Live Q&A "How to identify Neuro-affirmative Practices?" with Neuro-affirmative professionals
I think neurodivergent people are more likely to be poly or open. That's why i looked for this topic. I am on the spectrum and am now in a poly relationship(s?).
Why is it always white people?
*that's racist AF💀*
Hiw come so many nuero related diseases have surfaced in recent years?? I know people would say it was their earlier but people thought of it differently but still… I mean the stats are staggering in a short span of time
Very interesting. I’ve known I’m hypermobile since I was a teenager, just never thought it was worth seeking a diagnosis until today that I’ve been struggling with a lot of back and shoulder pain since I got Covid. Could it be completely unrelated? Who knows. I think it’s worth exploring. Also yes, self diagnosed autistic if I’m allowed to say. I’ve never pursued a diagnosis, I’m just too scared to go to a doctor and just get invalidated all over again.
I have maths dyslexia does that come into it
ADHDer here, all I’ve ever been told was that I had to do better 💔
If only born males & females knew we function either.. Masculine=logic, analytic, thinking & mind. Or Feminine=Heart intuition, or guided by & process emotions/feels. Also it’s worth saying too these extra added on satan inspired genders not male or female, is where gender confusing starts not knowing the above, also if a soul is in denial, or in delusion & avoiding their sexuality truth.
Womp
What a mess. Ireland, I love you, but get your shit together. Your country is ripping apart at the seams and all you're interested in is speaking your truth and writing crappy poetry.
Even for people who do not have hearing loss, you may be surprised to hear that hearing aids can be a really effective way to minimise or eliminate this effect... IF they are designed to. That qualifier is important. We can say the same about things like noise cancelling headphones or other devices like Loop earplugs. Buying hearing aids is a big financial commitment so if this is the route you choose and can afford, be sure to carefully describe situations like this to your audiologist and check with them that they understand what you are referring to. Getting this right can be life-changing.
I have mild hypermobility, mostly in my spine and knees, which gets worse when my autoimmune thyroid condition is inflamed. I am recently diagnosed Autistic, GAD, CPTSD, ADHD. When autism hit my radar I dove into researching. I was also having a lot of connective tissue and immune reactivity, which led me to hEDS, and I found some of this research along w anecdotal stuff. My muscles are often very tight and stiff, likely from stress and emotional guarding, but also they can be worse at my hypermobile joints. Could be consequences of compensation for joints that are loose/unstable?
hi Jessica, welcome home to the neurokin family! yes stiff muscles (which some from the outside read as 'nervous' or even 'guilty') are often compensatory for hypermobile joints... not to mention as you get older joints can get from hyperflexible to damaged and worn and combined with constant muscle tightness can lead to being *under* mobile in terms of flexibility. this, at this stage, is still pretty much in the realm of anecdote. research really hasn't got into this much as yet. also yes throid issues (again as far as I know just anecdotally) links to joint pain (and gut pain and brain fog etc etc) flare ups
So many thanks to Jessica for giving her time for this. Possibly the nicest researcher I've ever had the pleasure to chat with
This is such a wonderful interview. It's so comforting to see people dedicated to pushing the research forward and supporting each other. I wish this information was everywhere. Thank you so much.

thank you for raising awareness, we need more people like you. normal people don't understand how debilitating autism is. i find impossible to get along with people. people have unrealistic expectations of me
Love to see what they are doing with the con and you are doing with this channel! :) Thank you!
My daughter has just been diagnosed with Ehler’s Danlos at age 23, she was diagnosed with autism at age 16. Diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at age 20. This video was so packed with information. Thank you so much! I knew nothing of this syndrome, but knew something was wrong her whole life.
does depression count
Really great points, always great to hear people's perspectives and this was nicely said.
🙂🖐️🍀
With her accent, "neurodivergent" sounds like "nerd virgin".
Thank you so much for including diagnoses that are not just ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities. The symptoms of these are the focus of most ND spaces. I accept that common disorders will have more people sharing their experiences but honestly, I didn’t know I was included in neurodiversity until very recently. Actually, this morning was when I found out. There is not much out there on things like acquires neurodivergence, which incudes mental illnesses that weren’t present at birth, trauma disorders, personality disorders, brain injuries, medical illnesses that affect brain health, and more, as you said. I have a trauma disorder, a mood disorder, and I suffered two mild TBIs (one organic, the other inorganic) that may have contributed to or caused some of my experiences. I wanted to feel included in ND spaces but didn’t because the content was focused on neuro-developmental experiences in so many groups. I don’t stim/fidget. I didn’t have issues in school due to curriculum or social expectations. I don’t think I have sensory issues, and I don’t have spen is interests, and I was bullied for things like medical issues and being the new kid, vs standing out in the sense the more typical ND crowd did. I was even told that the term and spaces weren’t for me, and that I didn’t have real struggles since I can function. The problem is, while I can meet expectations and I have no issues with social skills, functioning at full capacity makes my mental and physical symptoms worse. For a long time I thought healing would mean being the person I was born to be before traumas changed my life, but that isn’t the case. So I thought I was just very bad at being neurotypical, because I don’t feel authentically welcome there, either. I mask just enough so that the benefit outweighs the damage now. I don’t think I will ever be able to unmask full time because I wouldn’t be able to pay my bills and meet the needs of my household. But when we look at the whole umbrella, we see just how few true neurotypicals exist. I’d say it’s far from the majority of adults. This drives home the urgency behind changing how the societal infrastructure runs, and highlights everyone we need to include in these changes. I want others like me who didn’t feel included to know that they are and hope to somehow get to a point where I can have a platform.

This is really helpful 💚
Brilliant Kate. So well put. Thank you.
Super short video with a lot of information about my condition. I think it sums up all important aspects. Thank you.
If you communicate better with people who are neurodivergent, I would say you’re most likely neurodivergent.
Thank you :)

I think I may have just found out what’s going on with me. Recently got diagnosis of ASD, and I have super bad heat illness… it takes me out quickly.
Hi. Wish You both Perfect Life... periodically I conduct a survey consisting of one question: "Rate your level of happiness throughout your life up to this point on a 10-point scale, where 10 is the most and absolutely happy and 1 is extremely unhappy" I personally feel at 3-4. I'm male 48. Oficially diagnosed with ADHD and one psychiatrist told me I am OCD type person..., not OCPD, but OCD anxious... Some thought (and it's really fact) I have signs of C-PTSD and Trauma-related OCD (in my case something like Posttraumatic OCD). Complex trauma coused by bullying from school and during life quite often... I feel inadequacy and inferior... sometimes I feel I am alien... extraterrestrial... Those bullying were reasons of my insecurity and low self-esteem... Self-image..., self-esteem are fluctuated. For example I do not hate myself... I love myself, and even do not have generally feeling of guilt..., But I have remorse, not because guilt, but because I was born with some genetic conditions and happen what happen... Nobody guilt around me either (except those who violently treated me, bullied me). I feel deep shame. I am extremely dissatisfied with my results in life. I lost virginity at almost 24... and til 27 I had 3 prostitutes whom I've paid and 2 another women (one was so called"zone-night stand" and a little fling with another'). And... AFTER THIS... 20 years without sex at all. I sit in mental prison. When I turned 47 I went to 7 different prostitutes... I always ruminate and think about standard sex life (not as I have... almost not have). This sexual life is traumatic experience for me after bullying... secondary trauma how one clinitian called it. I not have only obsession about my poor sexual life, but also compulsions which manifest in reassurance checking others sexual life in Internet... watch RUclips and read articles about late-bloomers, late-in-life virginity, adult virgin... statistic of "body count"-s etc.... in general... I'm tormenting myself... Thank You both for video and Good Luck!
I know I’m neurodivergent, but I am so confused on what I have.
Mine is sensory processing difficulties, it's the most common ❤ I hope everything is okay , stay safe .
