Very nice. Wonder the sticker price in 72 ……
I think I'd put the rally wheels back on it. My friends parents had one in light yellow just like this one that had the color keyed rally wheels, and it was sharp - his dad always kept it spotless. My aunt/uncle had a white '68 Buick Sports Wagon with glass panels in the roof like this Vista Cruiser, and I have good memories as a kid in the back seat looking through those glass panels.
Junk
Built like a hot wheels car
JDM cars are very good at making small space seem big with windows and great visibility, as well as lowered seating position
Same switch gear as my 99 W202
I passed my drivers license test in one of these. My parents bought it new in ‘72. Ours was a 350, but still an excellent car. GM quality went down after this year. Great to see this! Brings back memories!
beautiful
Dad bought a 1967 w/ a 330. It came with a 4 barrel but he told the dealership to disable the four so that it ran only on two because of two kids who would drive it. Little did he know the gas efficiency would drop....motor-heads would know why!
is it the srt with the supercharged v6?
I'd buy that tank in a heartbeat.
That's 1 sweet vista cruiser, love that color. That is a knockout restoration, long live the long roof!
AMEN!
THE definitive American Wagon, IMO.
Boy I remember when these were new! It’s the last year of the real Vista Cruiser. I worked at an Oldsmobile dealership in the mid seventies. We had a couple of customers who had these.
It was great to see this wagon at the MCACN show as the long roofs don't generally get the  but this one sure did and rightfully so.
Pontiac had double wiper arms in some years in the sixties on the cars with non-parallel wipers. I can remember one illustration in a booklet of their showing rain and the wipers. This didn't apply to the intermediates, though.
nice very very rare car, nice to see some thing ,besides every muscle car ever built
That wood grain dash is from a Monte Carlo not a Chevelle. Also the cowl Induction door closes when you start it and opens when you stomp on the gas pedal. Are you sure this Guy owns this car?
10:44 What the heck was that? LOL!
Very high quality restoration..! Absolutely beautiful...!❤
The double arm wiper was first seen in 1968 on some GM cars. It was standard equipment on our Chevrolet Biscayne wagon. It allowed the wiper to sweep closer to the A pillar. The wipers were "hidden" behind a raised cowl on the hood.
I grew up with one of these, my parents had the "rocket" V-8, not the 455. I noticed that you have 1973 hub caps and the area below where the spare tire goes is a small "bump", sort of where you see the shape of the spare tire, just left of the of the right rear tire is, it was painted black to hide it. You should really just use some gloss spray.paint like they did. It kept the right side of the wagon lines looking straight! Best one of these I have seen in years!
Those are actually correct wheelcovers, which were used on the 1972 and 73 Cutlass models. The 1974 through 77 actually used wheelcovers similar to the '71.
I won the Chrysler troubleshooting contest in 93.😊
They had the MKIV Rat Motor all ready to go for the'65 model year. T liked the "W" motors but the head & piston design were a little lacking in the factory configuration. These issues were addressed in the MKIV motors. Had one 409 W motor and several 427 MKIVs. Liked them all.
Thanks for shareing more racing history,l lived through these amazing times, back when cars were more fun.
YES, MCACN Show was great and I have more great stories coming. Thanks for watching and commenting.
We had troubleshooting contest in 74 Glen Este High School the good days
In 76 i was a part of a troubleshooting team from Michigan. My high school Auto classroom looked like a scaled down dealership. We had a "0" hour class, started 1 hour before regular school and class lasted for 3 hours. We worked on the teachers vehicles, student vehicles, friends and family, including a alignment rack.
I wonder why they didn't mass produce the z-11 ,427
That driver's side windshield wiper with "two arms" is an articulated wiper that pivots the blade to cover a greater area. Our 1969 Ford Thunderbirds (we bought 2 new: a Sports Coupe and a 4-door Landau Brougham) had a similar mechanism. Stunning Vista Cruiser, by the way....
Thanks for the explanation. I thought that may be the reason however, I had never noticed that type of wiper arm. YES what an amazing wagon. Thanks for watching and your feedback.
My 68 Impala SS had that articulated arm. It did, in fact cover an amazing part of the glass, but chattered something fierce!
Final year for the true Vista Roof, for both this car, and the Buick Sportwagon! I believe '72 was the first (or maybe second) year for those mirrors on A bodies. But I thought none of the Super Stocks were available on the Vista Cruiser - I just saw a video the other day featuring some Olds literature, and paused and was able to read the wheel options page, and it seemed to say full wheel covers only. My Aunt had a '70-'72, in the copper-ish brown, with woodgrain. Excellent video!!!
I have never seen sports mirrors on a 72 Vista Cruiser.
@@japanjack62 I just looked at some early '70s Olds brochures, and the one from '72 says "Super Stock Wheels available on all Cutlass models except wagons." And I also didn't see where the dual racing mirrors were available. Under options, it listed only a remote controlled outside mirror as a mirror option, so these my have been added. But the dual racing mirrors started becoming popular in the early '70s.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I had a green one back in the '90s. Also had the 455. Didn't have the third row seat, but had power windows and posi. Great, comfortable ride. Lots of room. Good fuel economy. TONS of power. One of my top three favorite cars that I've owned!
Hey man, I have a 2 door. Any idea where to get rotors?
I've heard you can machine a set of 03' to 07' Cadillac CTS rotors and use the old hub.
I get the plate!
Looks like a regular tag so it’s an everyday driver Today vehicles are way more complicated than needed other than engine fuel management Who needs to have a power window button that sends a signal to the PCM (power control module) that then send a signal to a relay that energizes to operate and operate the window up or down. They are using a middleman to do a simple operation ( why ) the complication of a simple request ? Anyway enjoy the simplicity of an era vehicle that was easy to fix and maintain a car.
I believe that there were several foreign car companies that benefited from Ralph Nader’s silly comments.
its not called Alcantara, it's called Race Tex.
✌️😎👍
That thing is jaw drop gorgeous! 😍Hands down the prettiest Vista Cruiser I've ever seen!
You are absolutely correct.
But it's a Vista Cruiser. The Cutlass Cruiser was the cheaper flat-roof wagon IIRC. The Vista Cruiser also had a longer wheelbase than normal A body wagons. Only Buick got to share the Vista wagon body/chassis, calling theirs the Sport Wagon. I'd love to see a Pontiac version...
@@DanEBoyd Oops, my mistake, meant to say Vista!
The 327 was a great mid size engine, powerful, reliable.
Beautiful 49👍. I own a 53 Chevy truck my grandfather bought brand new in 1953. He handed it down to my dad and my dad left it to me. I'm 62 now and have owned the truck for 29 years with zero plans to sell it. I had it restored and changed the drivetrain to a more modern set up so my wife and I can tow our 19' airstream around western states. Lot of memories in this old truck. Nice build on your 49👍
Beautiful
Best color, this thing is so cool
The 300hp 327's in '63 were quick and reliable, the 409's were known to blow up when ran hard, thus few survive today as originals.
Beautiful car
Should always be parked in gear
So cool!
I remember when these came out on 1970. I was 15 yrs old and I wanted one so bad I could taste it! I still think they’re one of the coolest cars to ever come out of Detroit.
SWEET !!
i worked at that chevy dealer years ago
Guess I thought we were going to hear the inside story on the 70 Judge.
You will. I have a Story Behind a 1970 Judge that will be posted but I wanted to show the variety of cars at the show. Thanks for watching and your comment.
