Can't deny the laser is very powerful in term of damage, but its limited area of damage will cause many troubles as the later sections of the game have waves after waves of enemies launching at us.

The sounds that I can still hear in my mind’s ear are the level end jingle, the Waterfall theme, and the noise in the Energy Zone.

So do I. I even remember I didn't have a colour TV back then. I beat the game without knowing the true colours. Maybe/perhaps that's why I remember the sound stuff well. I dunno.
