Flopping (0:48 - 0:52) should not be allowed. That particular athlete is known for flopping and faking groin strikes (or injuries in general) in order to receive a break due to fatigue and/or because the momentum is not in his favor; he and his coach both know this (I know you’re reading this). If an athlete cannot continue for a certain amount of time (let’s say 30 seconds) the win should go to his opponent by default, even if the “flopper” athlete has a higher score. No one should reward athletes like that who lack integrity and most importantly, heart. Let’s be real, if an athlete really is *THAT* injured then you wouldn’t be able to move normally as if nothing happened. 2. Only strikes that land clean should be rewarded. At this point, this ruleset is merely a game of tag. The vast majority of Sport Karate athletes would not do well in a ruleset that allows knees in the clinch and low kicks.
