I immediatly noticed the sharp bone right next to him and was just screaming for him to grab it and use it. It made even less sense that he still didn't while the 2nd guy went away and the first one was struggling and distracted with the gun. It's not like he didn't see it yet, at 1:47 it looks like he knew it was right next to him all along when he grabs it. There is no moment of surprise or shock on his face that it's there, but he grabs it like he knew. The only thing that never made sense to me. Also wanted to add that they don't understand their language and yet none of the people in the cages said anything about the weapon right next to him. They just silently watched him being killed.
