The “find new video files” step does not get the fileName extension? Yesterday i tried with an image using zapier, and it gets the entire filename, including the extension name.
It does, yes! In the "Video File" property - so you can make the filename extensions dynamic. I just did it statically in the video, off the cuff - but dynamic is the way to go 👍
Why do we need to convert it to binary data instead of just directly saving the file of the temporary url into the gdrive folder? Are there pros on using gdrive instead of cloudinary?
If we just pass the URL in the Google Drive module, then the scenario appears to work, but the saved file isn't actually a video file - hence why we need to pass binary. Not sure about the pros or cons of using Google Drive vs Cloudinary. I just wanted to show what most people tend to use
This is so good! However, I feel like it would be more useful to see how you're internal Tasks DB is setup as well. I wonder if a lot of the confusion people have would be resolved by seeing all of this built from scratch on both the Notion & Make side. Understandably it would be a much longer video but I have no doubt many would love it.
Thanks 🙏 Yeh that’s a good idea! See my other comment to you for more details but that’s great to know that showing the Tasks DB could be helpful 👍
Thanks bud
No worries 😎
do you know how to grab a video file from notion and automatically upload to Google drive?

Why Make instead of ByteLine?
Never tried ByteLine - how is it? Make suits my needs pretty well
4:28 i prefer todoist, and it can be synced for notion, so you can add tasks from notion
I used to use Todoist - I did like it, but switched to TickTick a few years back for their Calendar View. Good to know it has a native sync for Notion, that indeed is better
@@toni-sian not native
important issue
Definitely. Notion is very "sticky"
Great video. Thanks!!!
Love the video, do you have a template for your notion portal as I love this and would love to create something similar
Thanks Katie 🙏 I actually don’t have a template online, but seeing as there’s interest I’ll make one and pop it on my channel asap
@@toni-sian Hey Toni, any update on the template or magical one-button solution? So pumped to try this out.
@toyjams Hey 👋 The template is in the QA stage 🎉 Doing lots of testing to make sure it’s waterproof. The One Click is still in the works. I’m seeing a tonne of interest on this and so I’m cooking up a way where I can teach this kinda stuff in a more digestible way. Possibly a Skool community. So stay tuned and thanks for the interest!
@@toni-sian Right on! Thanks mate!
Great video, thanks! But please use different names next time, was confused which monkey we were talking about at a couple points
🙊 Fair point! 😁
If this is your original idea then you sir are a genius! If it's not then you're still awesome and thank you so much for sharing it with us!
Hope it helps ya! Yeh I can’t take credit for the original idea - I remember wanting to make this happen and then finding people talking about this Slack trick on Reddit. So I can’t accept the “genius” label for this one haha - but hopefully I’m doing the internet a service by breathing life into some hidden Reddit gems 💎 That being said, I do have a bunch of original ideas on my channel - such as my recent Notion Calendar trick, scraping solutions, my templates, my client portal dynamic feature, proposal generation etc - so be sure to check em out 😉
Hello! Toni! I checked your brilliant idea of saving tokens. I'm trying to understand your setup. But I'm not sure what's in your filter before you have the notion modules? Can you get the "exact item id"? I can just know that "something" has been edited or added, but can the webhook tell them apart some how? Can you please give me some pointers, i want to edit the exakt right item later in my flow :)
Cheers! So my filters are just text matchers - I'm looking in that incoming Slack message to see whether it contains the word "edited" or "added", and then branching the scenario based on that. It's not ideal, but unfortunately you can't control what Slack sends in the payload of the Webhook. It mayyy be possible using Slack Apps, but I'm not sure as I haven't used them. A possible workaround could be to modify the native Notion automation. You could add a step that sets a property on the item, eg: set a "next" checkbox to true, then your Make could search for the last edited item with "next" set to true, and then uncheck it after processing... but - that's getting quite complicated 😅
@@toni-sian Well that sounds like a good workaround ! I will check if i get all the native fixes working :D Thanks !!
Cool hack. very useful. Thanks for posting this tweak!
My pleasure!
Awesome man. How is the search objects module after the webhook module set up? I notice your previous video on the client portal was using a watch database items module that worked on last updated time. How does this one work?
Yeh so the "Watch Database Items" module is designed to be used as the first (trigger) module in a scenario - in Make these are usually the modules that have the purple "ACID" tag attributed to them. However, since we're using "Custom Webhook" as our trigger module - we're forced to read our database items differently, so "Search Objects" is the play. It's just a simple lookup module that takes in a database ID and some filters. In my case I've set them up to simply look for the last edited item in Notion, which will be the Task that I want to sync... but you can change your filters to make them more complex for different needs.
I would love to see some tutorials about how to create nice automations for Notion in Make. I dont really know how to create one...
That’s a good idea - I’ve been playing with an idea to summarise your week in Notion with an automation and AI
Thats really awesome. Thanks for sharing with us!
Great video Toni. How does this work if you have more than one project with the same client? Are the portals per project or per client?
Cheers. In my setup I use one portal per project, but like with anything in Notion, you could easily make this one portal per client and then maybe use tags to differentiate between different projects.
Your content is amazing, thanks!
@@samiraordahi Ahh thanks that’s great to hear! Have an awesome day
@@toni-sian hahah thank you! It's night here, I'm from Brazil. But you have an awesome day 😊
Whoop .. great trick!
LOVE this. Thank you!!
@@LauraArcosFacio My pleasure! Glad somebody else thinks so too 🙌
How did you add the "Add Meetings", "Add Documents", "Add Prompts" to your client page? It's all grayed out at the top of the page under the properties. If you click on them does it bring up a database where you can add a new line item, but also have it show up as a direct link on this page?
Hey 👋 Yeh that's a nice little Notion feature. It's just an alternate way to view properties of the type "Relation". There are 2 ways to choose this view. 1) Click a Relation property, eg: "Meetings", Click "Show as", "As section" 2) To customise many properties at once, click any property, then "Customize page" and you can select and re-order there And to answer your last question - yes, once you've set this up, you can add database items right there on the page and they will be automatically linked. Hope that helps 👍
Hi Toni! Is there a way to bring the URL automatically or just by copying and pasting it?
Hey Maria 👋 Hmmm, you could potentially set up some crazy automations in Notion - but it would definitely be more of a "hack" and not something that Notion is really built for. I think the maintenance and possible bugs that would arise for such a small improvement wouldn't be worth it, so in this case the best option is just the copy/paste
@@toni-sian ok, thanks!!😊
Are you able to share the blueprints for the Make automation for your create client portal webhook button you made in Notion? 😁
@@danielbattersby Hey Daniel 👋 That’s actually still in development as I got pulled into other things - but still on the agenda - had a crazy month with travelling and work
This is a superb idea, was trying to get something of the same done. There is so much that can be built using this trick.
@@devgargieya Cheers. Absolutely, the possibilities are immense.
All fine? Is 1 month without new content from you...
Hey Antonio, yes all is fine, thanks for asking! 🙏 Good to know you would like more content 😄 It's been a crazy month of travelling and many client projects, but I've now finished travelling and will be in one place for the next year, which I'm happy about. Working on a new video and hoping to release it this week. Stay tuned!
Hi Toni! Thank you so much for this great information, it's definitely a bit confusing but worth it. I have a question, in make, the second and third part: update and delete after finding the synchronized version, the page ID does not work, you have 19. Data [ ]: ID, but mine just shows 19. Data. The error says: BundleValidationError Validation failed for 1 parameter(s). The value of the required parameter 'page' is missing. Please help me 😥
Hey 👋 I thiiink I know what's happening here, but to be sure, can you send me a quick Loom recording? My email is in my RUclips account details. Send me what the Task Properties are looking like on both the Internal and your Client Tasks & then run the Make scenario, let it error and show me the Input/Output bundles for the initial Notion module and the module where it's failing 👍 Hopefully I can help ya!
@@toni-sian thank you so much for answering my question, yes! I'll send you right now the video, again thank you so so much!
what was the solution to this?
@@carlo3042 Hey - I updated the first paragraph of the video description, which ensures authorisation is set up properly
I mean, why do you need the HTTP modules there in the first place? Can’t the scenario look up the client DB using the ID and then the client task with the other ID?
📌TIP (maybe)📌- I had a bit of trouble with getting this to work. I found using a "Search objects" notion node instead of the "Get a database Item" node worked fine for what i wanted so maybe if ur struggling, give that a go.
I always love when I find a banger video on a small channel... keep up the good work brotha this is exactly what I needed!

@@toni-sian amazing thank you so much!
amazing stuff and spot on, thank you bro! Bonus for showing us the frustrations you dealt with as we've all been there and can relate!
@@dustinek2973 Glad it worked for ya! Thanks for the feedback, good to know it’s valuable to show the bumps in the road 🙏
Keep it up!!!
I just watched a video by Josh Redd that showed how to create a Client Portal that the client can access to fill out and send messages etc. etc. - it sits inside of a Client Database Page which is then linked together by a synced block. You can give the client access to just the Client Portal (aka synced block page)but not the outer Client Database Page that the synced block sits in. It was pretty simple to follow. No .json files requied. 👍
Hey Candace, thanks for your input🙏 Yeh I've seen Josh's Synced Block solution and I do like it - it's elegant, simple to set up and I think it definitely makes sense for certain use cases. While the solution I'm proposing is more complicated to set up (currently) - it does give a couple of nice benefits that you can't get from the Synced Block solution alone: 🟠Centralised Internal Tasks * With the Synced Block solution you have client Tasks separated into different portals. * While this might be fine for your workflow, it can become a pain if you have multiple clients, each with multiple Tasks. * Because all those Tasks aren't in the same database, it becomes tricky to get an overview of all them across all clients. * This is especially troublesome if you're collaborating in a team. Project Managers work better when they can see all Tasks from one dashboard, for example. 🟠Private/Public "Double Sided" Tasks * While the Synced Block solution does give some areas for private vs public information, it's still global, ie: there's no solution for private vs public information directly inside a Task. * For example, if you create a database of Tasks inside the Synced Block, then the Client will be able to see everything in that Task. No privacy. * In the solution I'm proposing, the Tasks are "Double Sided". So, on the private side you can privately comment with your team, set reminders etc... and on the public side you can publicly talk with the client, share task resources etc. * I find this gives you more control and can help streamline collaboration. For example, it's very easy to assign a Task to a freelancer in the private side of the Task - the client would not be aware of this - and the freelancer could then choose how to display and manage that Task however they wish, seeing as it is connected to your company-wide Tasks DB. All in all, I think it depends on what you're trying to achieve and your specific requirements. I think both solutions have their place, and their pros and cons. Also, stay tuned as I'm working on a 1-Click Setup for this, which will take a lot of the complexity out of the setup 😁
What are the odds you can make a tutorial for this? I'm having a hard time figuring out how to map everything properly.
Hey Daniel - yeh that's a good idea. Seem like this is a topic ppl are interested in, but is definitely hard to follow. Thanks for suggestion I'll get on it asap

⭐ Do you want the Make.com Automation that I built in this video? 👇 automato-labs.ck.page/airbnb-review-scraper
Fantastic idea!!! Is it possible to create different triggers? It seams that there is the possibility to trigger only one automation with this trick!
Thanks! 🙏 Yes, there's a couple of ways I can think to trigger multiple automations: 1) In the settings of the Notion Button, add more "Steps" that are actioned after the click. You can make 1 Button Click trigger the sending of a notification to 5 separate Slack Channels, for example, and then from there, trigger 5 separate automations. 2) Within your Make.com automation, you could add a step at the end to trigger a different automation (either within Make or Zapier, for example). You achieve this "chaining" behaviour with the Webhooks module. Would you like me to make a video on these ideas?
Hi @@toni-sian Actually mi problem is: I have to sync some databases for different clients. They have to see only few things and not our all stuff. The problem that I'm having actually is with the APP Webhook outgoing in Slack, which is giving me only one choice. Is ok to have different buttons in Notion, that was my solution,:one different button for each project fo sync Tasks and Documents databases. So I just need to find a way to trigger something like 15 webhooks. :-) But I have the feeling that I'm missing something on Slack. Thanks a lot, your channel is really interesting!
How many "umms" did I do? 🙈 PS: Yep, I should record it in landscape next time 🤪
Making the page look pretty. I have a bad habit of imagining the aesthetic before even filling out the content.
I hear ya! Guilty of this too. One idea is to wireframe the design for a new page on a notepad or simple design tool, and then port to Notion when done. That could help keep more focused on design and function, then aesthetics can come later
Back again to your video. So when you said to send the proposal in pdf along with video. Am I suppose to send the same content in the pdf in text as well? Wouldn't be redundant? @14:16
@@noormuhammad888 Ah OK let me clarify. If you record a Loom, then I recommend just sending a short bit of text as your proposal, “Hi, Check out this video I recorded for you, explaining how I can help”. If you don’t record a Loom, and want to do a PDF, then again, just send a real short text, one sentence, telling them to check out your attached PDF. Does that clarify?
@@toni-sian clear as crystal Tony. Thanks again 🙌
Hey 👋 Which rabbit holes do you find yourself falling into in Notion?
I spend few hours and could not figure out how to solve this, Thanks Toni, you save my days! I searched everywhere to find the answer, finally I get the answer from your channel, thanks for create this video!
@@JCCheong-TheCrunch That’s great to hear! Glad to help 🙏
Excellent video Toni. I'm totally impressed by your execution of connecting Upwork feeds to Notion and then automating proposal creation process using GPT assistant. Can you tell me more about how did you connect the Notion database to fetch the RSS feeds? Did you used their API and design a cron job or do we have another solution for it? Would appreciate your insights. Subscribed 🤩
Hey thanks for your comment and the subscribe! 🙌 Good question - I'm not using their API, nor a cron job - basically the whole thing runs on a Make.com scenario and it goes like this: 1) RSS Module => Pull all the jobs I'm interested in, every hour (which kind of simulates a Cron Job). Go here to learn how to grab your custom RSS Feed URL => support.upwork.com/hc/en-us/articles/211063078-Search-for-Jobs 2) Pass those jobs into a OpenAI Module ("Message an Assistant"), which calls my Custom Assistant that I described in the video 3) Add the filtered jobs into my Notion Database with the Notion Module "Create a Database Item" That's it! You might have to do some parsing in Make in-between these steps, but that's the main structure. 💡Connecting Make.com to Notion can be a little bit tricky, so I made a previous video on it which should help => ruclips.net/video/jmY2-0vDIX4/видео.htmlsi=j1Rwf7s7DhVYm6uv Cheers, Toni
