I remember the mixed feelings I had being at the festival and seeing this performed for the first time. Not many people remember this but Bon Iver was on hiatus for a few years following their BI,BI tour. That was back when they had the giant live band, like a dozen people with a full brass section performing those beautiful, airy songs. I never got to see that iteration of the band so when Eaux Claires was announced I was overjoyed. I remember refreshing the ticket page in my college English class over and over so I could make sure I got tickets. Like a lot of people at the time, I was in love with the (mostly) acoustic and quiet For Emma songs and grew to appreciate the expansive sounds of the self titled. But when he opened this set with Heavenly Father and played this song later, it was clear the band was going to a different place sonically, and I wasn't sure I liked the electronic aspects. But I grew to love 22 and i,i as much if not more so than his first two albums and this song in particular is one of my all time favorites of his. Thanks for bringing me back.

I think this has to be one of Bon Iver's best songs + i absolutely adore that the Staves joined them on this one. Bon Iver + The Staves = near perfection

Thank you for uploading this, Michael! To my ears, Justin changed many of the lyrics between this debut and the album version. I'd absolutely love to know what those extra lyrics or lyrical substitutions were. For whatever reason, this particular song resonates with me, hard. It's my most-listened to song of this ear. I think it's as fascinatingly cryptic as it is beautiful.

When is he going to release this as a studio recording? Ahh im getting frustrated!! Come on Justin!!! We need more!!

Not going to lie, a year and a half on, I really wish he'd kept this punchy arena-rock version. I really dislike how deadened the album version sounds.

The other new song from the Eaux Claires 2015 Bon Iver show now has a name - "666". Did this song make it to the album? I thought this was the better song of the two. Adding the Staves to almost anything he does has been great. Thanks.

Greatest Musician on the Planet bar none! I'd like to echo what someone said in a prior post, I will remember this night forever. Ty Mr Vernon for your immense power and with it your humility! I will be returning to the river this upcoming year and I can only pray that Bon Iver will grace us with their presence again!

I went to UWEC and saw Justin's first band, Mt. Vernon, and knew he could do some great things... I miss EC so much and hearing his music makes me feel a bit less home sick. Great audio too! I truly hope that they record this song and maybe get another album out. Love this band!
