How long did it take for the plants to reach the stage portrayed in the pictures. I am asking because I am 76 yrs. old. If I plant them now will I get a chance to see them grow to look like those in the pictures before I die ? So far I am healthy apart from a touch of arthritis.

Isn't the plant pot too large for all those decorative pots? Shouldn't the rim be beneath the rim of the decorative pot? It would look better that way.

I bought a Chinese Elm from my nursery today. I have learned that the seeds and leaves are edible and that they coppice or pollard well. This means that you can grow it as a fodder crop for your livestock, and I am going to plant mine next to my chicken pen, so that the hens can have shade and also eat all those lovely seeds! Also, a grape vine planted by an elm tree will never get blight! The elm can be pollarded to a workable size and will form a trellis structure for the grape, if pruned correctly (branches trained horizontally). And yes, I did buy a grape vine as well...
