Hi Kayla! How do you enter purchases that are on one receipt but they go in different categories on your budget sheet? Like an order from Sam's or Walmart or Costco where you have groceries & health & beauty & household items? Do you have to go line by line on your receipt & separate them out?
Omg such a good question and something I am still trying to perfect 😅 Honestly for me it depends. Very rarely do I sit down and itemize a receipt. More often if it’s just one or 2 health and beauty items I’ll lump it all together as groceries, or if I’m getting a ton of health and beauty items with groceries I’ll make two separate transactions. It’s an art I haven’t fully perfected but my advice is do what makes the most sense/ what is most feasible for you 😊

I am just starting my financial journey... trying to be a good steward of my money & i have tried a couple different apps to budget but i don't really like them for me. Yours is the 1st one i have seen that even resembles something i envision & makes me happy to look at & work in. Can you tell me how you found it or created it? Well hiiii☺️👋🏽 finding a budget that works for you can be so tough! I never tried any of the apps I have just always loved using spreadsheets. Making this spreadsheet was ROUGH, tons of formulas to input and I had to learn a lot about excel, but I have it linked in my description if you want to steal it 😊 Also I’d just suggest checking out different budgets on Etsy , mine is a bit unique because everything is on one page, but if you want something a bit more in depth Etsy has TONS of options Also thank you for the congrats . Options are super limited especially on Hilo side because we are just less touristy . So we’ve got the one mall but the Cinnabon in there BANGS . We absolutely do not have a Sephora or ulta on Hilo side hahah

Hmm, you make a good point! Right now I have a bundled pack that gives me Spotify and Hulu, but maybe I’ll consider letting go of Hulu and just doing the free Spotify. Something to think about 🤔

@@kayla_bowler Groceries will never get cheaper, as have been here 5 years, so I try to buy on sale (even that's $$). Make your best, as the beauty of the island makes up for it. I grow some edibles so that helps.

I live on Maui and yes it’s expensive. I do most of my grocery shopping at Target or Walmart.
Yes I learned very fast that safeway and KTA were big no nos 😂, Target and Walmart have been my go tos!

EEEK!! I love credit card spending and rewards! I also do use two accounts for my spending and my bills. They are high yield checking accounts so that I'm earning the most from my money. AMEX checking is my spending account and the following credit cards are for spending: Citi Custom Cash Card for all dining out, AMEX Blue Cash for all online purchases, gas, groceries, AMEX Cash Magnet is my catch all card for things that don't fall into a specific category. I use Wealthfront as my bills account with the following credit card just for bills: Citi Double Cash Card to earn 2% on all my bills. Thanks for sharing and good luck with all your goals!!
Love your content! I'm definitely an app girlie for my budget and an active credit card person. I use YNAB which helps guarantee you can pay off your credit cards off in full with auto pay without the stress. Good luck with all your goals!

oh YES a huge difference! Groceries are much more expensive and I have a rental car here, but short term housing was about the same cost
I’m feeling like August was unexpectedly expensive and I blew through what I planned to spend. I’ve seen a few of Carter Sullivan’s videos too! Same as Fatima said Carter kick started me getting a handle on my finances as well.
I've had plenty of months like that where the money just seems to fly out of my pockets. Give yourself grace and remember that each month is a clean slate 🫶🏽. Shout out Carter !
It is worth it to go to costco and get meat, and then get your fresh stuff from other stores life Safeway. Also coupon is the best way to save at Safeway. That is how we managed.

I work late shifts so I often start at 15-16 o'clock. Normally I do everything I need to do in the morning like chores and meeting friends :)
