Is there any way to get sound effects on DOS? Love the fact that you gave Diablo a try, we need "Fastdiablo" lol
I get 15FPS fullscreen on the 386 with Fastdoom, using the 320 resolution and -386sx flag.
Its cool that the Covox works, I hope they will build the PicoGUS Femto Edition again.
Is it using RS232 and the ESP?
What kind of LAN adapter? I use an LPT LAN adaper but its very big

@@zhblue Thanks I will give it a try, I love the fact that its wireless and small. The only downside seems to be the speed limit of RS232, the LPT adapter does up to 1.5 Mbit which is 10 times faster. By the way I love your channel, especially the fact that you've managed to use custom resolutions such as 640 x 200, is there any way to support those on Windows?

@@zhblue just curious, did you change any video adapter in your setup? The image boots like a dream, but X reports "No valid modes found". Haven't looked too much into it now, just curious if something needed to be changed.
@@spyder2041 just dump it right after poweroff from the X. try create your own configure by running "xf86config"

My Pocket386 came with Win3.11 and I was thinking about installing Win95 instead. Why would anyone want to use Win3.11?
win3.1 is more pratical for 8m ram

I just bought one of these and it is very frustrating that I cannot use a USB mouse. Using the PS2 adapter is not very convenient when traveling with the Pocket386 plus it is not very easy to find a PS2 mouse these days. I know that I can use a PS2 to USB adapter but that makes it even more inconvenient.
You should ask your friend to make one with a built in trackball
This is cool...just enough info and demo to try out yourself, if you have a pocket386 which I do. Didn't know of the serial to wifi, wonder if that can be made to work with dos/windows 95.

I really want one of these, I was hoping by now there would be an upgraded version with a DX instead of an SX. Really Cool Sir! I haven't run Linux on a 386 since I was give one in the 90s Dual Booting Slackware with Win 3.1

Why does it have so much tape?
I use one tape to fast fetch CF card, another one just try to adjust the base sound.
I installed an old windows 3.1 OPL3 wav driver, which worked for me.

Your pocket386 has great sound. I am also trying JAZZ JACKRABBIT, but there is no sound from Adlib. What settings do you have?

Is there any way to boot from a floppy image?
Theoretically, it is possible to connect a floppy drive controller from an external ISA interface, thus connecting an external floppy drive. I'm not sure if the BIOS will correctly identify it, but as far as I know, the machine's developer is working on an external dock that includes a 16-bit ISA slot, serial and parallel ports, and a standard notebook floppy drive interface.

An external ISA sound card is used.
Great little laptop. Ask your friend could he make one with cga lcd, 640x200 resolution, it would be very cool... and more portable....at least bar type lcd with wide format

How did you get the GPIo pins to act like a serial port? Are the some of the pins already configured that way? Do you mind sharing which pins you're using? Thanks
my pocket386 is not the retail version, but come from the creator with an internal serial board: www.8086cpu.com/lm6/101.html . The pinout is also available in the PDF files on this site.

16MB would only really be useful to run Windows 95 native software multitasked. And this machine is basically too slow to run most 32 bit Windows programs, maybe the simplest card games + text mode win32 apps @chimpera1
Hello, good work. I like to make tiny executable com files for DOS with a little help from the external debug command, but i use a special version of debug that provide 16 bit and additional 32 bit instructions for 80386+ CPU. The version from MS DOS provide 16 bit instructions only. To create a new executable com file i use batch files as an open source container to put all instructions of a routine inside the batch file. Most of these special container batch files have to start with one or more parameter attached separated with a space between. Example with row color "text" attached: CENTER.BAT 8 1b "output center align" I made some videos(no speech) to show how it works and to share the batch file. Have fun.❤

This menu of the config.sys file create a %config% enviroment variable that we can use in the autoexec.bat file with the "goto %config%" command to jump to a specific location in the batch file with a jump label like ":ems" for example. Inside the menu of the config.sys file we can make additional some submenu that allows to go back to a previos menu as long we are in the config.sys file.
