    Last year, I grew Chocolate Bhutlahs in top soil that was hard as concrete. The only reason I planted them there is because I don’t care for super crazy hots. I had insanely high yields, and got pictures and videos to prove it. People put too much emphasis on soil, and waste their time, money, and energy on trying to get their soil just right. You just have to learn the signs of what the plants need. They will tell you exactly what they need by what they do with their leaves.

    what i actually want to know about grafting is what limits there are in fruit types and how does either fertilizing or "health care" get done? can i graft ten fruits that fruit within 2 years even if they're completely different, say soursop,jackfruit, che berry etc etc? what about temperate vs subtropical plants? can those graft? and if i have an annona,a myrtacae or however it's spelled etc,what do i feed the plant? and same if its unhealthy somehow,how are we to tell if it's say a peach gene issue vs a mango gene issue? or whatever else.... sorry if those are stupid questions I'm just curious. i love the idea of grafting for various reasons but idk if i should or how to deal with those parts. also what if your grafts are drastically different in fruiting times? say one year vs 8-15 year? do they equal out? does one dominate? how's that go? can one experiment turn out multiple ways like first is a flop but second is success? like the first tree never even flowers much less fruits,could another graft actually fruit?

    • @dontdothisguide
      @dontdothisguide 15 дней назад

      There are no stupid questions when it comes to learning. Question "limits in fruit types" A) Grafting works best when the scion and the rootstock are closely related botanically. For example: many citrus varieties (like lemons, limes, and oranges) can be grafted onto a single citrus rootstock. But if you try to graft something like a jackfruit onto a guava, it’s highly unlikely to succeed long term because they belong to different families. Question "fertilizing" A) The rootstock essentially “feeds” everything above it. You’ll fertilize the entire plant according to the rootstock’s needs and the general nutritional requirements of the scions. A balanced or slightly specialized fertilizer may be used based on local soil conditions. If a particular scion shows signs of deficiency (e.g., yellow leaves), you can use a supplemental foliar spray or soil amendment targeting that specific nutrient. Question "health care" A) Any root-related problems (like root rot) will affect the whole tree. Leaf or fruit problems can sometimes be limited to a single scion, especially if it’s prone to certain pests or diseases. Keep a close eye on all scions, and treat them according to the specific issue at hand. Question "can i graft ten fruits that fruit within 2 years even if they're completely different, say soursop,jackfruit, che berry etc etc? " A) Grafting 10 wildly different fruits is typically not feasible. Question "temperate vs subtropical plants?" A) For the best chance of success, pair scions with a rootstock that thrives in the same climate. Questiong "Grafting annona and myrtacae" A) This in general is going to fail if you try to graft these 2 together Question "what if your grafts are drastically different in fruiting times?" A) Each scion fruits on its own timetable. A fast-fruiting variety may produce within a year or two, while a slow-maturing variety may take much longer. They don’t usually “equalize” each other; each branch follows its genetic programming. Sometimes a vigorous scion can outgrow or shade out weaker scions. Regular pruning helps keep the canopy balanced so all scions get adequate light and resources. ----------------- Grafting is partly an art-you might need to experiment with timing, technique, and rootstock choice to get the results you want.

    At the 4 min 30 sec mark you said "feed the plants not the soil". That's when I turned it off. That is exactly what is wrong with the way so many farmers and gardeners grow food. I suggest you research Korean Natural Farming or Natural Farming. It's catching on wordwide because of its effectiveness growing huge yields of nutrient dense food unlike your method of growing good yields of low nutrient food.

    Having just invested in quite a number of house plants, our first was this year 2024 1st August, ive learnt alot .. one tip to pass on is to use a water conditioner when watering house plants. Not all of the chemicals in tap water disperse over night if left to sit in the watering can. These chemicals whike good for us are not good for our house plants and a build up in pot medium can cause brown edging to leaves. Not pretty. I have also found that a water meter very useful in determining if a potted plant is dry or wet at the rot area. Especially helpful if the plant needs to dry completely before it is watered.
