a short out-take of todays flights in some pretty nasty wind. id previously been flying my axn floater for about 10 mins at WOT due to wind, it came down just nearby with a dead flat battery as i struggled to get it back to me on the upwind leg! after this crash, something was a little tweaked with a fair amount of left roll needing to be trimmed out. love the axn, very easy for a beginner to f...

    IDC what anyone says - Pound for pound one of the quickest commodores any factory holden team (before or after HRT) has ever taken to bathurst, equal even to the golden child - the quality of competition & lap speed of other competitors in the field at bathurst at the time was A+, just a podium finish by skaifey & GT would've been somewhat of a disappointment.. such a shame it never even made it to turn 2 let alone saw lap 2 or 161

    Skaife was the master of the H pattern gearbox in v8 supercars the way he could come off Conrod straight at Bathurst 3oo km/h into the braking area on the limiter then just as casual as ya like go from 6th to 2nd gear i never seen any one else do better smoooooooooooooooooth

    Yeah, they still had it but only on the later cars. Can shift on the limiter if you time it right and/or use enough force. Dunno about you guys but I miss the old H pattern box in racing these days :(

    @vlfreak the older cars had a H box, you can still flat shift as you pull the stick back so from 1st to second and 3rd to 4th, 5th to 6th when he goes accross the box he will use the clutch.

    I know this was 8 months ago - but the more cylinders the more friction. if you drop a high comp v8 like this down a gear and drop the clutch is easy to lock a wheel.

    v8sc have auto shift cut on the gear stick, so as you pull a gear it cuts the ign. for a poofteenth of a second to allow the shift thru, without lifting.. neat eh :) a lot of them used to just pull a gear as it hit the rev limiter too

  • @andrewdoyle88
    @andrewdoyle88 15 лет назад

    How is he upshifting without putting the clutch in? Its not SMG so he must blip the throttle and slam it in gear. I used to do that on my bike when dragging

    • @BarefeetB
      @BarefeetB 6 лет назад

      andrewdoyle88 sequential gearbox

  • @vlfreak
    @vlfreak 15 лет назад

    yeh it is in the v8sc at least.. often shifting on the rev limiter (7500) and in recent years they have devised a shift rpm-cut attached to the gear stick.. hence, hold foot flat, grab stick and shift.. theyve gone to sequential shifters now, but the same system is still in use for the shift-cut

    Wow thats cool! I race Toyota Starlet GT. Small time race haha. Speed never exceed 200km/hr on track. But I do practice alot of double clutching and heel/toe. Tried left foot braking on my friend's R35 and almost crashed it hehe.

    Well i;m not really a hobby race....more serious about it...i race formula cars and endurance stock cars in the JK-Tyre National Racing Championship (India)....i have tested F-BMW asia cars...but luck driving...no sponsors...just like many drivers around the world... :(...so wat do u race...?

  • @Archergod
    @Archergod 15 лет назад

    Wow what do u race? I am a hobby racer myself I dun compete in any major race. I get ur point though. Or rather we both has got a point here.

  • @aaronkimi86
    @aaronkimi86 15 лет назад

    no...the puropse to heal to is to avoid engine breaking...u are right when u said u have to match revs but that is done because if the rpm drops too low the engine compression will lock the rear wheels...and since all the weight is on the fronts whilst breaking the real will lock and spin when u leave the clutch...if the blip is done right the revs are high enough to avoid locking. so it is not just done to match the revs...but infact to avoid the rear end locking up...i race cars myself btw.

    • @BarefeetB
      @BarefeetB 6 лет назад

      Aaron D' Souza don't you mean if the engine rev is to high .

  • @Archergod
    @Archergod 15 лет назад

    Oh by the way I did say "the following LOWER gear" in my 1st post. =D

  • @Archergod
    @Archergod 15 лет назад

    Yeah absolutely understand. Other than braking heel/toe incorporates down shift and not upshift as u mentioned. U blip the throttle to rev match the next lower gear but as soon as ur heel leave the throttle the RPM goes straight down and defeats the purpose of heel/toe. Refer to 0.12-0.16.

    Racing cars is my dream

  • @Archergod
    @Archergod 16 лет назад

    Sometimes I wonder is there a point in heel toe since the purpose was to rev match the following lower gear. However in most race cars flywheel are lightened and as soon as your heel leaves the throttle the rev goes right back down even before you release the brake pedal. And example is on 0.12 - 0.16.
