to figure out so don't give up..
Absolutely. Embouchure, and the way you support the reed with your bottom lip, and yes sight reading. Exactly what you said. When you know a piece by memory, you can concentrate on the sound.
You said too hard reeds tend to squeak, but for me it is the opposite. When reeds are too soft, I get a lot of squeaks especially when the reeds are getting softened by playing them „too long“. When I change to new reeds of the same strength, the squeaking stops.
You're absolutely right, but what i mean is: People/ Beginners (me included) tend to bite, to get a tone out of the horn if the reed is too strong for their "weak" mouthmuscles.
@ oh yes, if you use too hard reeds you need more air pressure. It happens to me too, that I loose my power and tend to bite.
I watch around 10 saxophone channels (beginner on alto sax currently; I mostly watch "Better Sax" and "Get Your Sax Together"), and I really hope you channel takes off. You have a lot of unique tips and a good personality. Look forward to more content!
Many thanks! This means a lot for me!
Didn't know JD played the horn
La A45 se escucha con más cuerpo que la theo según lo que escucho yo
That’s exactly the same that I perceive. But if you need a more focused sound, more „attack“, than the Mindi is right for you.
sehr cool
Danke 🙏
Admittedly I have a Sakshama MB2, but this sounds like a kazoo to me.
Probably it’s my playingstyle 😂 I think it’s not that bad, but you’re right, it’s very harsh.
Nice one What's the price?
In the morning it was 7.489€ and in the evening last Sunday it was 6.740€. Not really cheap, but 10% less is amazing.
What's the price for the saxophone
@@olamideagunbiade617 6740€
@@Paetty_music To naira that will be how much?
@ Ah ok. Google said that‘s 11501072,00 Naira
Please can you make a video on positioning of the mouth on the saxophone for beginners
I‘ll try if I can manage it before Christmas. I give my best :)
@saxophonespirit Thank you
@@Paetty_music I second this request! Embouchure is challenging.
Great demo, thanks!!
Nice positive video.🙂
In my saxophone, the lower octave key was not correctly centered over the opening. This sometimes caused a squeak and sometimes a kind of "rumble" (Quin Marry in the harbor) but not as usual with beginners on the low notes (B, B flat) but on the middle notes between G and D.
Very good comment, thank you. I didn’t know that, yet. It’s not always the players fault 🎷
Excellent video, very helpful, thanks.
tnx for the video
Once again a very fair test with comparable results. Thanks.🙂
Gotta love em, "ze germans"😂
Good test. Did you mean NUX B6 clip on mic? That’s the one I gig with and it sounds terrible in the test 🙈.
Hey, thank you :) It’s also my mic for gigging with the Alto Sax. I played it with the tenor only once, but I also think it sounds muffled. I tested every mode (green/ orange/ red) but with the tenor it sounds not great. But with my Alto, I love it!
Nice test where differences between the mics were made very clear. Thanks.
I have often battled with the absolute lowest notes. After my last gig I realized what was wrong. I had my sax hanging too low and one of the keys was hitting against my thigh instead of opening!
That’s a great comment! Thank you 😊 I think that’s a really nice thing if you figure out „what’s wrong“ by yourself.
some really useful info on preparation for this.
Good videos Patty. My issue with playing with DJs is most of them are idiots.
LOL!! Why is that?
@@danielorum1918 I’ve actually changed my mind on this subject . Not all DJs are idiots, just the ones who live near me🤣I know there are some brilliant, talented ,hard working DJ’s who deserve respect . I apologise for any offence, my comment may of caused.
Fair enough. Thanks for sharing. I am working towards playing sax with a DJ for the first time perhaps later this year or early next year..hope he is good to work with 👍😃
@@danielorum1918 I’m the same. How’s your preparation going?
@@BassNSax628pretty good. I’m practising jubel and saxobeat atm. Alto trying to improvise over random dance hits from Spotify. (It’s hard to do) Also practising all major scales and major pentatonic scales. In the practice room right now. Where are you in your journey?
Helpful video. Thank you, sir. Will share :)
Great information, thank you.
much salive can also make squeaking
Absolutely right :) Thank you for your comment!
Was useful 😁
I didn't want to buy it myself, but I got it for my birthday. It's actually a very good bit of kit and really works. I can now better concentrate on my tone. I don't use it with an audience, because normally there is a monitor in front of me. 😁
Thank you for your comment 🤗 At first I was sceptical about it, but now I used it a couple of years and I can recommend it to others. Nice that it works for you as well.
Reed position on the mouthpiece can also cause squeaks. Sometimes when adjusting the mpc for tone the reed can get pushed out of place so it’s a good idea to check it.
Many thanks for your great tip. I’m sure, that it will help some players, too! Thanks.
This video confirmed that I am on the right track. I’m a gigging saxophonist at the moment playing at venues. Jazz, pop and that sort of stuff. But I am practising being able to play as a sax-dj. Love your content.
Many thanks :) I wish you all the best for this next step. It is a lot of fun!
If the DJ is going to choose the tunes. eg Mr Sax o Beat surely he/She is going to have tracks with Sax already on them?
That’s obviously right :) but often locations want a „real“ Musician in addition to a DJ to heat up the audience. It makes a big difference if there is a guy behind a MacBook who press the play button - or if there is an entertaining musician. (With this I don’t want to talk the art of djing down!) So it makes sense for a DJ to have these tracks without a Saxophone. Normally the musician bring along these backingtracks. But you have to talk with the DJ if it fits in his set.
Great advice. Thank you.
sometimeschangiing the reed strenth
.YAMAHA ❤❤❤❤.

It would appear that you did not ‘tune’ the two instruments to the same note, hence why the Jupiter sounds a little off compared to the YAS23 (AS100). That said, the YAS23 is still the better instrument, regardless of the tunning! Thanks for sharing your experience with these two instruments.
Thank you for your comment. I did this video a couple of years ago and I hope, that I’m a better player now. And since one or two years I still play the YAS62, but the old one „purple logo“ and I love it. Have a nice day.
Very interesting your comparison. Thanks
