This is really awesome. Thanks. Having worked in radio from the early 80s to 2000 I had the good fortune to meet and interview almost everyone in the band. I even got to spend a couple of hours with Gary after he left REO, before one of his band's shows. He was as nice a guy as a great guitar player. He showed me his prized Les Paul's. It was a great experience. I also met Kevin several times and he was always very gracious. I am guessing the band went further with Kevin's songwriting and singing than it would have otherwise. They played to massive audiences and went around world. Not bad for a band from Central Illinois, my home area as well. I feel bad because I suspect the change in Gary's role helped lead too his decline. He should be considered one of the greats, because he was.

Always, always playing Milwaukee, Madison, Oshkosh. This lineup opened with "Six Days on the Road." They rocked so hard. The REO descent into high school girl songs is parallel to when Gary traded blue jeans for white pants.

ABSOLUTELY my friend ! Please !!!!., Been a Speedwagon since Decade of Rock and Roll 1980, and they would play the live 157 Riverside Ave on my Radio Station, especially when we would call them to request it ! Murphy was much more RAW, SOULFUL, and fun to listen to in my opinion. And none of KC's GIRLY BALLADS that Wrecked this STELLAR band, yet. And '75 was their best year imo, with the "THIS TIME WE MEAN IT " album, that I got when I was 12 in about 1982, and still today have a Japanese version of the cd cover on display, as it's always been one of my all time fave Record covers of all time since the first time I saw it., Love you on Golden Country here Mike., Last I heard, about 20 years ago, you were playing piano in "Billy Vera and the Beaters" band.,.....WHERE ARE YOU NOW......! This is the Holy Grail., and been waiting 44 years to hear this., We need more, Yes.

+Kevin Jokipii Hi Kevin. Funny you found this. It seems very few people know that this was written By Brad "Porque" Baker, AKA "Hotel Bill". We, "Hotel Bill and the Incidentals", were the REO road crew/band. We would open for REO from time to time and do other party gigs in LA for Joe Walsh and others when we were off the road. This is a live cassette, board tape recording from the first time we played it. Stop in and visit our page. facebook.com/Hotel-Bill-and-the-Incidentals-178856278792219/ We have a sticker-guitar pick giveaway going on right now. Hope you enjoyed it.

Yes, this is an urban myth... Song lyrics were written by Brad "Porque" Baker and music was developed by Hotel Bill and the Incidentals. The song was first performed by Hotel Biil and the Incidentals in Stockholm in 1995 when Hotel Bill opened the show for REO Speedwagon.

+hotel bill and the incidentals Very cool. The time I heard it, it was actually in the setlist....I have no idea if they decided to play it off-the-cuff or not, but it remained stuck in my head after all these years, lol... My memory could be failing, but when I heard them do it, it was a little less "thrashy" and a little more "bouncy"....but the tempo was similar, and so was the humorous vibe. Thanks again!
