Songs that were in the top twenty or so would be mimicked as a live performance, but sometimes the vocals were live as it was with Teen Spirit. Nirvana disagreed with what the show producers wanted them to do, so they performed like this to take the piss!

It seems that nirvana’s management should’ve known well before hand that the performance is going to have to be synced. The cool thing of them to do would have been to sync the performance and make sure in the future that they are certain that whatever music they are going to perform is performed live with no syncing. There are fans there to see them and probably more watching on TV. They should’ve stuck it out for them. I lost a lot of respect for this band after watching this.
