Even IF Lewis HAD the money, WHO was going to buy from him at that time??? Most blacks very likely didn't have the cash either to support him! It was a free-market business decision. This is another race-baiting, selective facts story based on a backward looking Lens of Social Justice through post-Millennial progressive myopia. The CONTINUAL Propagation of Victimization of Social Constructs that occured GENERATIONS AGO, is a liberal joke. And bottom line, Ford as a company, did pretty good financially. As far as current DEI Dealership numbers are concerned - maybe take a better look at WHY, and not just play the RACE Card 2 to 3 generations later.

Now Henry Ford II should have know this would have made a killing, and fronted him the dealers on consignment or loaned the money to Lewis at a low interest rate, but due to the social prejudice, you speak of, he couldn’t do that at the time unfortunately!

In 1938 a franchise would not cost anywhere near the numbers you're talking about. I remember when a small garage would have a Chevrolet or Ford dealership sign hanging outside and were lucky to sell a couple of cars a month. Henry Ford and his sons were racist, anti-semitic, and anti-union.

Where do you get your facts. In 1938 there was no way a dealership would cost the numbers your talking about. I remember when a small garage would have a Chevrolet or Ford sign hanging outside and they would be lucky to sell a couple of cars a month. The facts are Henry Ford was an anti-semite, racist, and anti-union, and if wasn't for Ford Finance, that Model T bucket of bolts he was pedaling was doomed by far superior cars produced by Dodge and Chevrolet.

If you read HFII biography his best friend and closest private confidant was his Butler who was AM, and he was with him from the 1940’s until his HFII passing in 1988. William Clay Ford especially going back to the 1960’s use to hangout at Fox&Hound with all the players and most certainly wasnt overtly racist or anti-Semitic…. Now the Ford Family has AM in the immediate Family. Tipping is rooted in aristocracy. It's not a race thing. It's a class thing. Wealthy people of European societies when patronizing establishments beneath their class would tip BEFORE any service was rendered to insure they were treated, and given service the way they felt entitled to because of their status or class. To insure prompt service. It's an acronym. That's literally the origins of tipping. A white lord could visit the establishment of a white peasant and they would still be tipped. The whole idea was do it before hand, as a flex. The color of skin had nothing to do with it. Then, when the American culture took it over, it became a weapon of entitlement. "We'll see how you treat me before I give you this tip" became the proverbial carrot to dangle in front of service workers, which by the way, still isn't based in race. I just wish everyone would stop race baiting.

@@eugenedebs9547 You have it ass backwards. Plantation owners emulated aristocrats. Aristocracy existed well before American plantation owners. In fact, getting meta for a minute, land owners were simply lords, while aristocrats often were the result of familial name/bloodline (nepotism) or positions in the government or politics, like offices held. Think European royalty and parliamentary officials. They were seen as a higher class than even land/slave owners. If you take your binary glasses for a minute, you'd realize there's often more than just two tiers in a class-based society.

Americans don’t really have a problem with tipping. We’d probably tip more if it were culturally (or legally) acceptable. For example, we’d probably tip surgeons for delivering excellent services if it could be done. We have a mindset that if someone is going to make the same amount of money doing the bare minimum or putting forth an amazing effort, we’d rather they have the incentive to give us great service.

At 9:20, I'm not entirely clear if you're saying that the belief that Black people are economically disadvantaged is mistaken, or the idea that being economically disadvantaged, they are less deserving of a decent tip, is. The latter, presumably! Anyway, notwithstanding the interplay of racial elements, I, too, struggle to understand the reasoning which would dictate that an economically disadvantaged person ought not to get as much of a tip as a less~disadvantaged person. All I can come up with is "You don't want to be spoiling 'em, now..!", or to put it more euphemistically, perhaps, that the poor are better used to getting by on less! Then again, I'm European, unfamiliar with the ways and customs of our American cousins... 😉😁
