Touring East Alicante, Spain!
Просмотров 6 тыс.День назад
The Eastern trip we’ll take you on today starts out at Albufereta Beach, which is one of our favorites so far in the area, on to the ruins of the ancient city of Lucentum and then to San Juan Playa for lunch and a tour of the beach area there. We were on and off the tram several times for this tour and walked around 7 kilometers for the day, which isn’t bad at all considering all the ground we ...
Plaza de Toros Alicante

Bullfighting, or corrida de toros, has a deep-rooted history and cultural significance in Spain. The Alicante Bullring, known as Plaza de Toros de Alicante, was initially built in 1847, with significant renovations completed in 1888. It's considered one of the oldest bullrings in the Valencian Community and Spain, reflecting a deep-seated tradition of bullfighting in the region. The bullring ha...

The "Other" Alicante Castle - Castillo de San Fernando
Просмотров 4 тыс.21 день назад
The City of Alicante is situated literally between two castles that flank the city. It's even part of the city's promotional material "Alicante, Between Two Castles". When you think of Alicante tourism the prominent thought that comes to mind is the visual of Castillo de Santa Barbara. But what about the “other” castle? Our apartment is situated directly in between the two, so we thought we’d b...
El Campello, Spain!

We had originally planned a bit of a further excursion this weekend but due to a few scheduling problems we chose to pivot and check out some of the sights closer to home. As is often the case in slow travel, a pivot quite often means you find some gems. And we did! El Campello is a beautiful city on the beach close to Alicante and easily accessible by tram. Fantastic beaches, deep history and ...

how is your AirBnB listed and is it also a long term stay? Looking to go later this year for 4 to 6 weeks. Thanks Ken
Hello! Our Airbnb link is in our Alicante Wrap video description. They do long-term stays - we stayed for 2 months. Great location and apartment.
Thanks for the forecast! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (air carpet target dish off jeans toilet sweet piano spoil fruit essay). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
Can you give the email to reach the owner or let me know how and where to get more info for this penthouse appointment ? Thank you I loved you video

Thank you for the wonderful videos on Alicante. We will be arriving in Alicante on Feb 9th and will be here until April 9th. We have written down your recommendations.
Thank you! We will definitely be back. We loved Alicante and it is the perfect mix of everything for us. Checked all of our boxes for a great winter getaway!
Hi, how much a week are you paying for this apartment?
Hello. We'll be sharing the link shortly in our Airbnb video so you can assess the prices at different times of year and for different durations. We were there for 2 months on off-season so it was a great deal. There are definitely nice options in Alicante though for month-long stays from $1500 USD and up.
@@itsthewinetalkin Me and my wife love it in Alicante, we visit multiple times a year and the place we always stay at has a rooftop pool. Staying there a month is usually in the region of 4500 USD. Liked the look of the apartment you're staying in and was interested in the cost.
@@ErickandJennyInSpain We love it in Alicante too, and will be back in the winter at some point. This apartment was less than some of the others we've been in due to the length of our stay and the time of year. We were closer to USD $3000/month. We did see quite a few others though that were less than that, but we're glad we ended up with this one.
Were any of your areas affected by the flooding?
No, it was well North of us, nothing here.
Another great video! It should be very lively on New Years Eve! I think they shoot a few fireworks off from the Castle, and people will be setting off a lot of their own (it’s loud!). Remember there’s a Spanish tradition of eating 12 grapes at midnight for good luck. Plus, on January 6 there will be a parade for 3 Kings Day on Rambla around 7 pm.
Thank you! That’s great to hear. We weren’t sure what to expect for New Years. Looking forward to it!

Hi we are also in Alicante over the Holidays from Ottawa, watching your videos, good job!
@@MichaelRenault thanks for watching! We hope you’re enjoying it here!
Nice vids... we are going to move to Alicante next month... I can´t wait...
@@CarlosLafuente-g1x very jealous! We love it here!
Wow
Can you please share the neighborhood that you would choose if you were to live in Alicante, and the reasons? Thank you.
That's a really good question, and I wish we knew all of them in more detail so we could make an informed decision. We really do like the center here, but I think for us longer-term it would be likely El Campello or Villajoyosa or one of the beach towns further out of the center. That being said, we are just starting to explore the Albufereta/Playa de San Juan area and have heard some really good things. I will reply with more information once we visit those areas more thoroughly over the next week or two. Thank you!
Beautiful space, do you mind sharing the link to the apartment?
@@christinecleavest9099 it is a great apartment! We will share the details of all of our European apartments after Spain. Thank you!
@@itsthewinetalkin thanks. I live in Madrid and recently explored Alicante for vacation and loved it.
We love Alicante and Villajoyosa!
@@joannefisher1248 this region is so amazing! We do too!
Beautiful. We love Alicante!❤
Thank you! We do too!
An observation. When you go to the castle, you have two options, one is to walk up the hill, or you have a lift that you can take in front of the beach, ask people if you can't find it. It all depends on the physical effort you want to make. Greetings to you.
We have family living in Alicante. We love it there
@@joannefisher1248 it’s amazing! We are loving it too!
I love this video, minimalistic but yet so insightful! Can't wait to my trip in January :)
@@dianastryzhak6392 thank you! You’ll love it!
Lovely video! Villajoyosa is really beautiful. FYI: the Valor Chocolate Factory tours go from 10 am to 1 pm and then 4 to 7 pm (closed for siesta, of course!). The 10 am and 4 pm tours are in English. You can book tickets online.
@@mikepreister thank you!
Great video! We've lived in Alicante for just over a year, and we love it. €2.70 for the castle elevator is not too bad, I always remind visitors that the castle itself is free! Sometimes we take a taxi if there's 3 or 4 of us, it's usually not more than €6, which is even less than the elevator. Then you can walk down or take the elevator down for free. Walking up is quite a hike! Hopefully you've spent time at Mercado Central. It's huge, and besides the shops, there are a lot of great little restaurants.
Thank you, and all great tips! We love the Mercado too and have become regulars at lunch at Aventurera El Rincon Perdido!
Just curious; were you able to pinpoint the suite you’re staying in, or at least the building, while you were up there? Thanks!
Yes! We took some pics that I will post.
A small question! I have planned for a long weekend in coming week. Wondering is there any impact or changes that you see due to the storm. I know it highly impacted Valencia not sure of the state in alicante. Could you shed some light on!
Hello! Yes, we were concerned also but it is absolutely fine here. We will avoid Valencia this trip but Alicante is fine.
Loving your video's of Alicante (one of our favourite city breaks). Would you be happy starting the details of the rental?
Hi Stephen. It is amazing here! We will share the details of all of our AirBnb's after Spain. For now, though, you can search AirBnb's around the Mercat Central d'Alacant and you'll find a lot of them like ours. Thanks for watching!
@@itsthewinetalkinlooking forward to the details as well🎉
@@veronical803 Thank you! We're working on it and it will include all of our Airbnbs from the last 8 months! This one in Alicante is near the top of the list, such a great place.

Well, shucks! Coffee and baklava for two weeks. 😂😂😂 My heart says enjoy 😊
It was so good!
Just found your channel! Hope you are having a great time in Alicante! Turns out we are also in Alicante for a month (currently starting our 3rd week) and have been enjoying all it has to offer. Make sure to take advantage of the tram up the coast. L’Albufereta has a wonderful archeological site (Tossal de Manises) and a beautiful beach in nearby San Joan. Enjoy!
That's great, and thank you for the tips. We are planning to take the tram later this week and we love archeological sites! Much appreciated!

Love the animal thing...
We do too! Fun to watch wherever we go!
On the insect report; what about the crawlers and hiders like spiders, ants, cockroaches and the like? Thanks!
Nothing at all really. We’ve seen a small spider at a courtyard restaurant one day, but almost nothing else!

Cheaper than Canada, but not as cheap as I expected. Maybe it is a resort like town and cheaper in larger cities?
Could be, but I think inflation has been across the board here.

@@Hatibovicfamily hi back! We hope you enjoy the travels!
Hi Heather & Dan....Enjoying your videos! I agree with you...Porto over Lisbon! Lots more to see in Portugal though, but maybe on the next trip. I am curious.....how did you come to the decision to do Portugal as your first choice for this venture? I'm definitely looking forward to your Ireland adventures. It's #1 on my bucket list and the only place I haven't seen in the UK. Will you be staying in Dublin or going out in the countryside to stay. From my research Dublin can be expensive if cost savings is in your plan.
Hi Sherry. We chose Portugal because I had gone there for work at one time and really enjoyed it. It's definitely unique compared to any other countries in Europe! We are staying mostly in Dublin but we'll be doing a couple of day and weekend trips to get around the country a little bit. Fortunately, nothing is too far! So far we've found the prices in Dublin to be a bit higher than we found in Portugal, but not nearly as high as we expected. The 23% VAT hits a bit hard though admittedly!
@@itsthewinetalkin I certainly agree that Portugal is different from many other European countries.....Less tourists when I was there. Good to hear about the pricing in Dublin though. My original plan was to do the Ring of Kerry & Wild Atlantic Way from Dublin to Belfast, and then hopping over the channel to visit some family in Scotland. But, depending on the time of year....I think much of that will be a tourist trap, so might have to head inland for part of the trip to visit the less travelled areas. It's a constantly revolving plan, which I'm sure you experienced when you started planning this trip. :)
@@sherryj7158 I think that's the best part. We never know where we're going to be after a few months! And we have already pivoted once or twice on short notice. Sounds like you've got a great trip planned.
wow - you really do get around on foot you guys! Love that you are taking the time to show us what you are seeing. I burst out loud on the Plastic Surgeon comment ... "not for me - obviously!" .. snort!!!
