Fuji Pro 400h at night
In this video, I spend two nights shooting a roll of Fuji Pro 400h. I equipped myself with my Yashica Mat 124G and headed out for an incredible two nights. During this video I learned a lot. One monumental instance is that a night of long exposure photography takes a lot of time, planning, and the right equipment.
This video was a blast to make and I was so happy with how all of the photos turned out. Each photo came with a story to tell and a lesson to learn. Fuji Pro 400h is a wonderful film stock and it handled these scenes exactly how I expected and wanted it to. I will most definitely be looking to add more rolls to my film collection.
I hope you enjoyed the video! This video was a lo...

Shooting slide film at a botanical garden

In this episode, I head to Phipps Conservatory in Oakland, PA just outside of Downtown Pittsburgh. I came equipped with my Yashica 124 G and a dream! I had a blast shooting this location and my beautiful girlfriend. When I got these scans and developed roll back of the Velvia, I was absolutely blown away. Slide film is so cool! There is for sure an addiction to slide film slowly developing insi...

Shooting a vintage lens in a foggy beach town
Просмотров 2047 месяцев назад
I recently acquired a Canon FD to Fujifilm FX Mount adapter. This allows me to fit vintage Canon FD glass on my Fujifilm X-Pro 1. In this video I am testing the Canon 50mm f1.8 FD Mount lens on the X-Pro 1 and I must say the results are better than I could have imagined! Make sure to leave a comment about your favorite picture from the video and if you have experience shooting vintage glass on ...
A Relaxing Morning of Street Photography // STINKY PITTS EP. 03

Sit back and enjoy this relaxing pov of my beautiful morning walk around Downtown Pittsburgh. I brought along the Fujifilm X-Pro 1 to accompany me on the walk. Paired with the X-Pro 1 I have the Fuji 27mm f2.8 WR pancake lens. I enjoyed this morning walk and was trying what I would say to be a unique perspective on street photography. For most of the work captured in this video, I tried to crea...

i think the fucky light smears look incredible. dont fix whatever's causing them
Couldn’t agree more 🫡
The lights on your hat microphones may have done the trails??
I didn’t even think of that. That could honestly be it!
Nice Shots dude. do yourself a favour & get a Bay 1 lens hood for your camera. Again, nice job.
Thanks a lot! That is a brilliant idea, that was the exact thought I had when I got the scans. I will definitely be investing in one.
Youre overexposing. With Velvia you expose for the HIGHLIGHTS NOT the shadows.
I absolutely agree! It was still a blast to see these final shots though. Much was learned from shooting this roll and how to expose slide film correctly was one of them. Thanks for the comment!
Great video, what camera did you film this with?
What camera is the one used in the video???
🔥
Now this is what I call Street Photography!
Promo-SM 👇
Congrats! May I ask what kind of camera you used for the video recording?
Absolutely, it’s the Canon RP
Is this voice serious? Can’t tell
Congrats on your first photo book, man! Well done!
Robert thank you so much! It has been such a special project and I am so happy with how it turned out!
Fire photos man !!! Love my X-Pro 1 also. I been shooting mine w/ a TT artisans 25mm but, I just got the 27mm 2.8 and need to try it on the X-Pro 1. Can't wait !!!
You are going to love it! An absolute beast when paired with any of the X series cameras!
Does this work with the Pentax K1000?
I’ve shot it with the canon A-1 and AE-1 systems and it did work. I am sure that as long as the camera is sending power to the hot shoe it will work
Missing your videos man!
Idk if you still have the xpro1 but plz keep doing these. I dnt tlk about photography on my channel. Although I do have 1 and I'm currently getting ready to go on a photo walk with it now.
How was shooting manual on the x-pro1? A lot of ppl complain about the focus peaking
Personally I don’t mind it. When using a vintage lens and activating the focus peaking the objects in focus with have a sharp white outline around them. You bring up a very good subject for this. I’ll work on putting together a more in depth video about the complete manual work flow of this camera with vintage lenses. Thanks for the comment and hope the response was helpful!
That was very interesting video presentation. I wonder, however, why did you opt to get the X pro 1 instead of the X pro 2?
it loves finding red in everything doesn’t it 🥰
Some of the best results I’ve seen anyone get from the x-pro1. Really need that recipe!!
Was wondering what camera you use to record your videos? Seems smooth and nice colours! Thanks!
I use the iPhone 13 for my pov videos and to film this video. However, for other videos I have used the Canon RP
thanks mate!@@johnmcnie
Love these pictures! Sorry what lenses were these shot on? Thanks!
wow! are these jpegs? no post processing at all?!
Yes these are all jpegs. I did add some edits in post processing but it was mostly white balance corrections due to the heaviness of the fog
great flics John. really wish you hit the shutter at 26:47, would of made a great photo with the chaos and mist. keep the videos coming, I'm a fan.
Thank you and I am right there with you! I didn’t even see all of that happening until I watched the video back. I will definitely keep them coming I appreciate your support more than you know!
Love your aesthetic are your shots straight jpeg or do you shoot in raw ?
Thank you! I shoot mainly jpeg on the X-Pro 1
@@johnmcnie I came from shooting film only but I was looking for a digital alternative/ accompaniment Thanks for sharing your process just bought a xpro1 - so far really loving it :)
I'm from Pittsburgh! It was so enjoyable to watch this series. I've also recently acquired an xpro1 so I can't wait for the film sim/edit video. Keep doing what you're doing! Love it
I love to hear it Frank! I hope you’re enjoying the X-Pro 1 and maybe I’ll catch you in the streets in the Burg!
The shot of the person sitting in the park. 🔥
My favorite shot of vid! You the man Bobby! 🤙🏻
I shot the outside of that coffee shot on Central Ave before. Great place for window shots.
I had to leave... Great images... but I was getting sea sick watching the video.
Love the content & inspired. Gonna be getting an X-Pro 1 if I can find one! Definitely would love to know the the Portra/Fuji film recipe settings from the past videos as well 🙏
CAUGHT SOME DOPE FRAMES IN THIS VIDEO!🔥🔥🔥🔥
I AM DIGGING THE FIRST FRAMES BEFORE THE ACTUAL VIDEO!🔥🔥🔥🔥
I saw this on Amazon and was thinking about getting it, then came across your video ha. How do you like the outcome on your photos with it?
So worth the money! Gives the photos on the X-Pro 1 such a film-like look.
@@johnmcnie I bought it. It proved good use the other day, I used it in the daytime too. I still have to test it more in a dark setting but I like it a lot
Great to hear! I used it in a low light studio setting last week and it worked wonderfully. Keep putting it to the test it has yet to disappoint me.
Still waiting your fuji recipe for xpro1 since your last video 1 year ago
John, what lens do you use and what settings like shutters speed, wb an film simulations? Thank you in advance🙏🏻
I’m currently rocking with the Fuji 27mm 2.8 wr pancake lens. I try to stay around 1/125 and 1/250 but I’m experimenting with some lower shutter speeds for future videos. Working on a video for film sims and edits to share so stay tuned!
what film simulation did you use for this?
That was awesome! I own the x pro 1 and 2 :)
Thanks Friedrich! Which one do you like the most?
Great video again John 👏
Thank you very much!
please share your recipies you still dont share at after 1 year
Nice video, is that 27 f/2.8 WR lens?
Thank you! Yes it is
Well you had a few decent photos there but to be honest the video setup you are using is horrible for POV. Get yourself a go pro and a snap mount it will look so much better Also I can’t believe you went to Pittsburgh to do street photography and only went downtown You should have checked out a the strip district, lawrenceville and Especially south side
great video! Keep it up!
the video footage is so shaky, it's making me car sick "lol" othern then that, glad you're getting out there and shooting!
I appreciate the feedback! I definitely noticed that right away as well. Going to work on keeping the camera steady for future videos!
Nice to see a new video john. I have just purchased an xpro1 having seen your other videos. Are you going to make a video using the Godoy junior flash? I’m interested in purchasing one. Thanks.
Awesome you will definitely enjoy working with the X-Pro 1! Yes, I am planning to show off the Godox Junior Lux in an upcoming video.
Hi John! May I ask about your technique, it seems like you dont use your viewfinder and shot from a waist level? How do you get a nice focus without looking at the camera? From what ive heard from youtube videos AF on x-pro1 is slow and unpredictable, but your video shows its not that bad. Btw what lenses do you use here? Keep up the great work!
Absolutely, I definitely try to stay pretty discrete while I’m shooting on the streets so I don’t upset anyone I’m trying to snap a photo of. I do shoot from the waist mostly. However, there are times that I take a peak at the viewfinder to ensure the metering is where I would like it to be. Since I have the camera on the strap I typically let it hang down to my waist and act like I am fidgeting with it, when in reality I’m actually aiming it at my subject discretely. It definitely takes practice and I still miss shots here and there but once you really get a feel for the camera body/lens/focal length you are working with you definitely improve aiming from the waist. I have the X-Pro 1 paired with the Fuji 27mm 2.8f WR pancake lens. Great compact lens that is so incredibly capable and affordable! Thanks for asking such great questions and I hope this answer was helpful!
@@johnmcnie Hey, that was very helpful! Thank you very much for the answer. Now I have almost decided on the lens, too. Waiting for new videos from you. Have a nice day!
Subscribed. Hope to see many more videos on your channel.
Excellent vidéo, speech and shots
What a great colour ! Excuse me, how did you cook? Can you the next video about this color?
P R O M O S M 💘
That is so beautiful!
