Wow. Great vid and explanation. I played high school football in calgary and of course cfl rules, everything is shotgun and pass heavy. Well we were blessed with a huge oline and powerful runners. We were always in wishbone and unstoppable even if we had three downs we averaged 7 yards a shot. We got to provincials but fell short. Lol. Undefeated prior to that though. Hardly threw the ball. It tripped a lot of opponents out not being in shotgun.

Was feeling nostalgic about this era of college football and the wishbone and found this series. Very well done. I remember the Punt Bama Punt game in particular

I grew up an Oklahoma Sooners fan during the 80s. Both my parents attended OU and were there during the mid to late 70s. I remember asking my family who they thought was the greatest wishbone quarterback. My dad said Steve Davis, my mom said JC Watts, and I said Jamelle Holieway. Truth is…we were right.

I would have to say that the 1983 Nebraska team called the scoring explosion was one of the most prolific option I formations. Is there a difference between Colorado's option I bone and coach Tom Osborne's I formation offense?

I was an athlete at the University of Nebraska and I will tell you that without the Sooners, the Huskers wouldn't have been as successful. Oklahoma taught us that we needed faster athletes, so our recruitment choices and training changed. The Nebraska/Oklahoma football rivalry is sorely missed.Thank you Barry Switzer.

FUNNY. I'm watching the first handful of minutes of this video and I'm thinking, CeeDee Lamb, A.K.A. CeeDee G.O.A.T. (which is my nickname for him, which is just a "PLAY" on his last name. I want to see someone like the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL run the bone and see how it goes in the NFL. If you have equal player talent…. Why wouldn’t the offense dominate????
