Welcome swingers, I had 45ish min to myself before meeting up with a fellow detectorist for a dig this day. By far the best 2 relics I found for the day. Happy as a in 💩 with these pieces of history. I hope you enjoy the footage and thanks for watching 👍

"speedy" park hunt minelab equinox 800 11" vs 6"

Caught up with Lisa (speedy reedy) finally for a casual park hunt. We didn't have over flowing finds bags but we did have fun. Sometimes just detecting with friends is better than the finds anyway. Thanks for dropping by, I hope you enjoy.

a lone mission today turned up quite a few silver coins for my effort. running in all metal mode at times to pick out the coins from a heavy iron patch.
An honest day out

tough going for pre decimals today but had a good day out in the sun at a local park.

Rippa hunt mate that park has lots more!!
@@idigthat73 bloody oath
G'day Darren, Ripper mate....that old bloke looks a bit suss😂
@MrPaulie1456 nah he's harmless mate 😂 if you left some stuff there last week we should hit it again soon.
He's redhead mate has been known to go off! Yeah let try to catch up again.
I always enjoy the sight of Silver, the more the merrier! Especially if there a little bit older. And several relics that I'd be very happy to see in the bottom of the hole and in my collection. And well done to Paul, neither of you had a bad days detecting. Cheers Mate! See you on your next hunt! Hooray!
@waynearmstrong5233 love the silvers myself 😍 I always try to get at least 1 each time but if I don't that's fine, the main target is usually pre decimal coins but the silvers just feel a little more special. We both did alright hey. I'm hoping to get out bush soon and find more of the relic type items so the vids don't get stale. Cheers for watching 💎
@@Working925detecting Yep! Variety makes a big difference in the hunt, You don't have much of a choice when it comes to what your going to find. As for coins for me, It's the older the better! And a good relic is always magic to find, especially if you've never seen anything like it before. It can really give you a buzz, although I do get that same feeling with a coin that isn't in the common variety. A bit of both does make for a more interesting hunt. For the hunter and the viewer, but with Detecting, you get what you get! Hope you find a spot that has plenty to give and requires many visits! Cheers Mate!
@waynearmstrong5233 won't be long and they will have a 3D screen on em and see exactly what your digging 🤣 Thanks mate I do too!
@@Working925detecting Ive imagined the same thing about detector development, but I wonder whether it would spoil the surprise! Cheers!
You Making It Look Easy Now 😂. Well done Nice Haul 👏
@@GraemeGraeme-gold haha same as you. Time in the field = success (and some editing of rubbish) 🤣
Outstanding day !!! Happy days. Hello Paul ! 🙌⚒️👍
@lisar8347 was a pretty good dig Lisa, thanks for checking it out.
G'day Lisa!
@@MrPaulie1456 Hi Paul … might see you on a hunt … it’s a super fun hobby and I think it’s also a great community 👋
Nice finds Darren, fantastic tips too.
@@derekthomassen5407 cheers Derek 👍
Nice find, bud!
@I_Ken_Do_That cheers mate 👍
Great finds Luke. Really appreciate the tips!
@@i_dig_it_melbourne I'll pass that on to him 😆
@Working925detecting lol omg..... I was watching👀 that very late sorry DARREN 😂😂😂
Not the pull-tab as expected, great score. Nifty bit of history that has a tale to tell, onya Darren.
@gabivalla6279 no it certainly wasn't haha. Cheers Gabi
Well done on the badge, they are definitely a step up from the common finds, Ive done a few repairs on thin copper and silver finds, by using a small flame torch that puts out a short hot jet of flame directly to the bend in the item, just enough heat to make it more flexible and less likely to crack on straightening, so far so good, I haven't wrecked anything yet, but it is mostly guess work when I do it. The thicker it is, the more heat you will have to apply. Good luck with it. And if it breaks, forget who suggested it to you! Cheers Mate!
@waynearmstrong5233 thanks Wayne. I'll have to give it a shot, I have a few little rising suns now so if I do break it I still have others. And I'll screenshot your comment so I don't forget who told me how to do It incorrectly 😂
Me and my big mouth! 😂
You find some very cool stuff, roadsides are so interesting to do. Good work you two😀
@brunfree often a forgotten spot but can be very productive.
Cracking cadet badge find Darren and liking the tips too. Cheers
@walterscrap767 thanks Walter. Might do a vid just on tips and stuff soon.
Some nice finds from that area Darren and that cadet badge is a beauty.Cheers.
@DetectingOz cheers Gazza, I'm pretty happy with that find. I'll have to do some more exploring there soon. Thanks mate.
Oh yea that cadet badge is fire 🔥
@@idigthat73 100% military display is getting some pretty cool additions now. Thanks mate.
Good tips, Darren, the cadets badge is a great find. We'd worked next door to Melbourne High and would often see the cadets on parade, it did seem odd for kids to be handling rifles, but like your Stawell and Warrnambool examples, these were the cream of the crops for their districts. We passed on selection to Hailebury and our late brother declined the offer to Melbourne High, the nasty primary school thought it clever to try sending us to different schools, as if it were an option. Cnuts! Them's the breaks, but a few years later and we were guest of honour to a society that the teacher were at, and the expression on her face was utterly priceless to me. It was like the fast time-lapse of a withering weed after being squirted, or like the Wicked Witch of the West, ah, ha ha ha ha, my pretties!, after a bucket of water. Cheers, looking forward to further old but current paths to history getting unearthed. I'll request a half sovereign, haven't seen anyone find one of that denomination yet, may you be that upload! Gabi of Narre Warren.
@gabivalla6279 yeah I was a bit surprised to see the rifles in those pictures too. Haha I bet she was 😅 you boys must have got under her skin. A half sov would be amazing! Hopefully if that day comes I'll be lucky enough to catch it on camera. Cheers Gabi
Rip-snorter! (Fairly don't know the reason for the expression, sounds medical, huh?!) Cheers Daz!
@@gabivalla6279 I wouldn't have a clue 🤣
G'day Darren, nice one mate! Cheers Paul
@MrPaulie1456 thanks mate pretty chuffed with that one. Our dig will be the next one to go up 👍
@@Working925detecting exciting!
From WWII?
@paulikarmala yes. Compulsory cadets was suspended in 1929 and was replaced by a voluntary cadets system soon after.
Sorry mate I realised I just replied thinking it was another military badge that I'm about to post now haha. This design was made in 1904 and was worn throughout both wars.
You can say that again Darren, what a ripper
@@walterscrap767 haha love the military finds.
Ripper alright !! Hoorah
Ive only found one of those, and I'm pretty sure I reacted the same way when I pulled it out of the ground! Way to go Mate!
@waynearmstrong5233 yeah they're bloody cool hey!
Thanks Darren and Michelle for sharing your finds, fabulous token.
@@derekthomassen5407 cheers Derek, probably saved the day that one.
Whoa! I must have future vision, RE: another detector! Trouble is this vision doesn't include tattslotto numbers. It was till a good hunt, I think Michelle will be a formidable hunter, So it will be collaborative hunts soon. You had better step up your game Darren, There maybe a new Sheriff in town. Who's quick on the draw! Cheers Mate, thanks for the hunt! Hooroo!
@waynearmstrong5233 if those numbers do come to ya let me know haha. You know she never really like the detecting but now I think the driving force is her competitiveness to find better stuff than me. If I let her keep doing that it means more time we get to go detecting 😉 it's a win/win. Cheers 💎
Ashtray is pretty cool. That would have to be the most toasted coin I've ever seen. 😮
@@i_dig_it_melbourne I reckon, must have got pretty hot 🔥
What a great day Darren. You both did so well. Watch out cause Michelle will out shine you one day. Hahaha jokes. Question about your digger. Is that the detect ed 2 piece one? If so what do you think? Im keep to get one.
@i_dig_it_melbourne that day has come Dani haha she kicked my butt this weekend. Yeah it is. It's a good shovel but the clang noise of it when I put it on the ground is starting to annoy me lol.
@@Working925detecting hahaha The clang noise might annoy me too.
Trio of tokens means a pretty good wknd in anyone's books guys, cheers 👊🏼👊🏼
@idigthat73 yeah they are pretty sort after in my household 😆
That Token is a real beauty thanks to Michelle. Also thanks for sharing Darren and quiet days are familiar to us all.Cheers mate.
@DetectingOz hey Gazza Yeah its a nice one, probably wouldn't have been a video if she didn't find it haha. Cheers mate.
After your latest hunt Darren ,Michelle definitely needs her own detector . Congrats on the token Michelle and your mangled silver Darren and well done for keeping it real. Cheers W&M
@walterscrap767 yeah I think it's going to be the only way I can freely swing mine haha. Thanks guys.
G'day Darren, real metal detecting! Great token Michelle. Take care guys. Cheers Paul
@MrPaulie1456 hey Paul, yeah she showed me how to do it this weekend 😂
Great finds and fun for you and Michelle 👍⚒️👍
Well done Darren and great Tasmanian half token Michelle. The mangled silver I could only make out "IND IMP" so pre Indian independence, most likely .925, we've thought to what the stuffed silver we have might only ever be worth anything as an ingot, of course having carefully checked for rarities, errors, clips. Seems a market for coins that weren't properly formed before stamping the details in the press. Cheers to you both, a new detector would be an ideal gift for yourself, Darren! How's the sharing the pinpointer and shovel scenario looking for Boxing Day I wonder?! Good luck with chancing on or sussing out the treasures out there, stay safe with the glass, may there be more intact bottles, and snakes, none of those, please, thanks!
@gabivalla6279 yeah pretty sure it was an English one. The silver can be taken to a gold/silver buyer like here in geel and worth 97c per gram at the moment for the .925 ones. Haha geez I. Gonna have to fork out for a shovel and everything aren't I?!
That long copper or brass thing looked like the float arm off a float valve from a stock water trough. Good try. Keep trying though and I'll keep watching. Cheers John
@johnhunter1262 yeah you could be right john. Don't worry I'll keep making vids haha thanks for coming back 👍
I’ll play the game buckle or can … and pick buckle each time … so great to see you and Michelle out for a hunt . token alert 👍🙌👍⚒️
@lisar8347 positive thinking I like it haha. Cheers Lisa.
Double whammy tokens ooooh diddy!!!!! (Not Pdiddy) Nice one mate and congrats Michelle on the 3d!!
@idigthat73 🤣 Yeah she really kicked my butt this weekend ey!
lucky bugger,,
Keep up the good work Dad I believe that you will get something incredible one of these days that you are extremely proud of finding.
@RileyNorman-ot8is thanks for the confidence mate, a rare find would be super cool hey! Fingers crossed for that day 🤞
Well done Darren and Michele, some fabulous finds and just by the roadside, just awesome.
@@derekthomassen5407 thanks derek
little extract bottle circa 1915. pretty old. cork seal. interesting fair bit of stuff there. was it a gold field area?
@WharfSomewhere oh cheers for dropping in 😃 thanks for that, I have no idea about bottles. Yeah mid 1850's gold rush town in central vic.
Some great old finds from that roadside area Darren. R.Parker Tokens are the most common type found here,so I'm sure that's only the first one for you.Congrats on the Taylor Token,as I've never found one of those.Michelle's next birthday present might perhaps be a detector.Well done and thanks for sharing.Cheers mate.👍
@DetectingOz funnily enough I was told not many get found here in geelong, they apparently always pop up in the bush though, wierd! Another detector for Michelle or a lanyard for me 😂 cheers Gazza 👍
Well done Darren on finding your first bottle and all the other finds ,like the tokens and you may need to invest in another detector for Michelle just so you can have more time detecting your self. Great stuff keep up the good work and hope part2 will come soon cheers.
Thanks @walterscrap767 the first of many hopefully. Yeah tokens are the best, I think they have more of a personal feel to them and get the mind wondering. And another detector is definitely on the cards haha. Thanks for watching
I reckon I can see another detector being required! Just as well you dont show the wrestling matches for the one you've got! What an excellent spot, Maybe there was a watch repairman living in the area, its unusual to see so many in one place. Coins ,tokens, watches, buckles. What a great way to spend a long weekend! Thanks Darren/Michelle, don't forget to mark that spot with a X on the map, because I'd want to be going back there! Cheers!
@waynearmstrong5233 hey 💎 I think your right, I said to her "we only have an hour, how come your detecting?" 😂 We actually had to work pretty hard for those targets, a lot of time between takes! You can hear my demeanour change towards the end of the vid in part 2 haha. I guess maybe the sides of the road had been done before? Anyway it was an awesome way to spend the weekend. Cheers mate 👍
Magnificent long weekend away part one, Darren and Michelle! A treat finding any token, one from the home town is ace, the WJ Taylor, "Melbourne/Australia" obv/rev half token is excellent, strangely enough there's a mule where it's "United States" on the other side (VF $1250, EF $2000+!), Ansonia watches all in one patch maybe popular traded item, 1888 onwards goes approximately with Michelle's threepence date. Talking of dates, how brilliant to get to access the private permission on the goldfields of old, in good company too. We'd so liked to have bought an old, old miner's cottage and find nuggets while farming some spuds in the giant backyard, one that backs onto a laneway next to a creek, blah blah, but we'd looked at a former 1863 hotel at one point... A good weekend away with a big find and we'd revisit such ideas quite readily. Great relay detecting, and nearly filming all digs, and having mentioned mule coins, would you mind making it a rule that every Australian Commonwealth 1916 halfpenny you find you check it doesn't say "George V King Emperor", pahleeease!! 9 known, VG $45k, F $90k, VF $135k! Looking forward to parts 2 and onwards, visiting places for a night's stay or two, detecting and fossicking does excite the imagination, gold, relics, history, great towns and varied environments, all very different in places too, some places of gold history gives us the tingles. Not quite the Laura Tingles, but us find a rare token or sovereign I just might! Cheers from Gabi of Narre Warren. 👍🪙😳😊
@gabivalla6279 hey Gabi, Yes the tokens were probably the best finds of the weekend, love finding those. Oh wouldn't it be amazing to have a little slice of country in the goldfields with relics, coins and gold in the backyard, I know I'd never leave home! I do make it a habbit of checking every coin when I get home before I clean them, I don't usually like to scrub them with dirt too much out in the field. Yeah a 1916 mule would be a lovely one to find! Thanks for watching, much appreciated 👍
Ripper mate! Some great finds, love those watches, Michelle's thrip a cracker, her own detector for Christmas?😀 Take care buddy!
Great finds Darren and Speedy.Well done! Cheers.
Novel way of checking for nails in a dog! LOL
That was quite funny Darren, dog with a metal addiction and casual attitude of the owner to ask you to give it the once over. Odder the better with finds, gas mask clip was a ripper, or that wouldn't be good losing that one! Had missed adding this until now as saw it in the wee hours and decorum calls for not ruining someone's day from 3am beeping phone alert. Cheers, and happy swinging Daz! Gabi of Narre Warren.
@gabivalla6279 yeah it was a weird day Gabi, nothing would have surprised me haha. I'd be more worried if the hook was found in a combat zone instead of a training facility 🫤😷 All good mate I have notifications turned of anyway 👍 thanks for watching 😃
G'day Darren! That was a great hunt. Dogs did seem to hog the limelight a few times, I cacked myself silly a few times through this vid with the story of the dog, perhaps she should take it to the airport and walk it through there scanner! And the dog tag that was a dog tag but not the dog tag you were looking for! 🤣🤣Hmm! Shades of Starwars there! My mum was in the AWAS prior to joining the army during WW2 But I can't remember what she actually did in that service. Thanks for putting a smile on my dial, enjoyed that, Thanks Mate, Cheers!
@waynearmstrong5233 oh wow that's cool as! I never even knew anything about the AWAS, amazing how much you can learn just by digging up an item and researching it. Yeah been having a few run ins with dogs lately haha. I should have known the "dog tag" was a "dog tag" as it was a surface find. I replayed that part back to the missus when I got home and cracked myself up 🤣 glad you enjoyed it mate. Thanks for watching and look forward to catching up soon 👍
Nice finds Darren, interesting brass hook . You found one of speedy cans😂. Enjoy watching your videos keep up the great work.
@walterscrap767 😁 nah she's better than that. Pretty cool to think of what wierd and wonderful things may be laying in the dirt hey. Thanks for the support 😊
Wow what a great day out.. You can now add xray man to your resume. 😂
@i_dig_it_melbourne 😂 certainly a first for me!
