Outstanding video!! I visited Turtle Island in 2022 and I noticed the staff on the island were quite rude & hostile for no apparent reason. I had no idea about any of these Koh Tao murders & Incidents back then, I'm glad we only booked the day trip and didn't decide to stay on the Island. Keep up the great work

As someone who has been to thailand for over 25 years, here is my obersvation. southern thai culrure is very different to mid thai and northern thai. The people in the western gulf side where koh tao are ethnic austroeans (similar to malay). Even though they speak thai and are buddhists, they have a more male dominated culture like malays. For example, in the bars, restaurants, and even nightclubs of mid and northern thailand, women dominate, servers, hostesses, even managers (this applies to non tourist areas as well). In the gulf islands, its the men. You see them serving in bars, managing the bars etc. If you do see thai women, they tend to be actually burmese or seasonal thai workers. The local southern thai women are not front facing and tend to work behind the scenes out of sight. This is where it becomes dangerous. I've only ever experienced a nasty atmosphere in thailand and thats been in the gulf islands, samui, tao, phangan and chang. The local men hang around the bars, nightclubs in a very letchy way. Groups of them, and so on as well as the ones who manage and serve in yhe bars. I never saw that in mid or north thailand. They are usually asleep in the corner while the women do all the work. My feeling is that its this cultural controlling in the southern thai mindset which is leading to jealous rages that then get targeted on tourists usually and always in the early hours of the morning when its quiet. 90% of the time it will involve women, either that the local men running the bar have lost face to some backpackers 'stealing' the girls they were chatting too, , or being rejected by a women and they take their anger on some unsuspecting sod. Again this is my observation.

Hard to believe the story(completely unprovoked) Very short one sided "victim victim victim" story(walked into a bar instantly spit at and chased out), Been to Thailand many times the people are very hospitable, friendly, show respect respect given. The fact the bar also relies on tourism I doubt he is just picking random/or doing that to every tourist that goes(doesn't even make sense). I witness at least once a week a sweaty tourist causing a commotion in public, projecting their frustration outward purposefully being a jacka**.

It's shocking that such a blatant perversion of justice should be allowed to be seen on a global scale. Thai tourism has never really recovered since this travesty of justice. As a matter of fact apart from 2019 Thailand has declined.

In 2023 santi was working at aphrodive koh tao. I did my scuba dive from there. Just saw your video, i was not aware he’s criminal. I still have his phone number. He’s eyes and nature was lustful towards ladies.

I lived on KohTao for aprox 9 months on 2 occasions `1994/5 with my long tern Girlfriend , I was just 24 /5 at the time. Koh Tao back then was very much unknown, hard to get to and a virgin Island , no roads, clubs or bars. Just some dive schools and about 6 backward resorts which you only got to by boat. We were sat on a deserted beach one day and were apporached by about 10-12 men ( maybe fishermen ) they couldn't speak any english but were very hostile and threatening , we hastened our way back to our bungalow 30 mins south of main beach and they followed us the whole way , the owners saw them following us and warned us to leave saying very bad men ! We left the Island the next morning

Hey Ian you won´t believe this! I am currently staying in Phuket at the moment. Our Airbnb host recently shared a story with my girlfriend about how they went diving in Koh Tao. Apparently they ended up finding a lifeless free diver floating in the water and tried to resurrect her but she sadly passed away. I´m not sure if this made the news but was wondering if you had heard about this? I could ask them how long ago it was to try nail down a date. I just thought it was so eerie to hear a first hand account of the Island after following your channel.

Ian, there's a news article from Bangkok from sept 23, 2024 that states who was caught on CCTV at the time of Hannah and Davids murder. It clearly says who's responsible.

There seems to be very little information in the public domain about Theo Bailey's death. Accident or murder, who knows?
