As at the last time we stayed in this type of room (April 2024) it was free (well… included in the room rate anyway!)

We definitely prefer the Prestige Suites on the higher floors (like this one) - we were on floor three last month and the views just weren’t as good.

That’s a shame - it was looking a little tired when we went 18 months ago but it certainly wasn’t anything like you described - I guess that extra time may have made a difference. We did say that if we went back to a Sandals on St Lucia we’d like to try the Grande next time - hope you enjoyed your stay there ☺️

It depends on the time of year - probably about 110/120 miles in winter but more like 150 in the summer. We do tend to drive in green mode (but not green + which is the most economical but a less comfy drive). Sounds like the new models which are available to order from Wednesday will have a longer range though 👍🏻

If you needed to get from A to B as quickly as possible in a diesel car could you do that? Absolutely. It wasn’t how we used to drive to Scotland in our diesel car though. We used to stop for coffee, lunch, a fuel stop and a comfort break. Even if we took a packed lunch with us we’d still stop somewhere to eat it and to stretch our legs. We were trying to compare how long it took us in our MINI Electric versus how long it would have taken us in our MINI Paceman. People definitely could have got there faster in their BMW 320d than we used to in our diesel if they didn’t stop for breaks, in the same way as someone in a Tesla who didn’t stop for breaks could have got there faster than we did 🤷🏼‍♀️

It depends on the journeys she’ll be doing in it - for commuting and days out it’s perfect as long as you have a home charger, it’s just the long trips that take a bit of planning. It’s also a very easy and comfortable drive (when compared to our old MINI paceman).

We knew the Mini Electric had quite a short range when we bought it - it was a sacrifice we chose to make because we liked our old Mini. With a different car we’d have made one less stop but the stops would have been of a similar length so I guess we’d have saved about 20 minutes - it was the traffic that was the real killer!

Thanks for commenting - we’re glad you enjoyed watching. We agree with a lot of what you said - it does lead to a new way of planning and a new way of driving but we quite enjoy both! We’ve got a bit of footage from our trip home but haven’t reviewed it yet to identify if there’s enough there to make it worth us putting a video together.

We’ll break it down into a few different areas in different comments. First, pre-planning: In all honesty you don’t need to do a lot. Download the Sandals app and have a look at the menus for La Toc and Kimonos and decide if you want dinner at them as they’re the two that require your butler to book you reservations (we’d recommend both). Also have a think about if you want to visit the spa or to do any of the excursions - St Lucia’s a beautiful island but it depends how much time you’ve got (and you definitely want to leave yourself time to enjoy the resort and each other’s company so maybe limit it to one or two at most - on our first Sandals trip, which was to Barbados, we stayed 10 nights and didn’t leave the resort). Write a packing list and then delete half of the clothes that you’ve put on it. As long as you’ve got some things for dinner (noting the resort evening dress code for some restaurants) and something to throw on over swimwear for the rest of the day then you’re all set. Finally, find the butler request form on the Sandals website/app (you’ll need your booking details or the help of your travel agent) and fill that in. Let them know where you want to eat (and what time you like to eat), what alcohol and soft drinks you’d like in the room, etc.

Butler: Once we’d got the hang of having a butler we loved it. You’ll likely have a team of three, one of whom you’ll meet when you arrive and who’ll give you a phone to use to contact them. Find out what their preference is - our team in St Lucia liked to be called for all requests, the team in Barbados preferred a text if it was something non-time critical/more complex (eg what room service breakfast we wanted the following morning). Make sure you let your butler know each afternoon/evening where you want seats the following day (beach/pool). Best suggestion is probably to ask them what they can/can’t do to make your trip better when you first meet them.

Pools/beach: If you’re looking for a non-party atmosphere avoid the main pool. Our favourite locations were the pool on Sunset Bluff (near your room) and the beach, depending on what we were in the mood for that day.

Thanks! We’ve had the car for about 16 months now and are still very pleased with it. Our only real gripe is that the switch for the headlights is positioned in such a way that it’s quite easy to catch it with your knee when you’re getting in or out of the driver’s seat!

It still seems to be possible to get the occasional “bargain” but the peak season prices are VERY high!

Ouch! That’s pricey. As much as we love the cabanas it definitely wouldn’t be worth it for the two of us, but I guess with more people the value proposition changes a bit - that’s a much lower $ amount per person than we paid on one occasion.

@@roamsipandeat Thats a good way to look at it I guess. In my mind its going to be our rest day from Disney so having the cabana with 4 kids I’m hoping pays for itself. Cant believe how expensive things have gotten lately.

Haven’t they just! If you’ve got any little kids it’ll give them a chance to nap and it’s also handy to a) have a home base and b) be able to join the virtual queues without having to walk over to the slide. Texting food/drink orders is handy too.

We were really pleased to get it for the price we paid in October - particularly given that it was less than we’d paid in October 2019. Can’t believe how much higher the prices are now than six months ago!

When we visited they only had them at breakfast.

@@roamsipandeat Thank you. I have been all over the Caribbean and I'm not into eating at the al a carte restaurants. They never give you enough food, so I wind up going to the buffets.

Hi Marrissa, If you have a butler they’ll take you in a golf cart or otherwise there’s a shuttle that runs up and down the hill. We found that it was fine to walk down (albeit not in very high heels unless we were only going as far as Kimonos/Soy) but were less enthusiastic about walking back up!

We wanted to show how long the walk was as we’d read a lot about how far the rooms were from the lobby before we went

Also, if you’re after somewhere beautiful have a look at our videos from St Lucia! Based on what you’ve said the nightlife at Regency La Toc would probably be disappointing but Grande St Lucian is supposed to be better in that respect (we’ve not visited - yet…).
