Dr. Geisler is taking Romans 7:15 out of context. Paul is speaking as a Jew under the law who is unable to obey the law with his heart because he doesn't have the Holy Spirit. There may be other things he is off on, but overall Dr. Geisler has a lot of good teaching.

2. He forgave sins which only God can do. Mark 2v5-7. Any time I have heard this argument Mark 2 seems to be referred to. For some reason the same story in Matthew 9v 1-8 seems to be by-passed, could it be because v8 says "they marvelled and glorified God which had given such power to men.

1. Jesus claimed to be the I am in John 8v58. In verse 12 Jesus says I AM the light of the world. This is not claiming to be the I am. He is just stating something he is. In verse 18 he says I AM one that bears witness. This is not claiming to be the I am. He is just stating something he does. In verse 23 he says I AM from above. Again this is not claiming to be the I am. He is just stating where he comes from. And I AM not of this world. This is not claiming to be the I am. He is just stating he is not of this world. in v24 he says If ye believe not that I am (he) ye shall die in your sins. Here he is just claiming to be someone, and might just mean the Christ, God's anointed. We know from 1 John, that he that believes that Jeswus is the Christ is born of God. v28 When ye shall have lifted up the son of man then ye shall know that I AM (he). In v40 he calls himself "a man that has told you the truth which I have heard from God." In v42 he claims to be from God. In v54 he is referring to God as someone else. So in this conversation Jesus has already said "I AM" ego eimi six times, without the Jews trying to stone him. Twice the translators add "HE" to make more sense. This happens a few other times. For example the blind man said "I AM (he)." Not claiming to be the I AM either. The context shows Jesus talking as if he is not God and claiming to be someone, just as likely, if not more so, to be the Christ. In God's plan, Jesus would have been the Christ before Abraham. Thinking Jesus was claiming to be the I AM at the bush does not seem to fit the context. The fact that they wanted to stone him means very little because he had just said "why do ye not understand my speech" They were always misunderstanding him.
