Sometimes things don't go to plan 🙃 Flight from back in July during the 2024 Issoudun International gliding competition. The approaching front made the 250km task get harder and harder as the sun was increasingly blocked by the top cover. Fortunately there were enough harvested fields to pick from to keep things straightforward and safe!

The end of the thermal season doesn't mean the end of adventure in gliding! At Dunstable, we have access to the challenging Chilterns ridge. This was my first attempt at crossing the 4km gap between Whipsnade Zoo and the Ivinghoe Beacon in my Std Cirrus.

Nice video. Some commentary would have been useful and given some context.
What are the legal considerations for landing in a field? Is this trespassing? And chance of arrest or citation? I'm interested both legally and practically. My son wants to fly gliders.
Glad to hear your son is interested in gliding! We of course never plan to outland. It is technically trespass (not a criminal matter in the UK) but anywhere in the world we're trained to select fields that don't inconvenience the farmer, such as this one already harvested. I've landed in dozens of fields and being respectful, have never had any trouble. Hope that helps, your local gliding club will be happy to discuss it 🙂
That was a great video , some hints picked up , damm it still can not get the aerotow sorted in glider yet .. with inputs from me ..arff allways overdoing it on stick ... will get there though ..learner / student at hinton in the hedges ...😊😊😊...
