Good choice picking a filipina, a much more natural relationship as opposed to dating a Thai which feels very surface level. I've dated many Thai's so I know lol But Thailand is definitely better to live. Wins on safety and infrastructure.

Beautiful couple. They are still looking into legalizing divorce over here. Honestly, I am all for it under the right circumstances because no one should be forced to stay in a marriage where there is abuse, infidelity, convenience of one party or just no love left. My wife and I met outside of the Philippines and took a full year of being around each other at least five days a week before we felt marriage would work wonderfully for us. I would say that when foreigners marry women from here or any other country other than their own, there are always chances of the marriage failing. When they marry for the wrong reasons, rush marriage without actually knowing the woman, taking off the mask and no longer pretending to be the caring older foreign man, these women that have lived in poverty, are more likely to look for younger men in their new country that are not trying to control them with a few dollars. Although it does happen, many times those stories are spread as a scare tactic to justify poorer men not taking their wives back to their countries and realizing that the foreigner wasnt as wealthy as the picture painted. The fear the women will see all those far better options, which would minimize their own feelings of being a desirable man to beautiful women. We spent 9 years in Texas, my wife got her citizenship and a position on the nursing staff at a hospital. We came back here to the Philippines for a couple of years, but are going back to the US in about a year and a half. Sadly, there wont be as many 'opportunities' for Filipinas or any other non-Americans seeking to get education of working for a better life. The thing about prices here being lower is that they are lower for US foreigners... But for the typical low wage Filipino, prices are still high. Its no different than the millionaires in the US thinking that a $80,000 car is not expensive, but the typical minimum wage working American would never be able to afford it. So cost of living is relative to the level of income one brings in.

I always imagined it would be almost impossible for Filipinas to leave their country, and I had this specific idea about how it would be ideal to have a Filipino girlfriend and build a life in Thailand because of the quality of life. But now I realize that maybe these ideas were just my assumptions, based on limited information.

I visited Thailand and the Philippines 10 months ago on an exploratory trip. I don't think that I could live long term in the Philippines. I would much rather live in Thailand. Here's the catch, I like Filipina women better than Thai women. LoL!
