I just bought one 21ft.

just got a 96 Mariah Shabah today. it has held up pretty well I must say. hope to get it out on the water next weekend. wont make it in time for Memorial Day, but I was happy to find and enjoy this video. thanks for sharing. we all dreamed of the future, but the past was better. the future sucks.

That's me at 16:00, working out a new harness. I was the design engineer responsible for helping create and setup our in-house wiring harness department. It was the following year that I began sketching out what eventually became the concept behind our unique integrated fiberglass stringer/flooring system. Around that time, we upgraded from coremat to a fiber-reinforced spray-on backer at first-skin application that saved weight and resin while providing better print-thru blocking. A few snippets of this video were from several years prior to '98 and were no longer 'exactly' what we were doing by then, as we had improved resin-glass ratios, cut out excess weight, improved deck/hull bonding, and several other things by then. Jimmy Fulks really was absolutely adamant that Mariah Boats needed to have the highest-quality components available anywhere it made a difference to the final product. When he said "we will improve every corner of every model every chance we get so we stay equipped like no other boat!" he meant it. He would have loved today's LED lighting, as he had me constantly looking for better lights that looked cleaner and didn't heat up the plastic housing or lasted longer or were easier to install, etc. I can't count how many of those custom stainless-steel oval headlights we welded up to get the angle as 'right' as possible for all the various models that needed them. One of my favorite "finds" that nobody would generally even notice was a product called "CorrosionX" that we tested and ended up spraying over electronics, the custom switches, terminals, breakers, and even the inside of radios, to better protect against the marine environment, eliminating corrosion. I don't know any other boat that bothered to coat electronics that nobody sees the back-side of, but the stuff works, and it mattered to Jimmy. I got to help design our first deck boat, and worked out how to trim it down from the original 244 we built to the following year's 214. Jimmy kept our prototype 214 once it returned from being test-run to win Deckboat-of-the-Year honors, and sold it to my family when I left the company, so I could keep the one I helped design and build. Great company, great leadership, great memories of helping make it happen!

I’ve never heard of Mariah boats

Gotta wonder how they went out of business with a system this clean and a great product. Hopefully I own one of these boats soon.

This was the best deck boat of its time, we have one and the handling, speed and storage are better than anything I've seen in this style. the 214 can hold up to 14 people, 10 in my opinion is comfortable and still can ski and tube. Wish they still made boats!

It's to bad Jimmy Folks didn't continue his dream to add on a new addition to his plant and build his Mariah 31 footer and beyond. It just seems unfair that financial burdens came to him at a critical point of his 10 year and future. So many of his employees were expecting to retire under his dream of success in Mariah and continue to see this industry mold into something really great! I now own one of his creations the 1992 Mariah 2000ZC with fiberglass bow hardtop and full emerald green canvass back to stern with original dual axel trailer. :-) Thanks Jimmy for your hard work in making a top of the line boats that I believe is one of the best ever built!

I love our 2001 Mariah Diablo 180, and hope to eventually upgrade to a larger boat.. but in no hurry. This video is excellent, thank you so much for posting it. It really is amazing what Mariah accomplished, yet very sad that they no longer exist.
