Good, they should close stores that are not profitable, they were spread way too thin several years ago. If a certain store loses money annually, it should be closed.

I have never experienced most of these games like how they were intended to be played like missile command with the trackball or any of the 5200 hundred games with a number pad. So it would be my first time to experience 5200 games the right way. I’m especially excited about the spinner! I also like how you can add roms (add your Intellivision) and they’re giving you all the new Atari games as they come out. I hope it’s a success

The screen is 16:9 meaning there's gonna be empty space in old games that could easily be used to display the keypad overlay on screen at all times. Now it has no means to replicate the Atari 5200 analog but from what I know, A5200 games that actually use the analog functionality would be better played with a paddle or trackball

The 5200 was a fantastic system. However..the best games on the system consisted of games Atari no longer has the liscense to. The only 5200 game that extensively uses the keypad, and is owned by Atari is Star Raiders.

I cynically joked right before CES kicked off that the worst case scenario would be to find out the numpad was basically just there for "Star Raiders". Incredibly, that's literally the only specific example a MyArcade rep gave in one of the Q&As I've seen from the event. I like the hardware in a vacuum, but the way MyArcade just let their entire GSP showcase from CES 2024 unceremoniously go up in smoke, quietly quit supporting the very well received GSP, and are now asking us to pay $150 + plenty more for supplemental controllers, basically just for a little trackball and nearly an indistinguishable game library, is insulting. Whether My Arcade needs to have a bigger appetite for the potential of its own products or Atari needs to budge more and release more content to MyArcade, *something's* gotta give here by the time this product hits the market. Of course there's the unspoken angle, which is that a lot of the unit's features (along with those of the supplementals, especially that beefy arcade controller) are geared primarily to the unit's expandability. Which I guess is fine except that it suggests this stuff will be subject to the same ephemeral support the GSP was. I don't *want* my retro gameplay at home to be entirely rooted in something like RetroArch or RetroPie, but a product like this that's high on power and physical features but low on games and ongoing support is the sort of thing that'll drive me to that point.

Just stopped by to say the thumbnail doesn't jive. It looks good and professional, but any arcade fanboy would be playing Crystal Castles with the available trackball, not the joypad :(

No Intellivision games still doesn't mean no Intellivision. The original Atari Gamestation Pro didn't advertise being able to play Sega and Nintendo games off SD card but it could. We currently have no idea what emulators are under the hood. Sure, updates can and will add more stuff, I'm surprised you didn't go into what shocked me - the Recharged games (and Balls of Steel) ported natively to it. Centipede Recharged to be included and others to be added via updates and apparently for free. Jaleco - pronounced Ja-le-co. Japan Leisure Company.

I’m not a fan of these 70s styled updates to the console design, it doesn’t blend well with the futuristic vibe of illumination imo but that’s just me. Also it’s confusing to even have the Atari logo on it since Atarj only licensed the name to MyArcade to market it as something it’s not which I find not only confusing but deceptive and at the cost of yet again the Atari branding and name just for a quick buck.

Jaguar uses a number pad too right, not sure of the power of this unit but judging by the 50th Anniversary, emulation isnt pretty much great for that now? Nice video, but really it feels like Atari bring out the 2600 catalog yearly im very past it.

The main issue with Intellivision games is a lot of them were two player only. I don't see the issue with the numberpad though. We've successfully managed to work out what the buttons on SNES roms and the like do over the years without much hassle. Worst case scenario is that it'll take less than a minute of googling! I have to say it'll be fantastic to have a handheld that has a decent layout for Intellivision rather than the clumsy solutions we've had in the past.
