    The major theme of this film is unsettling; and it is not that obvious ones typically stated as "the closing of the West or the quote ""when the legend becomes fact, print the legend." Instead, it is that civilization is built upon blood, and uncivilized behavior begets civilization. Out of chaos order comes only with violence.

    Thanks for making this video, neiman is truly underrated fictional character. His themes, peaks, conclusion, message is really complex and vast underlooked in every way. He is a russian classic novel level character. His man vs self philosophy Neiman vs social morals Neimans insanity absorption Neimans deep fall in obsession Neimans narcassistic face Neiman and the devil Neiman and the bird Neimans sacrifice How he is relatable to many ppl in world Litreally most underlooked character. He actually needs lots of attention. I can explain his character analyses for hours and still can fully understand him

    The opening Statement, "The "Wild West" existed from 1865-1895" is ridiculously inaccurate, not even remotely close to the actual Historical record! The Western Frontier West of the Mississippi River began with the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. After that came Lewis & Clark 1804-1806; the mountain man era 1806-1840, settlement of Texas, 1820-1845, the Oregon Trail era 1834-1870's, the Mexican war acquisition of the rest of the American West, immediately follow by the California Gold Rush of 1849, leading to other pre-Civil War gold and silver rushes in Territories that became Nevada, Colorado, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Arizona, and New Mexico. The era of the "Sixgun-totin Western Frontiersman" began with the introduction of the 1851 Colt Navy .36 revolver during the California Gold Rush days, so the "Wild West" was alive and kicking WELL before 1865! Would suggest you read MEN TO MATCH MY MOUNTAINS (1956) Irving Stone, as an introduction to the real "Wild West", just to get a realistic basic perspective on the genuine Western settlement.

    It is the conflict between law and lawlessness. This film, and "Shane," show the coming of CIVILIZATION.

  • @jnagarya519
    @jnagarya519 Год назад

    It wasn't the "death of the west". It was the establishment of law over the lawless west. It you pay attention you'll see the conflict (also in "Shane") between the "freedom" of corporations (cattle barons), and criminals, to run roughshod over the majority of ordinary people, and the freedom of the latter under the rule of law. The Founders established the principle; this is from the New Hampshire state constitution of 1784: ""Part I.--The Bill of Rights "Article I. "III. When men enter into a state of society, they surrender up some of their natural rights to that society, in order to insure the protection of others [AND OF ONESELF]". "Rights," "liberties," are established in written law, as are both protections of them -- and limits on their exercise for the protection of others' "rights" and "liberties".

    The late Charlton Heston in a film that hits very close to our current reality Based on the novel by Harry Harrison and directed by Richard Fleischer Would the public still care of the truth came out?, maybe one social class does eat another, it's harder to ignore the consequences of our actions, where do we find god in such crises?, it's easier to eliminate those who know too much Heston works so well here as usual given he's done several apocalyptic projects before The film is also infamously known for having one of biggest twists forever changing the genre Heck it even influenced future projects like 'The Matrix' and 'Snowpiercer' to follow similar ideas This film truly echoes many of the same concerns we have right now like overpopulation and destruction of natural resources The homeless live in poverty or desperation, we are forced to eat processed food by big conglomerates, the energy crisis forces people to ration electricity while the wealthy reside in their climatized apartments Of course a few problems still exist here given how poorly the female characters are treated making them content with being property making society that much more patriarchal It's hilarious that think that law enforcement uses pickup trucks to scoop up rioters to maintain order but it's not impossible to see that citizens will cause an uprising afraid that food is scarce 50 years later this movie remains as relevant as ever even if the world building is distracted by uneven pacing and melodrama It got several things right as far as climate change/global warming, meal replacement, hiring people as "furniture" (escorts or companions), consumer goods being shortened (our world since the covid pandemic has had difficulty tracking down cheap amenities from gas to baby formula causing consumer irritability), and exercise bikes (something to put our lockdown anxiety at rest but not to run electricity) Although not every prediction depicted is 100% by todays standards Given that though, 'Soylent Green' is a simple easy-enough-to-understand film very grounded in reality
