Interesting
Nobody cares about your stupid ads !!!
Tanya's YAS everytime she starts something bugs the hell out of me for some reason.
Great debate! Angela King has my vote 😀
David Olson voice sounds like RFK Jr.
It's very clear that Alexis came prepared with fantastic solutions and answers on how to tackle the issues Seattle faces. On the other hand, Tanya gave generic placations while skirting over persistent issues that her council still hasn't been able to address (she's personally suggested ZERO legislation proposals during her term), and unsuccessfully attempted to slander Alexis; she also repeatedly couldn't remember the question, and kept going over time. Get Tanya out. Vote Alexis in.
I was at the debate and it seemed to me there were two people on that debate stage: one was a little girl and the other was a grown-up.
Why was this posted with 36 minutes of dead air time? And why did Tanya get multiple rebuttal opportunities whereas Alexis did not?
It has been edited down. Thanks for your patience.
Will there be a transcript available for this?
I see there is one now. Thank you!
Very strange editing. Why not just show the whole debate?

I feel like Christiana's heart is in the right place, but Cathy is just clearly more qualified and competent. Cathy responded to questions with specific policy solutions and referencing specific local policy, Christiana answered questions with open-ended ideas and citing papers and research done on other cities. They agree on a lot of things and both of them would do a good job, but I lean towards Cathy since she was so much more pragmatic and specific about the local community in this debate. I just hope she agrees to upzone lots to enable developers to build more, denser housing-something she sort of professed to here.
I totally agree with your thoughts. I wish more voters were aware of this platform so as to make informed decisions. The debates give me the most information versus the textbook banter of the written word. I will be voting for a Seattle-informed individual.

Just saw this comment on Reddit which I edited for this channel, it’s not mine. Sounds like taxpayers are fed up with Bill’s horribly misguided task force: “The new mayor ran on a law-and-order platform and this is the law,” said Bill Kirlin-Hackett, the director of the Interfaith Task Force on Homelessness, which runs the Scofflaw Mitigation/Vehicle Residency Outreach Program. “We just find it to be quite hypocritical.” No Bill, you are the hypocrite. Hypocritically advocating for a demographic that chronically breaks laws all across the godd**** city. Spilling sewage, cooking meth, violating sound ordinances, violating building codes, inhibiting ADA laws by spilling their belongings into the sidewalk and street, unlawfully possessing firearms, etc. and you have the b**** a** audacity to whine about an actual mitigation tactic being used to keep the city from looking like s***. F*** you, Bill. F*** your ineffective limp d*** “Outreach Program.” F*** off.
This guy is way off base. The Bible says help the poor and comfort the afflicted. Not dooming them to a miserable death on the streets by enabling them to continue using and placing no conditions on them and treating them like helpless idiots who couldn't stand on their own two feet without the patronizing help of guys like Bill. Give them a hand up, not a hand out. It's not rocket science. And I wonder how many of these advocates know this and enjoy their position as saviour and I also wonder how much money they get from the state and what they do with it
Disgusting woman that threatened a school bus full of kids. That white dude is the type of liberal MLK warned us about.
get ratio'd, losers.
This is the women that got on a bus full of Children and claimed she had a bomb and was going to blow it up, then the children that ran away she called “Cowards” are you kidding me? This is who you elected? What is wrong with you!
Bringing on a woman who terrorized a bus full of kids with a bomb and gun. And crying about systemic racism.
These people could not be more wrong. The systemic part of the problem with poor communities especially the poor black community is the welfare state established in the 1960s. That system forced fathers from the home and destroyed the nuclear family. The resulting forced single family homes, now 70% in those communities, has led to massive drug and gang activity both fomenting huge violence amongst themselves. This is exacerbated by the lack of school choice, any school religious private charter or public without teacher Union intervention. None of what these people are preaching will solve those problems but rather will incite additional divisions hatred and violence. This is simply white people making themselves feel good by promoting wokeism while at the same time the very name of their organization pays tribute to a slave holder. Work is good but this is the wrong woke. My opinion
Nailed it.
To be clear, this garbage is ridiculous. Prove anything you’ve stated. Prove it. Remember correlation does not equal causation. Also, Ubax has no business being anywhere near government. She threatened to blow up a school buss in 2011.

Dear Tina, we can tell you're reading your answers...did you guys get the questions ahead of time? And please stop trying to demonize Republicans. It makes you look myopic and bigoted against others, and frankly, the constant screaming of "Orange Man Bad!" makes it really clear that democrats are desperate and have nothing real to offer the people of WA. Caleb, you did a fantastic job of speaking the truth boldly yet without animosity. If this country is to heal and unite, your example shows us the way it can happen. You make it obvious and clear that we can disagree, even very strongly, with civility and respect, and that personal attacks are completely unnecessary. Your responses show maturity and give us hope for the political future of WA, while highlighting just how childish and desperate the Democrat Party chair is. Thank you!
What in the hell is wrong with that Bill Bright? He’s an idiot and why is he on the show… He doesn’t even make any sense

Here's how you know Sawant is worried about a question... she talks much faster and uses the same platitudes about "rich.. corporate.. private..."
I like her.
The civility talk these moderators are peddling is so racist. It only serves the ruling class who don't have to worry about anything because housing, transit, etc.. is irrelevant to their daily lives.
The ruling class??? This city is in control by sawant and others like her. The bad things that are happening (and increasing) are directly related to her. For you to blame others is laughable to the 10th degree. All she is doing is blaming her inabilities on either the wealthy, corporations, or you for not paying more in taxes. She cancelled most all of those meetings (beginning of the video) and she rambled quickly through something unrelated and then when time was up, said "it's not true and I don't have time to explain why." She's a joke and anyone who supports the direction she wants to take Seattle is a moron.
@@jcjbike oh goodie more "meeting" nonsense! Seems that's the only thing anyone can conjure up to criticize her with. Literally every council member has a hard time going to meetings. If a joke is able to attain city wide $15/hr minimum wage sparking a national effort to materially change people's lives as well as take just 35% of her salary and give the rest away to social justice causes then I guess we need more jokes in city council. Joey do the rest of Seattle a favor and go away. You're taking up too much space
@@joshmanley7685 First... taking her salary and giving it to her boyfriend and then deducting it from her taxes is laughable when you consider everything she rails against are people and corporations need to "pay their fair share." Now you either knew what she was doing with her money or you didn't. That means you ignored her tax dishonesty to put forth a dishonest narrative... or you didn't, and you simply have bought into her lies. Either don't speak well of you. But if you want more... I will criticize her utter ridiculous, short-sighted attack on Amazon and the other large Seattle companies with her head tax. If she wasn't such an angry, narrow minded person, she might have been able to get those companies to willingly give her this money IF she wasn't such a jerk and IF she had proposed an actual plan and not just a topline summary with no idea of the costs or outcome. When she stood up at the meeting and proudly claimed she "had no friends that were republicans," that spoke volumes of her poor temperament. She would be far more effective if she wasn't such a jerk. BTW... 30% of her district are registered republicans so does she ignore these people?? She clearly loathes anyone who doesn't agree with her. If that's not enough... her naive approach to the large homeless problem. Her solution is to build (and give away) 11,000 apartments which solves HER problem but she expects others (other than the city tax fund) to pay for it. But when another 11,000 come from other parts of the country to get "free housing" what will she say? Amazon needs to give her more? And if you don't buy into any of that, explain how 70% of the voters in her district voted for someone else in the primary? Clearly you can't tell them all to just "go away." But it sounds like those voters are getting ready to tell her (and her little wing-nut minions) to go away in 4 short weeks. WOO HOO !!!!!
Why are all the moderators older white men?
When the world's richest person sponsors a debate, but it is owned by a socialist.
The free market does not work!!! Thousands of people are being priced out if Seattle! We need rent control so greedy corporate developers aren’t exploiting people’s right to a decent home!!!
I mean, you're making a bold claim with not a lot of substance. We do need better regulations and incentives for landlords to improve the current housing problem we have. But advocating for rent control is like bringing in a hammer when you need more surgical and precise tools.
And that's great for other towns and cities. You make it sound like Seattle is heaven and everything else is hell. If you want to work in a coffee shop and want to live in Seattle, do what they do in NYC. Get 3 roommates and move to brooklyn. (burien) No offense but we shouldn't completely dismantle what has given so much to hundreds of thousands in this city because "thousands have been priced out." That barista is not some protected class of citizen. I mention NYC... I had a chance to move there but I had to factor in cost of living vs. what I would make. I wasn't "owed" a comfortable existence in manhattan, no more than that barista is owed a nice belltown apartment. You and I are both priced out of Medina along the water near Bellevue. Should we demand they build 10,000 apartments and give them away to people who can't afford to buy or should those people build a life in a place where they CAN build a life?? And remember... if that 30 year old coffee barista can't afford seattle today, she won't ever be able to afford it so you are on the hook for paying for her for the next 50+ years. And that's not counting all the other baristas who move here (like they continue to do in San Francisco) that will want you to pay as well. Sorry to give you a much needed reality wake up call but this debate had no hard truths... just a choice between a moron and a guy who is smart enough not to be THAT much of a moron.
No clapping?!? WTF...this ain't high school you old farts. Let the people clap if they wanna clap!! BTW Kshama killing it per usual!!

40:45 to hear Egan’s true feelings about black people
Racist AF!!
Listened, but did not see the issue
That they can thrive in Seattle's small-business community?? The horror...
That black small business owners in Seattle can succeed? Shocking!
"If they put their mind to it". Hard to hear in the video but there was an audible "ooooooooh" from the audience when he said it. Implies that black people don't normally put their minds to things.
Useful video - thank you. Citizens voices are NOT heard because Seattle's middleclass and independent voters have left the building, pushed out by a one-party one-viewpoint (ein volk, eine politische sicht) mob mentality among my own progressive wing. Years ago when I attended my 36th District Democrats monthly meetings regularly, it was OK to suggest constructive amendments to various proposals before the body. Today any deviation from PC progressive orthodoxy is a social taboo, a once "big tent" org is now a close minded radical echo chamber .... very sad and divisive. You do not have to be a clinical psychologist to sense a visceral hatred in the room of any view perceived as not in lockstep with political correctness, pretty chilling and not what I experienced for a decade before as a member. The old Seattle political reform coalition from the 1970's: CHECC, would have zero opportunity to bring people together - the far left progressive wing of Seattle's angry mob Dems would now shout it down and fundraise for Antifa. So what this video does not address directly is the corrosive effect of progressive group think, Critical Race Theory and identity politics in our community. There is a way forward using the tactics of old-line machine politics: a voters club of disaffected citizens who once participated in elections, organized henceforth to vote identically as a block. Do not lie to people - their one centrist individual vote is absolutely useless in radical one-party-town Seattle, however joined together into a political voter's union org that votes all it's collective votes as one monolithic block for centrist policy issues and candidates empowered to support them, and you have the makings of a revolution in local politics, a revival of CHECC in our time. A well organized centrist voters club would be fully empowered kingmakers and rightfully so since in my estimation a centrists group is still in the numerical majority, just having unrealized political influence as disconnected and dispirited non-voters. Centrists and independents care about civic issues and would vote if it wasn't acknowledged to be a futile gesture - when not coordinated with other centrists. I would like to provide the organizational structure to bring them back into local electoral politics, as a force to be heard - "Democracy Starts With You", amen.
I invite you to view this video with captions from RUclips. Is this really "your message"?
