MidlifeEventer
Великобритания
Добавлен 21 июл 2023
A visual journal of my new midlife adventure trying to fulfil my childhood dream of becoming an (amateur!) eventer with my ex-racehorse Monty. No clue how it will go, exciting times 🥳(apart from needing to remember to balance the forthcoming fun alongside getting better at managing the aches and pains - ah the joys of getting older.... 🫤).
Our 3rd BE of 2024 - can we do it this time? 🤞
After a really good training session at the Kelsall Hill BE course, my hopes were high as we try our luck again ....

Training on a BE XC course: can we do it....🤞
Просмотров 14014 дней назад
It's been a few weeks since our last competition fail (ie another big fat E!), and a bit of a flare up of my fibromyalgia meant we missed the Kelsall Hill BE competition at the end of Sept BUT brilliantly the XC course was opened up so we were able to train over it the weekend after to see whether we could actually do it....or not? Spoiler - turns out we can (although we still have some issues ...
Our 2nd BE of 2024 - and yet again it does not go to plan 🤷♀️

Rewind to Sept and we ventured out for our 2nd BE after some really positive training. However, the monster has a melt down before we even get to the dressage arena and I hadn't realised at this point how much my energy levels (physical and mental) were affecting my riding and the support I was giving to the super-sensitive #exracehorse🙄- lots more learning! #eventing #amateureventer #midlife #...
Finally learning to recognise when my fibromyalgia affects my riding 🤦♀️

You'll get there one of these days!! xx
🤞
Looked great!
Well done missus!
60th y/o Mom here! Fun my horse is somewhat the same ! I'm always trying to find the right answer! Showjumping was great till.......! Lots of gymnastics helps and for me it's the XC that fails us due to inexperience so I moved to a farm with a course! Here to more success than lack of success! 2025!!
There's a lot of trial and error involved in our journey 😂
Oh dear, that was rough competition! Keep trying! xx
Love your Gorgeous Bestie!!!❤❤❤❤ Best Gift Ever!!!
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL HORSE!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He could walk out in the field or stay with her. He chose her for now.
And he galloped out to the others after a fuss😂
Why does the horse have to choose?
The monster is very herd oriented so him wanting to come back and have a cuddle always feels v special
I love that song. Mahalia Jackson, my fav gospel singer. The horse has earned its time for a slow rest.❤❤❤❤
I had a lot of similar problems with my boy our first season out. I know that if I am not 100% committed he will stop. It is harder the older you are s you see what ‘could’ happen. However, at 53 I am just happy to still be out there eventing! Keep going, he looks lovely 😊
So true, I'm very aware I don't bounce like I used to!
So many beautiful pictures to remember your massive improvement over the camp. Monty can jump the moon if you tell him he can. He takes his confidence from you and as you gained confidence he jumped superbly. Well done 👏🏻
Ah, thank you, that's lovely to hear
Disgusting
You do not even know or care how you treat your horse disgusting 😢
Shame things went a bit wrong, those events look very helpful, especially the dressage judge letting you hear what she was saying xx
Good on you! Small victories are to be celebrated xx
So true! 😊
@@MidlifeEventer you'll do even better next time! 🌟
Lovely to share our lessons at camp, i couldn't believe the difference from day 1-2 on the XC, i will vouch and say he was like something possessed!! Mega job on the show jumping too! Nice to feature in the final photo too!! ❤
Ugh I hate that feeling
It's one I'm way too familiar with still - keep wondering if I should take up something less stressful 😂
Great fun, enjoy 🎉
Do you have renegades on the back too?
Yep, although just realised I have got different models - classic on the front, vipers on the back (slightly different shapes otherwise pretty much the same)
Me too, ex racer that is. Mine has good feet but kept pulling his shoe off and hurting himself, constantly mildly lame. So back one’s off front pads and turned away, NAF biotin plus, so couple of months we’ll whip off the fronts and see how we go. WB mare is barefoot and doing ok but a bit footy. She has cavallo hoof boots for fronts, fitted by a fitter. I used keratex but only on the sole as I found it quite drying, didn’t see much change and I’ve used it on 3 different horses.
Really helpful to know your experience, thank you! I'll keep an eye on the keratex use.
❤😊
🙏🏼🥰
