Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor in Springfield Mall 1977
I filmed a scene in the Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor which was located in the Springfield Mall in Springfield, Virginia in the summer of 1977. This short sequence is part of a longer scene that I filmed for a college film class project. The management at this Farrell's location were wonderful and let us come into Farrell's to film while they were closed on a Sunday morning between 7 a.m. until they opened at noon.

This is a rough-cut only but the final "SPYNOPOLY" trailer is coming soon. For now...

The Jones R&E Guide Featuring King Street Blues Closing Scene 1995
First job, washing dishes at Farrells in Kahala mall, Oahu.
1:07 Oh man, I remember the card index at the library, but I forgot about that slide-out support for copying the details down.
Fond memories of Farrells banana splits
I had a good friend who worked at that Farrell's in Springfield in 1978. I worked at People's Drug Store in Alexandria, which is now CVS. We were 15. Back then the drug store had a diner inside. They made great burgers and milk shakes and you'd eat right there in the drug store at a the counter. Also had a make up specialist with a big boufant hairdo and bright blue eyeshadow to her lids in the cosmetic section to advise you on make up. It was a sweet time for some of us. Good memories.
Laughed when the director said cut after that fall.
Check out that Bicentennial Celebration insignia.
Pretty sure I was in there that day.
I grew up in L.A. I used to love going to Farrell's, Especially on our birthdays!!!
Im dreaming of a white Christmas like back in the days! Loved the old wht america!
you just made my day
What about the loud siren they're supposed to play? THAT REALLY MAKES IT SPECIAL! The Farrells in Pearlridge mall, HI was really cool!🎉
I was sad when it closed. 😢 Also had my first banana split at Farrell's in the Old International Marketplace. Oh well, there's always Dave's Ice Cream....😅 🍨 🤙
@@thylacine1154 guess what? I worked at Dave's Ice Cream for a year when I was in my 20's. My fav was the nutty buddy 😋. I enjoyed making them, too! Fun times at Pearl City!
@crazycatlady1304 Awesome! Great experience you had. And what a small world. Well then I will need to try a nutty buddy next time. I sometimes get their banana splits, and the owner at the Pearl City store is so friendly. Cheers!
OMG, grew up going to Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor in Seattle in the 70's - always a special occasion !
Unintentional Napoleon Dynamite
I love watching all these low budget/experimental movies. Adrian; UK/England
I can already see rob schneider, steve buschemi, and jack black in the casting call
Don't I wish! LOL! 😄

WE NEED A FULL RELEASE
It's here on RUclips at "Murder at High Tea" and "Giblets 'n' Jewels".
Terrible and would watch 😂
Agreed. At least it looks like it keeps the same over the top tone throughout the movie.
@@Drew791 We do keep the over the top tone throughout. It's not Spielberg, but it's innocent fun!
@@paulfranklin5861 awesome! Looking forward to checking out the whole project!
where can I watcht this
Very interesting. Thank you for sharing!
I love looking at these shows that I produced so many years ago at what was then known as Arlington Community TV/Channel 33! We had such a great group of guests on each episode. The set design was awesome, and we always enjoyed the cake as soon as we went off air and back to regular programming. 😀 🎂

30 years later and I think conversation amongst group of women with similar values would be much the same.
If I remember correctly, I think it added to the zaniness of the parody.
...why...why did he have his pants down???
I remember as a kid there was a model train store there my father and I went to all the time. It was in the late late 90s early early 2000s
Champaign-Urbana Illinois 1990 to 1994 I used to go there all the time
Do you have a Sudafed ad from late 1992 where it shows a person getting into a car, later near the end, she sees a semi truck and like swerves?
Sorry, I did not produce that Sudafed commercial so I do not have the rights to post it.
Oh wow, I remember this shoot!
Jeff, I cannot believe we worked on this 29 years ago. It really is a nice program, too bad King Street Blues went out of buisness in 2018.
'Promo sm' 💔
is he italian or greek? Oh wait whats the difference
that's theo von
Frank at 35:26 😃
I love this commercial and still remember the beat to the song after all of these years. Also the hat flick at 0:23 is perfect! Thanks for uploading.
You’re welcome, @russell28534
This was the first video store my family had a membership to. Eventually we became Erol's members, right down the street, next to the Giant grocery. But West Coast was our first. Thanks for uploading this commercial and the memories that came with it.
walker group smoke a lots weed in the 70s
Wow, that appears to be the original Colonial 10 Promo version I edited. I haven't seen that in years! Thanks for posting this Frank! Love all the Halloween faces too.
That is neat that you edited this Colonia 10, Channel 10 promo. I am so glad you so it.
love all of the Halloween faces too. Rest in peace, Yaw Boama.
This was such a great show Frank!
I loved producing "R&E Guide" with Dave and Maria and working with all of you guys at Jones. So sad that our manager felt compelled to cancelled "R&E". Several of my close friends said he was jealous of the attention that "The Guide" was getting. Oh, well. At least we have the reruns.
"and I like it hawt!" Love that line.
Every time I drive past this bus stop I always think of this shoot!
...And I always remember the Jose's close-up.
I love her over the top energy. I know the director deserves some of the credit too. You know how to get a great performance out of an actor Frank!
Love the idea of a cab that offers ya a hot red head. Surely would put the other cab companies out of business! Really love the "uptown", "downtown", "across town" cuts.
I remember being very pleased with the lighting on this spot. So colorful! Love the edge lighting!
That very first appearance of you Frank as you open the door is soooo classic and cartoon-like. Perfect if you ask me!
I believe this was one of my first political ads. Ironic to imagine that a year or so later political ads was all I was doing in Old Town Alexandria. And for 20 years.
I do believe this is your first political spot, Jeff.
Great ad Frank! But then again all your ads are great!
Thank you, Jeff. You were a big part of many of my commercials. I still wish I was producing commercials or appearing in an episode of my favorite sitcom, "Ghosts".
Something tells me tgat the sound mixing guy was too busy eating pizza
You know, I really appreciate you uploading your filmography onto RUclips. It's a snapshot into 90's culture from a more intimate, local perspective that future generations will be able to learn from. Thank you.
