Just got mine few things here up and down but I love it lol
The only thing of quality on those SN 95 is the engine.
Yeah, I got one recently, and originally, they told me it was the starter, but the actuator pin had slipped out, which is what was actually causing it to not start. Did not realize this until I got it home and started tinkering with it over the next few days
I have a 1998 mustang, it sounds awesome it's only a 3.8l . Flowmaster 40 mufflers. I also had to have a computer for the ac, it now works, I also have learned how to replace my window regulators you also have to know how to adjust the window brackets so that the window doesn't do what yours is I just saw on your video.
That video is crap u didnt show nothing dum dum
What coolant would you recommend for a 2007 WRX 2litre JDM , Automatic transmission car?
Any oat based coolant, it’s usually pink. Also Subaru oem
Just don't
im looking at a 06 wrx it looks mint in terms of body rust and how well its taken care of and maintained. only concern for me is it has 200k km on original engine. how long do these engines go for if properly taken care of and not beat on?
200k to 250k, 300k if driven well. If he maintains the car well then you can assume the engine might last a bit longer..
Awesome, thanks for the video
This car needs a lot of work for sure
First thing to do is make sure it's a Cobra.
i hate my v6 i only like it cuz it’s somewhat reliable
Looking at a 2004 , that the guy selling says turns on and all but needs a new clutch .. and has engine code for 02 sensor … they are asking 3k . Haven’t gone in person this video helped a lot , but think for 3k it’ll be worth it ? It’s at 175k miles. I’m not looking to build or mod just wanted a temporary car that’s AWD and manual . I’d go for a truck but those things are so expensive Rn. I’m actually a Honda guy… and after my Honda reliability experiences , I’m paranoid to buy anything without the Honda badge lol
That’s a good bit of miles I would see if it’s ever been rebuilt. He’s not far off but expect a lot of work ahead
My 22 wrx is almost at low level coolant, cars only 6 months old 7k miles although I’m located in socal desert 115-119 degrees in summer
The red one is horrible, just walk away..
One BIG thing to look out for when looking at a 1994-2004 Mustang Is the front frame rails, the pinch welds, and the K member (the support that goes under the engine) These cars are still based on the Fox platform, which is one of the worst designs Ford ever came up with. Even though it is a unibody car, most unibody cars do have heavy steel frame rails welded to the floor pans front to rear. The Fox platform does not. And the short frame rails it does have are made out of basically the same thin metal as the body. So is the K member. There are basically no jacking or lift points on these cars that won't cause a fair amount of damage other than the rear axle and front control arms. I have seen so many of these cars with the short front frame rails, pinch welds, and K members smashed in. These cars flex like a wet noodle. You can jack up one front wheel off the ground by jacking from under the control arm, and it will twist the body so much the doors won't open and close. If you find one that doesn't have significant undercarriage damage, you can have subframe connectors welded in, and I highly recommend it. Ford should have built them that way to begin with. On the interior, the biggest issue is the power window, door lock, and mirror switches. If you are buying a car this old, you can be pretty sure those switches have been replaced several times. The plastic panels that the switches attach to the doors with using small plastic tabs also break very easily. Under the hood, on the 4.6L engine the spark plug threads are prone to stripping, and the plastic intake manifolds, especially pre 2001, are prone to cracking, causing coolant leaks. On the 3.8L V6, the head gaskets are prone to failure, because that engine uses a cast iron block with aluminum heads, and when heated, cast iron and aluminum expand at different rates, putting a lot of stress on the head gaskets. There are newer aftermarket gaskets that work a lot better, but it's an expensive job. On V6 automatic models, the pin that the cruise control cable attaches to on the throttle body tends to break off. You cannot buy new or rebuilt stock throttle bodies for these engines, and aftermarket "performance" ones are not a perfect fit. On the exterior, obviously look out for paint mismatch. Any paint mismatch on metal parts means a part has been repainted. And it can be very difficult to tell just how serious any accident damage was. It might not be a big deal, or the whole car may have been totaled. Expect the clear plastic headlight covers to be so badly hazed that very little light can actually get through them. They can be polished, depending on how bad they are. Otherwise they will have to be replaced. On convertibles, if it still has the original top, it will likely be in really bad condition. They have a glass back window, and the weight of the glass tends to rip out the seams holding it in place. New tops are NOT cheap.
You actually have to turn car on and have the ac on hot and full blast and you have to rev it up to 3k and hood it for a min and repeat till you see no more bubbles
Thank you you saved me a lot of hassle
I’m buying a 98 GT today has 125,000 miles on it I hope I enjoy it and get a chance to do some mods to it so I can get maximum performance
Those cars also had shat ass odometer, many of these cars that show 150000, are probably more like 250000.
Wrong badge too, that is 94 95
This helped out a lot! Thanks bud
Hey brother amazing video you got yourself a new subscriber, Was wondering what if the car has about 130k miles on it and looks stock but might’ve been Beaten on in the past Is it gonna be safe if it passes all these checks, the engine seems to sound good and I take care of it (proper maintenance and no modding) Would I run into major breakdowns in the future?
How is the reliability on these compared to honda and toyota ?
It's 1 of 2 ways. If you don't ride them hard and dog them out then as long as you stay on top of maintenance and allow the oil to warm up before driving, make sure coolant and oil stays where it should and if you get spark knock address it asap. If you want to mod them and ride them hard then the list is more complicated. 5 speed transmissions in these are weak, you want the 6 speed. As you increase power you need supporting mods. And you must must must have them tuned by a reputable tuner. If you throw a bigger turbo, fmic, larger injectors, new exhaust new header new up pipe any or all of that, even a turbo inlet, you need it tuned. A Cobb accessport will only make it safe to drive long enough to get to a tuner imo. If you aren't flush with funds don't get a subie if you want to go fast
@@wootdoo Thank you for the info you have given me and you gave me alot to think about I might just continue to like these from a far until I can afford one I'm to comfortable with Honda and Toyota
I seen that wrx with a blown headgasket on marketplace and Kijiji autos
Pretty rough for a 98. A fun car though a lot of bang for the money and pretty reliable year to own. Love my 98GT.
I recently got a 98 mustang from the body shop I work at and it has 76,000 miles on it
My header tank is empty but the expansion tank is full is that bad
Same! What was your outcome
Same here! Got a diagnos?
Hey could possible be the radiotor cap on that expansion tank, look it up
@@andreasjonsson2761 might need to check the radiator cap and might need a knew one for the top one, on Subarus they work like a valve it’s a weird ass thing but look it up
Any news? Got the same problem
My Wrx was overheating when I was driving, it started to feel real sluggish and slow down until I had to stop and pull over, do you think this will help or not
Was your engine overheating when you had the AC ON ? Cause I am having that issue and I am about to BURP the system.
It was overheating in general mainly. it was probably on not 100% sure
Im having the same issue did you fix it?
Great Video man! Keep it up!
Thanks you!
Your welcome!
"expecially" LMAO 🤣
Thanks for the video man I'm 14 I've been looking for a first car for the past 4 years my dad got me into cars pretty early so I've came across so many cars, my neighbor is selling his v6 ford mustang from 1998 for only $2,000 he put a new engine in it a new motor, and a new transmission I'm putting a down payment on it for $1k tomorrow and this video helped out a lot thanks for the video :)
That's awesome yeah my dad got me into them as well. Did yall pick it up yet?
@@BrendanDoesVlogs I don't have enough money yet but I'll be working in construction with my uncle this summer so I'll have enough money by the time I'm 15 but my neighbor didn't want a down payment he just wants the whole thing cash so I'm only $300 away from getting it
@@RaccShatt that's awesome your so close dude. That's going to be an awesome car to learn on and get the hang of doing some mechanical things too.

Bro, your video says " What to look out for when buying a 1998 Mustang"! You bought a car that was wrecked . Nothing to do with Ford or Mustangs. You bought a hunk of shit. Do not blame Ford . I don't even like Ford but you are a dummy. For $2600 you got a good deal.
