Who's Watching this NOW? Because y'all know I am! 🗣🗣🔥🔥💯💯
I’m not any sort of musician but listen intently to Genesis music. This is a freaking hard song to play! It’s so fast….. Phil is amazing as you all know!
Great technique and great kit homie.
At the end is "The Knife", from Trespass. Phil did not play on the original recording. "Some of you are going to die, martyres of course to the freedom that I shall provide!". One great song, still sounds fresh after all these years.
Genesis died with Wind & Wuthering and Seconds Out.. Then, they became zombies, becoming the idols of the Naziskins
He could do it like in 1980
Phil basically showed up to rehearsal and didn't work out the part on his own and probably wasn't practicing very much, this is why he couldn't get the part played right.
Musicians understand the process... and the need for hours of solo practice and band rehersals... Phil is an extreme perfectionist and near workaholic (Tony, Mike, Steve, Bill, Chester, Daryl, Leland and Peter as well really) and was just frustrated with himself. He is actually one of the nicest superstars and very down to earth- they all were/are. Thanks guys for a lifetime of music!
Wow so glad I found your channel! Subscribed for more!
Reminds me of the last audition I went to... and my last ever. Everyone glaring at me like that due to my inability to play like Wilko Johnson and wanting to shrink into the rehearsal room floor 😄 Phil had it all sorted out in 1977 though when I saw them for the first time in Bristol on the W & W tour. What a gig 🙂
Considering his sharp decline, Phil looked like he was in very good shape at this point
Phil has stated that the neck injury happened during that tour, but he played on.. It was the start of all his physical troubles.
Love this! Good cover of my favorite Tears for Fears song. 🙂
Plays that part ten times better than I can
Mike Bordin is so so underated. Unique style (sound and technique)
Liked and Subbed! Spot on! One of my very favorite FNM songs! I've always wanted to front a FNM tribute band, but finding a drummer that can nail them has continued to come up short! You're the first I've seen put out a FNM drum cover, killer job and please do some more from that album!
Thank you!
Nice job man. Seen these guys many times. Nice to see people playing actual music.
We need more good music in the world. Not like ot used to be. I've seen Mr Patton in all his side bands plus FNM many many times. God job man.
Thank you!
I still love this song so much ❤ sounds great
Thank you!
Kit sounds nice. Good job
Thanks!
Jake! Nice drum set. Sounds good. - Rick
Thanks!
This is edited. The drum playing and the ear-monitor throwing are from different sessions.
This song has been one of my absolute favorites since I was in highschool! I'm desperate to have it on all my playlists but I can't find it!! So happy to hear it here though.
Is that a real Ludwig Vistalite?
Yes!
Back in the day, Phil had a legendary quick single bass drum foot, using Bonham's technique and the same pedal - the Ludwig Speed King - which is a direct drive pedal (no chain, no strap). Phil swore by it. Nic, his son, tells a story on Drumeo where got a DW pedal for Christmas and showed it to his dad, and Phil said yeah, but it's no Speed King. LOL! Anyway, Phil hadn't practiced at all before this rehearsal. There's some great rehearsal footage for the 2007 tour shot from behind him playing Los Endos. He holds his own, but it's much less 'busy' playing than on Trick or earlier tours.
❤️ *Promo SM*
Love it!
WOW ❤
eh....the mind and the body need ossessive training to reach the perfection
Very nice cover! Great graphics and perfectly fitting for the song.
Thank you!
I love that you cover these songs! thank you!
Thank you Karen, I appreciate you so much.
Aw, my brother Seth was your FORMER drummer. I still think this song could be a big hit.
Wow. Thanks for uploading this. I saw many of their live shows
Same here. Great band
Love this. R.I.P. Wes
Awesome. Such a sad song
Sweet cover!
Phil 4ever my Drum Hero
Jake, I would love to play this great version of Mothers Talk on my livestream this week. I'm doing a tribute to Tears for Fears. ruclips.net/video/F-oPtkjJrBs/видео.html
Never understood all the comments under this video. It is not a complex rithm and Phil could be just out of practise. His ability to drum were still good back then infact during the tour he played very good (not as good as 30 years before, but still good). He just needed to practise.
If that drum beat isn't complex to you, I guess you have only listened to Frank Zappa and nothing else.
Esta bueno, I like
¡Muchas gracias!
In another video I watched Phil sing from his chair just a couple of years ago - he no longer drums. The effort he goes to to get the tone and inflections perfect is noticeable. A true professional.
Phil tu restes le batteur que toute une génération a admiré sans conditions !!!
I want to present my work, i hope u enjoy ruclips.net/video/kjGCdDW0WmM/видео.html ruclips.net/video/OUSVl87m_9o/видео.html ruclips.net/video/uFG7RqvzVL4/видео.html
THIS IS SO SICK.
Thank you!
yes that was tight.
Hello! I messaged you on SoundCloud and would really appreciate it if you answer. Again, amazing cover!
Sorry for the delay, I have responded over on SoundCloud! Thank you!
he could play the rhythm without any pb
ITS COMING TO HULU TOMORROW.
What a fucking tune
do you happen to have any Speed of Sauce studio recordings still, either from the album or from the Alto Heceta split? it would be awesome if you could put those online!
Whoops, sorry I didn't see this comment earlier! I am attempting to find an online home for them that everyone can access. In the meantime, send me an email at jakemohan@gmail.com and I'll hook you up. Thanks!
