That's one great looking locomotive you got there Randall! 😃
@trainbuffboy4727 Thanks, Cory! It's a heavy one too, definitely my go-to locomotives for hauling long trains on the club layout! Thanks for watching!
The hypotypical line seems to be popular, as some, like the NS one, are mostly gone already.
@TobiasL1000 yeah, and Ferromex (which I almost called and switched my order to) sold out in a flash! I'm curious to see what Scaletrains will follow up with in the next run, hopefully they'll throw a few fallen flag schemes in ( either SP, CB&Q, FRISCO, NP, SP&S, SSW, C&NW, etc). But I like what I've seen so far with this debut run, thanks for watching!
@ yeah me too. Some hypotypical may be difficult because units like the NS heritage units basically would look like a hypotypical Southern/Norfolk&Western etc. Unit
Excellent model, Randall, and a great review. The comparison is always a great talk, too!
@ModelTrainOutsider Thanks, Anthony! Glad you enjoyed the video!
great see you got vlog out kep up the great vlogs thanks for share thanks lee
@@anfieldroadlayoutintheloft5204 Thanks Lee!
I like it to be honest. It would be cool if BNSF did paint one of those into that livery in real life. Sorry to see the damaged detail. I am happy this one has the squared exhaust pod which I prefer as well. All the best, Peter.
Yeah, it would have been cool if BNSF had stayed with this scheme outright! The detail mentioned in the video wasn't actually broken, it had just come detached, and I simply applied some canopy glue using a micro-brush and pressed it back into the slot. Surprisingly, it was actually much easier than I had anticipated. I didn't even need the tweezers to get it back in place and the canopy glue should make for a stronger bond so it won't pop off again! Thanks for watching!
Another nice locomotive.
@@raymondleggs5508 thanks!
I tell you scale trains did a nice job with this locomotive for the hypotipical line. Really nice review on this and I like your Illinois central gulf emd gp30? What brand is that gp30?
@MattKonsol Yeah, they did, Matt! The GP30 is an old Life-Like Proto 2000 model I picked up at an auction years ago. It actually had a bad axle when I got it, but I ordered replacement ones from Walthers, and it's run great ever since! Thanks for watching!
How big is your roster it seems like you have never ending reviews lmao
@michigan__railfan lol, yeah, it does seem that way! But in reality, my fleet is relatively small compared to what others have. Thanks for watching!
@randallellison6421 yeah your welcome
I was told that jacking of the center trucks was to improve traction on the other four trucks which makes sense it puts more load on those axles
@mrv1251 that is indeed what it was for! Unfortunately, the design was a lot better on paper than it actually ended up being as these particular units were known for excessive wheel slip, especially on wet rail! It also didn't help these locomotives were put on trains they were never designed to haul as well as their intended purpose was to haul high speed intermodal trains at 70mph and not dragging around 10,000 ton freights at 10 to 15mph up a 2% grade. Thanks for watching!
Yeah I remember you telling me you was going to get a new locomotive dang that's a et44c4 ain't it in the old BNSF scheme
@Peyton-xr9ku yup, this is part of Scaletrains' new 'Hypotipical' line. This locomotive wears BNSF's Heritage 1 scheme (the first official scheme for BNSF), and the tier 4 gevo certainly wears it well, thanks for watching!
@randallellison6421 wow
The train is stopped at the Crawford gate. What’s going on?
😊 sorry Randall, I fell asleep. I was very tired. You have a train coming this morning at 1:03 went through
@Peyton-xr9ku no worries, Peyton! I was running crews and didn't know the stream ended until I got back
Just had a heritage unit go by
Some great detail there Randall. 👍
@monsvillerailways5736 yeah, this is a fun layout! Also, stay tuned for some changes coming to the Club's O scale layout when the Christmas display starts up! Thanks for watching!
Randall up 1111
Yup, very nice model from Athearn, thanks for watching!
Darn it. Missed it again.
@ModelingSteelinHO no worries, I forgot that Anthony Dodge had a stream today and ended mine early, I'll try to be back either tomorrow or Sunday (last day of the October display) for some more live streaming! Thanks for checking out the replay!
Is it detailed good .
@@thepickn yeah, I mean from photos I've seen of the real ones, they very close! Thanks for watching!
That was easy lol... thanks for the video Randall ;-)
@toddarmstrong.trackside.action Thanks, and no problem!
Yeah - I have a DC rolling road, a programming track and the main layout isolated from one another - run the loco in on the DC, fit the chip, program the number on the programming track and put it on the main layout to run it.
@Valleys56xx cool! I would eventually like to get my layout set up where I can have the programming track set up separate from the main layout and have a toggle switch that can kill the power to the main track when using the programming track. Not sure if that type of setup could still potentially damage the system or not, though! Thanks for watching!
@@randallellison6421 I do program on the main track occasionally but sometimes that doesn't work. So I usually do the set plan. I think I have the same DCC controller as you do.
Very cool, Randall! Nicely shown and explained.
@@ModelTrainOutsider Thanks, Anthony!

Wait? A museum quality steam engine? Holy. Any rumors what it could be?
@TobiasL1000 Yeah, it's been in the works for a couple of years now. Unfortunately, we still don't know what this locomotive will be as of yet as Scaletrains is keeping that info pretty tight-lipped. We do know from past interviews Shane Wilson did on other channels that it will have a smoke unit and synchronized chuff, as well as innovative new features not currently found in HO steam locomotives (which we also do not know as of this writing what those could possibly be yet). While there are no rumors floating around, there have been many theories on various channels. One theory I had personally was it could be the Frisco 4-8-2 "Mountain" type, namely 1522, although that now seems unlikely as Broadway Limited Imports has announced plans to do those locomotives. Other theories have circled around various SP steam locomotives, Cotton Belt 819 was one I heard mentioned, Southern 'Crescent' 1401 was mentioned a couple of times, and the list goes on. The one thing we can say for sure is that this will very likely be a locomotive that has not been done in plastic and, especially, to this level of detail before. There's a lot riding on this project, and Scaletrains really wants to make a splash with it, but as to what it is, we won't know until it's officially unveiled, all we can do is guess and play the waiting game at this point! Thanks for watching!
@@randallellison6421 there is an Interview In Front of a RR Club of the ScaleTrains CEO where he mentioned that the next steamer after the J-Class will be a Berkshire. Then they plan challenger, G4, Big boy and Allegheny. I don’t know in what order. But he didn’t mentioned any museum quality If you ask me they will bring cylinder steam. ESU has released some German steamers in h0 with this function. Also a frog detector like with the actual museum quality is very likely. Metalbody would also be awesome. I don’t like plastic for steamers. Personally I’m a fan of PRR and N&W. Especially the really big engines like a class a and Y6B. We don’t have these here in Europe. Anyway I’m looking forward to a museum quality steamer! Hopefully the price is affordable for me and they bring some rolling stock with it.
@@randallellison6421 Shane Wilson gave the interview. Was a long one about 30-40mins. Couldn’t find the video so fast now
@TobiasL1000 Yes, those particular models you mentioned are from the ex MTH tooling and will be marketed under the Fox Valley line. MTH did make German and European models for the HO 3 rail market (I found this out from Anthony Dodge The Model Train Outsider), which was likely part of the acquisition by Scaletrains, however there's been no word from Scaletrains if they'll even bring those particular models to market, especially given that companies like Mearklin have a stranglehold on that market. While I did mention the future Museum Quality steam locomotive would be done in plastic, I think it's more likely it'll be diecast metal. If they do any rolling stock to go with the steam locomotive (or more accurately, the era it will represnt), it's likely those will be done in the Rivet Counter line.
@TobiasL1000 He also did an interview with Drew at NorDel ModelRR a couple of years ago where he talked about the MTH acquisition as well as the Museum Quality steam locomotive. Not sure if that's the one you were referring to, but Shane went in-depth with their future plans. Alot of what has delayed the release of the first of the ex MTH tooled steamers until now was they had to manufacture new side rods on top of fitting their motors and the ESU Loksound V5 decoders into these models. It's a little surprising the Berkshires will be the second steam locomotive announced from that tooling, it seemed like signs were pointing towards the GS-4 Daylight or Big Boy (the other 2 of the so-called "Big 3" steamers), but if it is the case that the Berkshire is the next locomotive announced, this is actually a good move by Scaletrains, as there really isn't a higher end model currently on the market at the present time (yes, there is Bachmann and BLI that have produced them in the past, but I've heard that reliability is a concern with those particular models), so Scaletrains could get a leg up on the competition there.
Sorry I missed the show, was out at dinner with the folks. Hopefully the next I can join and run some steam with you!
@kylestevens6925 no worries, Kyle! It was one of those spur of the moment things, mainly just to make sure everything was in working order for Saturday. Thanks for checking out the replay!
