Back when crown WAS crown!
Holy cow, that crescendo just gave me chills!
epic
Horns so good they sound like a synth
Sounds organ like to me
Reflecting at the end of another DCI [’24] season, it’s nice to cleanse the palate, with some prior year shows. Last time Crown medaled in consecutive years [’16 & ‘17], and this was a hella opener. Minor chords never sounded so good🎼👍
So nice to realize that crown can use a part 6 years later and Make it fit so well into the show.
I got chills out of my mind, holy crap.
Why is Bach great? There are many reasons, but, chief among which, the fact Bach's music sounds great with any arrangement.
YES
I haven't listened to this specific hit for quite some time. All I can say is that the goosebumps started early...my brain took over and about two seconds before the "God Chord" hit, I was starting to feel the bumps. Awesome hit, and it served well, with a few modifications, as a reprisal/closer. Crown for life!
YES YES YES YES YES!!! One of the best opening impacts in DCI!!!
Crazy that they had the crown set so early in the season (presumably July 4th) considering they didnt add it in 2023 until Allentown iirc
Sooo Hollywoodian... really horrible. Only Americans can appreciate this kind of stuff. Poor JSBach.
holy shit
copying cavaliers 2011
I need bigger speakers
my band is struggling to play fugue in g minor sitting down how the hell is this possible
Isnt this part of their warmup/tuning sequence as well
Well it’s an awesome sequence so I don’t see why not. A lot of ensembles (e.g. high school bands) use Bach chorales as warm ups, albeit much less exciting than this.

This is my fav hit from Carolina Crown, but I can't get the entrance of the drumline and tuba out of my head. For some reason it always sounded, to me, that they came in frantically and too fast for the first bar or so before settling into the correct tempo. If what I'm hearing is in fact the case that, to me, would be the main reason they didn't win in 2017. If their entrance was smoother and more relaxed this would've been a hit for the ages.
This looks like an early season recording. Not everything will be perfect in this. Unless you’re talking about them during finals, then disregard this.
@@GH_percussion sorry to bring you back after so long, but the sound of the higher brass is slow to the hands. This also happened in the Vanderbilt show, so I think it was a core problem for the group throughout the season. Even in the final recording it sounded like either the high brass was slow of the low brass was quick, and by the video of here and vandy, id say it was the high brass.
The transition to the Cm9 is so satisfying
whoa.
whoa.
@@loganjohnson8010 whoa.
When they hit that Ebmaj9 oh my god
Bruh les F*CKING GO
Who’s still coming back to this 4 years later cause just… holy shit.
Guilty.

0:57 the god chord
Muted out the damn fireworks yessirrr
Carolina Crown has the best horns in all of DCI...
Indeed, they do
fr its just.. too good😫✋🏻
Yeah that's kinda their thing
Look, I generally like the Carolina horn lines; and coming from a Regiment horn alum - we won horns, won marching, won GE, we won CG, and I marched 4 years: I have heard phenomenal BD horn lines - and sometimes the BD horn lines (on an off night) that were poor at executing. In DCI there are ALWAYS a few very good horn lines, and to catch any one of them on a hot , hyped up night is a gas, but please, just like everyone else...Carolina plays out of tune, they phase, they have has attack and release errors, commit mental errors, sacrifices quality for volume JUST LIKE OTHER lines. They possess no magical God bestowed talent, it is all just hard work. BD, Regiment, Cadets, Carolina, have all got some incredible players - and some plain average players too. The magic is getting "average" to sound like a PRO. I don't care for Michael's arranging style, or the repertoire choices, but the lines usually play quite well (often times too percussive for me), but I like their execution overall. Every season, and often times every show, some horn line will play above their ability, and some will have a bad night. If all these lines only had to play in a semi-circle and not march, the top 8 lines sound pretty darn good at the end of the season. Making a mistake is nothing _ The Canadian Brass makes mistakes every night ---- but failing to create passionate, soul moving music...now that is a crime.
This and Rach Star opening will forever be the best
Valeria Nevarez Relentless, E=MC2, and Beneath the Surface ain’t too shabby either.
Inferno hit??
0:45 I was like damn this soon?!
Sébastien JeanPois yeah the whole point of the crown set that early was to subvert expectations and “deconstruct” a Crown show.
Bach would be proud
Micah Lall-Trail ok
@Micah Lall-Trail ok boomer
They talking to much dang aint this tru
Out frickin' standing!
Bruh, 100% trip down memory lane. I remember playing this concert.
Crown opening hits give my life purpose
I don't think people realize this is the greatest opening hit in all of DCI
Miles Keaton it’s a little comparable to their 2008 show, but nonetheless they’re both fucking insane
Toccata and fugue hits hard
Crown 2011
Miles Keaton vanguard 2018?
IThe opening hit to scv scherazade 2014....
Mellophone nut oml
I feel like such a nerd as it makes me think of MegaMan Juno.
3rd movement?
Chills
Holy smokes! They way they move from the fugue in to those chords and the ending-Stunning arranging!!!
jakemf1 EXACTLY
I'm pretty sure it's they switch from the little fugue to a variation of the tocatta in d minor(listen to it) even ending on a Picardy third. A true tribute to the master.
Especially the contra part
Vocals are nice for the ballad, but they should tone it back more for the rest of the show.
no offense to the singer, she sounds wonderful but it does the show no purpose for the focus is to be towards the drum and bugle corps not from singing. there should've been a mellophone melody instead of vocals. it would raise CC score up higher but if the singing continues it would most likely hurt their chances of being in the top 3 if not the the top 5. CC of course will win brass, percussion will place very well, colorgaurd is good. but the singing will hurt CC on overall general effect for this isn't star search or American Idol. This is DRUM CORP INTERNATIONAL.
Couldn't they have found a singer who didn't have Rachael blooms voice?
idk why but that low brass lick at the end of the ballad is like the period at the end of a sentence. and it gets me everytime whoo
Is it just me or does it look like the drum major and the corps are way off at the beginning?
It’s most likely the distance that the sound has to travel versus the time that the light has to travel plus the fact that Ross is conducting in halftime.
That's always how it is, that's the reason you have to watch the drum major, sound travels slowly. If you were to spend the whole show listening to those around you or even worse, the front ensemble, then you're going to be off because it takes so long for sound to travel to you. In the same sense it always tskes the sound longer to travel to the stand and it looks like they're slightly off.
*announcer* The fitnessgram pacer test is a.....
