Puzzles with a Senior who has Dementia
Your mom is so gentle with her laugh, when you correct her. I get accused of all sorts of crimes when I try to gently correct my mom, when she thinks I’m her mom. I’ve just stopped trying.
My mother has dementia too ... I need to talk to you regarding the same
This is what I am working on w mom this week,
Helpful, thank you
I’m gonna try these with the people I work with thx!
Blessings
💯🙏God bless your family ❤
Moms got dementia..id guess stage 5 or 6 and i see her get irritated with neighbors who make noises.i try to keep her routine regular as i can.
why are you talking to her like she's 3 years old 😭 or like she's a dog "😊 ISN'T THAT NIIICE" i think i would die on the spot
God bless her
The word games would only frustrate them. Please don't try. I speak from experience and know what i'm talking about.
Totally agree !
Agree. The OP’s mom is so compliant in these videos. She’s lovely. My mom is belligerent and refuses to do anything that she can’t make sense out of. I’ve tried matching games, the Oui Si game, crafts, having her “help” me, all are dismissed or her mind fabricates wildly inaccurate and inappropriate explanations for why what I’m trying to do with her is not right.
Ty so much for all of these great videos!!
👍 ty
Nice!! Love this!
Great job w/these videos!! Ty
I just love this!!
This made me tear up… I miss my mom’s cooking, her smiles, her advice… She has mod-severe dementia and it’s heartbreaking losing your loved one.
My 87 yr old great grandma just got diagnosed with alzheimers and im scared and been watching videos about it she still remembers most things but she starts talking and it doesn't make much sense

My mom can be very agressive, but the colored stickies may work.
My mom has dementia and I just found your account.great tips!may I ask what amount of time daily they should be engaged in these activities?until they tell us they are tired?or create a routine, like half an hour a certain time of the day? Me and my daughter we try and keep her engaged.also I think that painting would be nice and helpful right?
I don’t remember watching this video. (Like if you get is or smth)
Great videos i wish more people could see them. Our elderly deserve top quality care and love
Felt the same with my grandma 😢
I know what you mean.
I wish I didn’t live so far away from my grandma, I would do this all the time with her.
Awesome Great video… It’s unfortunate how many caretakers out there are taking care of senior citizens, and all they wanna do is put the client in front of a TV and hope they don’t ask for anything while they’re on their TikTok’s, or Instagram all day… Keep up the great work with the videos
My dad was so afraid of getting Alzheimer’s that he keep his mind busy remembering things from his life by typing his life events . He end up living to be 95 and passed away while I was by him and during hospice care. He never suffered from Alzheimer’s, but, rather passed away peacefully at 95 years old.
Sounds a lot like me rn, Im alr planning how i would tell the doctor to kill me alr when diagnosed with dementia
Very realistic scenario indeed 🙄
Love it so much! Thank you for spreading the word of how to work with people with dementia! These are wonderful!!!!❤
My mom can't do these types of activities anymore but wish we had them a year ago, they look great for keeping attention and focus
Depressing
❤❤❤
Love this
Bless you people❤
Thank you
That makes great sense!
Awwww❤
You are good ❤hi from Egypt
Have you ever tried silica to help?
I just found your chanel my wife has early on set Alzheirmers i really appreciate your teaching thank you🎉
Control
Explained well! Thank you.
My father is also living with dementia. Is it okay if he starts loosing his eye focus? Like he can't read a sentence completely. Sometimes he finds it difficult to wear his slippers.
Yes! This is also very important with patients who are blind also! ❤
Do they often forget after the attack and conflabulate that the person they attacked instead attacked them?
Dementia | Horrible disease
Yeah true
I would love to know where you found a nice 9-piece puzzle?! I have only found 13-pc or larger. Backward chaining with my mom with the 13 pieces is still too visually overwhelming. Any links for 9 pc or smaller? Thank you! Great video! 💜 ps I typed that before the video finished. Just heard you mention the link. Thank you! (Maybe it’s not available anymore?)
Thank you for making these points. These are good reminders.
