Hi Karen Thanks for the video. Do any tie up cords to the lamms go through the warp.
I am thinking of buying this loom. Do you like it and is it easy to thread with shafts swinging about. I have a baby wolf loom and its rather noisy but i am not sure the Julia will be much quieter. The yarn you purchased looks lovely. Where do you purchase your yarn from. Thank you for the video.

Thank you! The thread I used for these towels is 22/2 Bockens Cottolin (60 cotton/40 linen blend). I like Cottolin for towels because the cotton makes them soft and the linen makes them absorbent.

The warp and weft threads for these towels is 22/2 Cottolin by Bockens. The towels are soft and super absorbent. Thank you!

Is this a two-sided block design? I have not tried one but I love the look you are getting.
Hi Ellen, Yes, this is a two-sided block design. It's called double binding. It's a favorite of mine for weaving rag rugs. So much design potential.
May I ask what the foot is you're using on your sewing machine at the 2:59 mark?
Hi Tracy, the foot on my Bernina sewing machine is a Bernina walking foot with the seam guide sole.

How do you like Julia? I was very close to purchasing one and decided it was scary going from a jack loom to countermarche.
I really enjoy the Julia! Countermarch is my favorite way to weave, and the Julia is great for that! I know a lot of people who have gone from Jack loom to countermarch and like it. There's a learning curve, but it's not hard.

I'm interesting to find out about the fabrics you use. Do you go to fabric stores and purchase colors and designs you have in mind for a project? Also, is that a Counter Marche loom?
@@Jill4Today Yes, I do purchase new 100% cotton fabric in colors and prints for my projects. I often find enough in my stash, though, so I only purchase a little more to get started. Yes, this is a Glimakra Ideal countermarch - perfect for rag rugs.

Hi Karen, thank you so much for the prompt reply. I am currently awaiting the delivery of my new David 3 43" loom. I'm very excited to get it. It's a sinking shed so there will be a learning curve but I felt less so than the Julia. ( At one point in my weaving "history" I had a 60" 12 harness. Way too much loom!) I'm amazed at how hard you can bang that Glimacra beater bar when weaving your rag rugs. It shows the sign of a well-built loom!
What a great idea, to weave through such a foundational book. For a relative (3yr) newbie like myself I can imagine this would be such an education in weave structures.
You’re right, it was a terrific education to work through the book. I learned a lot and gained experience in many weave structures.

Thank you! (Sorry, I didn't see your comment earlier) I started with a draft from The Big Book of Weaving, by Laila Lundell, p.148 Alpaca Scarf. I adjusted the size and I used 8/2 cotton in shades of blue for warp and weft.

Hi Jill, I'm sorry for the delayed response. I missed seeing your comment earlier. The project form I use is one I developed for my own use. It's not something that I send out. I hope you have found something that works for you.
