This is not a variation of the Mark 1, the Mark 1 is a variation of the Standard model. The Standard model came first. The Standard model came out in 1949 and the Mark 1 came out in 1951.

I’m a bit perplexed by the “1908” stamp on the top of the chamber. From what I know (and I could be wrong) that area of the gun was stamped with the year of manufacture, not the model number, and what is known as the “First Issue Army” Lugers, the first deliveries of which were not till 1909, were not marked in that spot at all, and did not come with the lug to attach the wooden stock. Marking the year on the top of the gun (I don’t think) began until a few years into production. The comments stating that it is a police rework seem to be valid, and perhaps that is when it was stamped with the 1908.

You usually cannot see the yasurime (file marks) in a 15th century nihonto. The nakago (tang) and file marks look more like a showato, mass made from WW 2.

Acá en Argentina varios modelos de la 1911 (1927 para nostros) fueron marcadas así. Traté de averiguar el motivo y nunca encontré una respuesta lógica. La más real me pareció que fue que eran para el ejercito y no tenía sentido hacerlo. Las vendidas a las fuerzas policiales y a los civiles, sí los tenían ya que había más control con ese tipo de armas. Un abrazo!!!
