Rhett Miller - Song For Truman Capote
A little underated
Still one of my all time faves regardless of genre! Thanks for sharing! 👊💥🍻 Oops! Keyboardist set the tempo way over!
I remember they played this on Dick Clark hit or miss.
Man, i miss these guys. Kenny you were the best! R.I.P. my friend!
Yep, I'm another one from '83, and this is still a favorite.
CLASSIC
I had the album. Beautiful blue, black, and clear vinly swirls. A dropped roach on the album cover melted the first track.
this guy was briefly my landlord in Dallas circa 1990. Interesting guy. I still have a couple 45s he gave me of The Healing Faith and Bigger Than God. I was influenced by his collage art style.
I like "The Message is You", and "Time to Win".
Gun..what a song..only found due to hells bells religious video
I'd love to see this in 2024......... Great song, I don't understand why this one wasn't up there with Everyone wants to rule the world..
i love this song. finally found it
Killer Italo Disco from the legendary 1983 !
One of the most interesting new songs from 1983 I've discovered recently.
Love this track. I always felt the mixing was poor on the album though and the drum sound it so tinny and dated, which really let what could have been something great.
What ever happened to Gary Myrick ?
how Can this be 17 years ago ?
It was about 30 years ago. Just the video was posted 17 years ago
I loved this song in middle school. I’m 53 now, and watching “valley girl” for the first time in about 40 years. Been waiting to see this again forever. In my memory, the first punk, new wave movie I ever saw. Have remembered it forever
A very dark song..perfect.
Sadly, not widely known, but they were damn good!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
having a party, watching this by myself! thanks. MAGA
The album contains good songs.....but often marred by poor production and drums that sound like a drum machine.
This is like a perfect song. Even now.
This video was filmed with a potato 🥔, in full 180p, but thanks for uploading! :-)
I'm sure there's a way to get the audio from RUclips music these days - this is pretty muddy and in mono. Regardless - KILLER song. 👍
I met Ronnie at Dingwalls in Camden, London in the late 80s. He was a real gentleman and he rocked the house that night. RIP Ronnie D.
Saw Gary perform this and several other songs in a club in Dallas. I brought my Language album and tried to get him to sign it. He wasn't interested in talking to any fans so that didn't happen.
you know I hate it when a band slips passed me, and I don't 'discover' them until decades later.
Love the intro!
The rockabilly influence of Simeon seems to be well appreciated judging by the comments, but lest not under estimate the voice and impact of the late Nigel Dixon, who had previously been lead of UK Rockabilly outfit Whirlwind, who were excellent live. Havanna's later stuff was not as good without him.
Is he singing on this? Nigel?
They played the shit out of this song for like one summer in 83. Texas radio. Z-97. Then you never heard it again. You couldn’t turn the radio on without hearing this song, zebra, or honeymoon suite. All ghosts now. I found the album in discount record store years later in the 90’s. When media changed to cd’s to MP3’s etc, I tossed my small record collection but kept this one album. Still have it. There’s something quintessentially special about this obscure genre that only gen x understands.
I did sound for these guys a number of times in the early 90s, all over the DFW area. They were great.
Gary and the figures were at cbs in 79 was security and every day at work he would play model
I bought this album at a flea market in the early 90s because i liked the album cover. Wow was I sure surprised when I played it at how good every song is.
Heavily promoted in W Michigan by WLAV and others, Dr Simpson I believe
Nigel Dixon excellent !
Ma-ma.... One more time you're Dead man, OK
I was 19 years old and having the time of my life. This is also for me the first time I’ve heard it since 1983. Brought back great memories. Thanks for posting it.
We were friends and Gibby James
Crap
That's my brother turner!!!
Great womens wrestling
I have the album
I heard it on the radio maybe at most 20 times but fell in love with that keyboard intro, and had to wait for RUclips to finally upload it to bathe in the song again and again. Then I bought it from Amazon after I knew who was the singer. It was very obscure for decades.
I have the vinyl 45. I heard it only a couple times on the radio. I liked the sound and liked unknown artists.
Classic Myrick at his best.
Vim ver pelo post do Supla .. top demais papito 🤟💜
Wow, Dave! This is great! Thanks for posting!
The Clash meets Los Lobos..sort of
A wonder song, Many memories in my Life
