An "archive fever" is the growing need for the archive as prostheses to memory. Derrida specifically wrote on the "archive fever" as: "It is to have a compulsive, repetitive, and nostalgic desire for the archive, an irrepressible. desire to return to the origin, a homesickness, a nostalgia for the return to the most archaic." The archive that Derrida refers to is different from that of modern archives that have drastically changed over the past three decades though. Appraisal and selection processes of the archive have changed due to postmodern considerations of the archive, that further consider the future components; almost trying to remove the specter from the archive.

This is a very nice note. I wish I had a Kindle edition. I’d send it off immediately. The book has not been published yet. I’ve finished writing it and am now revising and cleaning it up. It now includes Kurt Seligmann and I've found out a great deal more than I knew when we did the interview. Thanks to recent exhibitions and well-deserved attention, the roles of Alice Rahon and Eva Sulzer have also become more prominent in the book. All are good changes. It's amazing to think that this level of insight , that would have most likely been lost forever, now captured, about an artist that seems at least under appreciated if not outright ignored.
