We were wondering the same thing

I was looking for falling fragments also. I didn’t see any. If it was a falling rock how did it maintain that elevation from one horizon to the other. It appeared to be maintaining altitude but I’m not sure

I have been fortunate enough to see a couple of space x rocket launches but this looked different. This appeared to be a guided flaming rock! I have no clue. I’m saying guided because a rock would loose elevation as it falls. This thing just kept going on a single trajectory

Turns out you were right! It was a falcon 9 booster

A servo is twisting the hand throttle that came with the motor. I’m about to release a new video with a more detailed look at the electronics.

I can’t lie. Having a powder keg spooling up to 30,000 rpm between my legs was a little terrifying

I still have the motor and the boat, but we stopped using it. Local officials have turned our favorite, and only island near us into a bird sanctuary. So we no longer have a destination to go to. I will try to get a new video up this summer when it warms up. Thanks for the interest!

I’m getting ready to test it on Tuesday. I believe I resolved the radio cutting out. I also have a crazy idea I want to introduce on how to make it a lot faster without changing the motor!

China launched a rocket last week. The booster hit land and started a massive fire. I guess over the ocean is the way to go!

The motor I have is actually 3,000 watts which is 4 horsepower unlike the manufacturer claim of 7 horsepower. I requested there largest motor and 3,000 watt was the largest

The radio and servos are efficient. I think that size battery should be more than enough for a whole day out.

A lot of guys run the ESC with good results. Just make sure it can handle the load

I love the piano. It sounds fantastic! We use it everyday. I paid 300$ for it, but had some issues. I would probably spend 500$ for a nice used one. Any more than that you should just get a new one

I’m sure you can find a smaller servo that can do the same job. Make sure the voltage of the smaller servo is correct for your project. I remember seeing a few volt options….The servo I’m running now is 65 or 75 kg of torque. I’m pretty sure you will be to find a smaller servo with similar power output but it will more than likely cost more. Good luck. Post a video when your done. I would like to check it out!

It uses two 3.7v 18650 lithium ion batteries. It’s about 7.4 volts.

I believe it. It’s got tons of torque. It gets you up to speed in no time….I don’t have a bow mount on the kayak, but that’s a good suggestion

I’m putting out a new video in the next day or two. I accidentally sank my old motor but retrieved it. I’m reusing that same steering setup on my new motor and it’s still going strong despite sinking and being a year and a half old. Good luck with your project.

Most trolling motors have a little wing nut bolt on the trolling motor shaft that locks the motor in one position. This is for boats that already have a rudder system to steer the boat. The brake on your trolling motor locks motor steering angle in one position and steering is accomplished by alternate methods, either rudder or paddle….I took the wing nut out and mounted the servo to the threaded hole where the brake used to be. You can see the threaded hole and the brake in my video right when the music starts at the beginning of my build montage

You can try it, I’m not sure. The end of the key has something like a ball socket on it. You need to push the key inward and down at the same time and until it snaps into the socket. Let me know if you get it with the cover down. I don’t know. I personally took the cover off of mine just to figure out what was wrong with it. I bought it for cheap knowing it was broken.

I chose the biggest servos I could find because of my large 1500 watt trolling motor, and I wasn’t sure how much effort it was going to take in the water. You can definitely get away with a powerful small servo, however they are three times the cost. If you search they make servos that run off of 12 volts also…. There is a device that steps down voltage, I’m considering doing the same and running my radio off of my backup lightweight lithium ion battery’s that I keep on board in case the large Lipo4 battery dies. Good luck with the build. I’m curious to see how yours turns out.

I chose 8 volts because I can run the radio receiver and the high torque servos with that voltage
