Yes. Compliance is involved as opposed to resistance but they are not throwing themselves on the floor. They are merely offering a generic attack and staying loose enough as to not get injured when the tore applies the technique. At the point when the joint manipulation causes uke to loose balance tore then throws uke instead of tearing tendons and ligaments or shattering the joint. Uke rolls with the throw for his/her own safety and for the beauty of the demo.

@syimang I doubt it and here's why: no one in a competitive setting is going to try to lunge punch you in the mid-section or grab your wrist without pulling you off balance. Try going to a judo dojo and extending your hand to be grabbed. You will notice that as soon as the judoka grabs your hand, even if he is a beginner, his center will drop and he will move with you. If you twist his arm, he will let go and get a better grip. Just some thoughts.

I've trained under Aikikai for 14 years.I have no doubt that it can be used on the street, gang fights, bar fights etc. but nobody have any idea if it can be used in a ring fight, MMA of UFC fight.Some martial artist said it is a waste of time training aikido cause it is not practical enough for a competitive sports.It is because nobody have use Aikido under a sport competitive fight or in a famous MMA & UFC'S.It might be wrong & taboo to used Aikikai in a competition but can it be done?

Hmm. Why is almost every waza ending in a tobi ukemi? And a lot of unnecessary multiple balance breaks. Once you've got them, throw them! Don't just break their balance over and over! I spy a bit of showmanship :P A good demonstration though. They obviously know what they're doing. The young 'uns were great!

Aikido is a complete joke combining brainwashing of its practitioners with bullshit moves that only work with cooperating opponents. Thats why you only see Aikido in "demonstrations"

I agree with Maico, everything I've ever seen from aikido one big demo. Looks pretty as long as the opponent goes along with everything. Prove me wrong, show me a video here on youtube thats impressive, that looks like 2 men actually fighting.

aikido contains the word aiki. aiki means to harmonize with ur opponent. there is no harmony here. they are just fighting. i practise aikido and i believe that there cant be any aikido competition due to the very nature of the art. u cant apply aikido when u try to fight with someone. you may on the other hand do so in an unexpected situation for instance in a street fight.
