Grayson, I agree with your final assessments. If any game were a game where we need to let the running game go wide open, it's this one. Of course, McCall always has the option to cut loose with the cannon, but let's have our skilled weaponry on the offensive line firing on all cylinders this weekend. And I would love to see the Defense dialed in on the sack attack. Job #1- WIN

Thinking about the talent on offense and the points Kenton made about connectivity between the players, I have to ask Grayson Boone, what is the connection between Grayson McCall and his superstar running backs and wide receivers? Do they get along? Have a healthy respect for one another? Willing to play for one another? Is there any animosity anywhere amongst the offensive players that would be causing conflicts of interest?

I love the brilliance of Coach Anae. The way he explained the offensive struggles so succinctly and how to correct them, even made a novice football fan like me understand what the offensive line needs to do. TEAMWORK.

I don't know a whole-lot but as I looked around I happened to realize, before clemson rose to prominence, they lost, won , lost won, lost ,won!!!

Kenton, I couldn't agree with you more. We need more than just tough talk from the Wolfpack. It's time to show up and show out with all the skills you possess. Again, there's way too much talent on offense and defense to be playing soft and unfocused. There's way too much talent in the coaching ranks to not be better prepared for the expected and the unexpected. Power programs are not going to help you defeat them. That's how they stay power programs. The big picture is to Be about success not only for yourself, but also for your team. Relish in the little accomplishments that help the team succeed. Those happen more often than the explosive plays, although expect to establish big plays as well. No one should step on that field to battle for the Wolfpack who isn't willing to compete at your highest level and play winning football for the team.

I agree Kenton enough talk go out on thr field and execute. No excuses. The qb needs to play like a 6th year player snd and the offensive line needs to block simple as that. If not we'll be a 7-5 or 8-4 team as usual

O-line needs a lot more attention in player development and recruitment. We can all agree the offense needs a lot of work all around. But, the defense needs work also. Why was TN able to beat State's defense with little shuttle passes?

I have really been beyond impressed, both pre-game and postgame, with the resounding support from the vast majority of the Vols Fans. In my 67 years I can’t recall but one other team who had a fan base as classy and knowledgeable. Mississippi State in Baseball became Wolfpack fans against Vandy that infamous year. It takes time to build a powerhouse like the Vols and along with the NIL$$$$ you MUST HAVE THE BEST HEAD COACH And Staff! I lived in West TN during those lean years and my sons were UT fans playing kid football 🏈. They/I watched every game so I’m very familiar with the past. Their fans have a great reason to celebrate now and candidly I’m surprised they didn’t score 65 or more. Our coaches have to recognize reality and live/play at that plane. We can still have a good season but we have to change our behaviors! As everyone has pointed out now our season is in 1 game increments. Go Pack! Thank You Vols Fans for your support!

we are guilty as fans of hyping and being hyped. why would we think this OL would be able to run block? they are the same weak run blockers we've had for yrs. Why would we think our LBs can tackle? They were horrible in the bowl game. Why do we drink the kool aide every preseason? I am making a commitment to myself. I WILL NEVER BOARD THE HYPE TRAIN AGAIN. DD and crew need to prove it to me before i believe anything ever again.

If I've said once, I've said it a million times. Never, ever, believe the hype. To me, selecting McCall was a 50/50 call. State took a chance his brain damage last year, wouldn't be issue this year. Get some QB recruits and develop them. That portal is a double edge sword. These NFL caliber QBs will opt out as soon as they get their NFL Draft projection anyway.

I agree with Kenton: get the best 11 NCSU players (in sync) on the field. The Tennessee loss was out of conference so it doesn't affect NCSU's playoff hopes no more than Clemson's blowout loss to Georgia in week 1. FSU is out of running with 2 conference losses and Georgia Tech with 1 conference loss, 2024 is a great window for NCSU.

Your pick-6 comments: Been a Tennessee fan for 50+ years. This is not a typical UT team. The D line is one of the nation's best. Not the norm. VERY deep. Backups better than many team's starters. Stay fresh w constant rotation. Rotated more each drive than many teams do in a half. I think Wolfpack will do better this season than many think.

I know this was right after the game, so the wounds seemed deeper. But I think y’all are over thinking this. McCall isn’t the only qb that’s going to look pedestrian against UT’s defensive front. And state doesn’t have another team on their schedule that’s going to pressure him like that. State got plenty of talent, plenty of experience. They’ll be fine.

Dig a little deeper. It is the O-line that makes the running back. Jordan got better holes to run through at Duke. Hollywood seems able to do more with less. When the O-line gives Jordan more to work with he will look like a super star. Bottom line, the team needs to team up to make it happen. Good show.

Grayson McCall was the face of Coastal Carolina football and one of their most rewarded players if not the most rewarded player in their history. I know that the Grayson McCall in the NC State Wolfpack uniform IS STILL THAT PLAYER! The day is coming in which he breaks out of this down & out QB/great QB funk. I believe it will arrive this weekend. I believe this will be a bounce back game for him. I believe he will be phenomenal Grayson again!

Grayson, your 2nd whole lotta something question was loaded with telling facts. I don't know football like you guys, but I know I was looking for more energy and urgency out of our offense which never materialized to where we needed it to go in order to have that breakthrough moment where we could build and sustain a series of successful plays to get into the end zone repeatedly. I kept looking for bigger, more explosive plays to no avail. I kept looking for us to create takeaway opportunities like Tennessee created. And I kept hoping for our defense to put more pressure on the QB and establish the Sack Attack on Iamaleava but neither of those happened. At the end of the day, we needed several Somebodies to Step Up and play winning football for us on offense and defense, especially on defense.

To sum up this entire Comment section in one sentence: Moral victories will get you a first place ribbon no matter what the outcome is !! Feel proud that last place will always bring a BLUE ribbon home !!

Grayson & Kenton, I feel like we have the speed, athleticism, skills, and physicality to be one of the most potent offensive lines in the country. Do we have the vision, the want-to, and the know how to execute like a national championship caliber offensive line? This is the point where the coaches and the players have to come to one accord on our offensive philosophy. We are too talented to be performing in such a lackluster manner. Like you guys said, it's time to stick with the things that work well for us and eliminate the nonsense.

12:29 Jordan Waters needs a line the can hold their blocks and have gap discipline whereas Smothers can create even in chaos . If, as we should, make Hollywood our RB1 he doesn’t have the size to handle 25-30+ carries especially if you’re running him up the gut. I assume he doesn’t go bass fishing with CDD so let’s see how long it takes for a substantive change at RB and overall. There’s a lot of football ahead of us with tremendous opportunities and even the UT fans were passing along words of encouragement. All is not lost however, as several people have stated CDD needs to allow his Assistant Coaches the complete freedom to call their own plays/players/game.

Hollywood Smothers should be RB1. It is about winning not feelings. Winning is the ultimate resume enhancer. Also these players now have the UFL as a safety net if they can go from college to the draft.
