I think we paid $200 something each person from Panama City to Bocas on Air Panama.

We did it ourselves with help from our relatives that live in Bocas on Bastimentos. They have the air bnb so we didn’t have to worry about where to stay. We flew American Airlines from San Antonio to Panama City. Stayed overnight in Panama City at the Hilton, which was super nice and totally plush. Then the next morning room an Air Panama flight from Panama City to Bocas. We had to call to book that flight. Then in Bocas you have to walk or get a taxi to the water taxi place and then water taxi over to their Airbnb! It was an adventure and we loved it.

Thanks!! We have started talking about our next Panama trip and we think it will be 2024. We have a long list of things we need to see and do still!

Thanks for the input because that’s a goal of ours on trip #2 to this area of Panama, go find the good diving….the kind that people come to Panama for! I’ll check that site out online and maybe put it on our list for next time….stay posted if you like diving for later this year. We’ve booked a week long sailing catamaran for the grenadines.

Do you mean if there are a large number of them in this area of Panama? I would say nothing unusual from what we saw. I think they have a healthy and normal number of sharks. We only saw them in this very remote and isolated snorkel location and only the first folks in the water saw them. Then, they were long gone! I felt totally safe in the water. We snorkeled out very far from the beach and never saw another one, although I had hoped we might.

And we didn’t get to visit Red Frog! So we must go back it appears….

Yes, but you almost never see them! I did see mosquitos sometimes in our bedroom as we had a mosquito net over the bed. No seums are absolutely a problem! I was pretty impacted by them. When we go back, I’ll be either making or buying a local remedy immediately. I found it the last night we were there. Bought it at a restaurant called Firefly on bastimentos. It is coconut oil with essential oils and lemon grass in it. I don’t know all the particulars but it changed my life the moment I slathered that on my legs!

Well….we just had a great time and now I’ve been having a lot of fun learning how to craft videos. It has not been easy to learn! But rewarding to share our experiences with others. Stay tuned….we just booked a really exciting trip in June 2023 and it will be the topic for our new series starting shortly thereafter…..how does a week on a sailboat visiting the grenadines sound?? We can’t wait! We will share it all with you!

Yes! Although, I’m considering making a video to talk about the cold hard truths of Panama and how Americans may struggle with some of the realities of life there. For me…it was the sanitary conditions involving trash and litter as well as sewage. It was hard for me to lift my eyes from the sidewalk sometimes because I was not comfortable with seeing some of the realities. I’m not criticizing, I’m just being honest about how I struggled. At first, I thought I wouldn’t go back. But now, I have changed my mind and we are fairly certain we will go back. I’ll be better mentally prepared next time!

I’m having more and more fun making these videos!!! We just booked another trip but this year we head to the eastern Caribbean and spend a week on a sail boat around the grenadines! So we will have an entirely new series coming out June 2023!

We brought the sandwiches with us as we didn’t eat before leaving on the trip. We were famished on zapatillo after snorkeling so much so we were thankful for the snack. However, mainly because we were wanting to experience all the local fare had to offer as well as support the remote restaurant, we ordered lunch from them, too! So enjoy sandwiches from super gourmet on zapatillo or anytime you are on bocas! And absolutely get something from the remote restaurant because it will be an experience of local fare and an adventure! We live for food adventures!

Just a note: the lunch isn’t provided. There’s a restaurant that you stop at where you can order food. The tour includes the ride, bottled water & snorkeling gear.

You can book El Pelicano on AirBnB! Any questions about it, just ask! I need to do just one video on tips and tricks for enjoying your stay in Bocas del Toro. Like find the local remedy for relieving the chitra bites, keeping them off. That was my biggest issue while in Bocas.

Yes, that is the airport we landed on...only one here in Bocas. What's cool is that you just walk from the airport....through town...to the water taxi station to go to where ever you need to in Bocas Del Toro, if you are not staying right there on that island.
