Love the look of your waste system. Any chance of listing the parts and pipe sizes of what you have used to get from the outlet to the collapse pipe please?
It looks like this puts tension on the wheel clamps when you lower, so i would suggest you jack up to remove also, as the tension could damage the last few threads as it comes off, i think thats unavoidable, best jack up to remove.
Great video. Don’t have the handbrake on before you raise the far side ?
Thanks for watching, I have the handbrake on at all times apart from when I am fitting the locks and need to rotate the wheels a little.
@@wardieswobblebox Thanks for the reply. And it’s ok that the caravan moves forward when I drop it down once fitted ?
From what I understand, it happens with and without the E&P, I used to have a lock and level and it did it with that too. It only moves an inch or so but feels like a lot more..
How do you what size vents to buy. Only our vents seem to be same size not two different sizes.
All I did was search for fridge vent covers, in my case, the search term was "dometic series 10 fridge vent covers". I then found the cheapest. Not sure about all caravans but all of our vents have been the same size too..
Hello, thanks for the owners review of the level system. I have two questions and hope you can help me: - what can you do when you battery is broken? Is there a manual function on it? Of yes, how to operate? - In what situation do you use the manual mode of the system? (Except for changing wheels) Many thanks!
I use the manual function when the nose of the van is to high, as some hard standing pitches are high at the front the handset tells you the jockey wheel is to high
Why did you stop on the autoroute for fuel? That’s by far the most expensive place to buy it.
It is the most expensive place but towing a big caravan, we opted for ease and time and the cash saved wouldn't have justified coming off the toll road to find a service station and get back on again. It was an 8 hour trip and it didn't need to be any longer. Thanks for watching and the comment, much appreciated.
A great system, the biggest difference I have noticed is how rock solid the van is once set up, even in high winds and when moving about inside. As shown The main thing to remember is when unhitching, ensure you retain the ability to get the nose down as low as possible, otherwise the system will not activate until it is low enough. On really uneven sites, pads may be needed under a ram to get the height required. It is a doddle to set and store desired levels to cater for shower tray draining, once done, never needs changing and automatically levels to that setting.
It is a fantasitc system and we wouldn't be without it now, for the pads - I've used a scaffold board cut into 8" x 8" squares and painted with fence paint. They fit into a big shopping bag OK and go in the car boot. Must admit, I am looking for a lighter solution but the cost of some solutions aren't worth it in my opinion.
what is the max theyt will lift the caravan if on a very sloping pitch?
Not sure, would suggest calling a fitting professional or looking on the E&P website. I wouldn't want to give you incorrect info..
Where have you disappeared too?
We haven't gone anywhere, just busy with family, home and work and not as active on RUclips as I would like to be. Hoping to change that soon - thanks for noticing we aren't around.
Great video! how do you find the Porto, we pic ours up next Friday
The Porto is the best caravan we have owned and ticks all of our boxes with size and layout. Hope you have settled into yours now?
Thank you for the video, it's great to have a truly independent view 👍 I also have a Bailey Porto & am thinking about fitting the E&P system. The main reason is to make it easier to fit the twin Alko locks & level the caravan from side to side. As front to back levelling is fairly easy, I'm thinking about fitting the compact system. Can I ask why you didn't go for the compact system? Thank you
Thanks for watching and the cracking feedback, I do try to give a balanced view and hopefully you have watched my video on fitted the Alko locks to the Porto using the E&P. I went for the full system for two reasons, first was that I have a little bit of limited mobility and it's just so much easier and second, the full system is so much easier to level at home as I park the Porto as close to a wall as I can and access is a little tight.
@@wardieswobblebox thank you, that makes a lot of sense. I have seen your twin Alko locks video as well. I will probably go with the compact system as it seems to do everything that I need and saves £1k. Thanks again :)
Just found your video. A few questions if I may: Do you have matching keys for both Al-Ko locks? Was this something you asked for, or is it something you can order? When the van settles on lowering the jacks do you apply the handbrake before or after lowering? We have a Swift Challenger 650, and I’m seriously considering the E&P system after watching your other video. Many thanks.
Thanks for watching, we have two keys for the alko locks, I cheated and used my daughter's nail varnish to mark a small blob on one of the locks and one of the keys so I knew which key goes in which lock. Always apply the handbrake and if not level, chock the offside before lowering the caravan back down, it will move slightly which is daunting the first time it happens.
Good video , pleased you had a nice stay but we weren’t so lucky, we were there Easter 2022 when the site was invaded by travellers who had managed to get past the barriers early on the Thursday morning before we arrived and refused to leave. Washing over hedges, toys noise , children, teenagers … The site owner knew the travellers had broken in when we and many others arrived to start our weeks stay for Easter but chose to say nothing, everywhere was barricaded off to stop anyone entering so we asked what was wrong , he said nothing. Just lied ! By the next day there were children running riot in our loo block , water fights, mess , they took over the laundry room . It got very tense. The site owner left them to it for 3 days and we had no information, no advice, no contact from the site owner, we had no facilities to use( obviously we had our own) and were not allowed to use the lakeside facilities!! After 3 days of letting them wreck the loo block near us he closed it. There were screaming, traveller children knocking on our caravan door saying they wanted to buy our caravan. Traveller women walking about looking for any spare grass areas . A huge row and stand off between the site owner and a senior male traveller, cars screeching round the gravel of the carpark and fighting. Police who could do nothing as was a bank holiday and had to wait till Tuesday when the courts opened… security guards bought in who were useless and looked terrified . Then 30 minutes notice on Easter Sunday morning for all of us ( every single caravan) to get off the site as fast as we could as the owner was leaving.. we had to get our awning down and pack up in 30 minutes as we hadn’t seen the email at 8am and we were the last on the site to get a knock on our door from site staff at 9.30 am. We had already decided late on Sat night enough was enough, we would go Sunday but obviously after we had rung round to find somewhere else but then obviously things were out of our hands and it was just ridiculous with the thought of being left behind if we were late packing up. From the Thursday when we arrived until the Sunday when we left the site owner didn’t even have the good grace to call on each of us to apologise or check we were ok, we couldn’t get off site as it was barricaded with cars and pick ups . He had closed the office and on site shop. He was totally unapproachable , awfully rude and extremely uncaring of the site visitors when we even tried to talk to him on the Friday and Saturday he just put his hand up to block us, we had run out of a couple of things but he refused to open the shop. There was clearly history between the site owner and the travellers and the site owner and i think something similar had happened before. On the Sunday with the mass exodus there were queues for us all trying to get off the site and more travellers waiting to come in. It was awful! I was on my phone in the car as we left trying to get in at another site , we were lucky and several of us managed to get in at Ferry Meadows thank goodness. After that the site owner would not answer calls or emails for days , we asked for a full refund but he refused saying he would only refund for the four nights we had not stayed even though he booked us in knowing full well what an awful time we would all have. After several emails he got very nasty, refunded us in full and we will never go back ! He clearly only cares about the money and not his paying guests .
Sounds awful, as I said in the video, I couldn't fault the site but then we didn't have any of the cabaret you have experienced. Hope you give the site another go.
@@wardieswobblebox we would have definitely gone back if the owner had been nicer, seeing him under pressure it was clear to everyone on the site his only worry was for himself and he didn’t care at all about his paying guests and sadly his staff were the same . They all had 3 days & nights to check on us, reassure us, offer to let us use the shop as we couldn’t get out most of the time but absolutely nothing and when i asked to buy some coffee the owner was particularly rude and obnoxious, he showed his true colours so would not go back or recommend the site as its not the first time it had happened and we were told after that its an ongoing conflict and will happen again x
Another great look about thank you. Everyone always talks about Eye Kettleby and I wondered why but your video demonstrates why - great site & great review Rachel & David
Eye Kettleby is great, its just one of those sites where you know what you are getting and are never disappointed. Thanks again for the feedback, it's much appreciated - Heather and Chris
Great comprehensive review. The site looks lovely and the pitch size is amazing. What a beautiful pitch on the waters edge too. The facilities looked top notch too. I have never seen a friendly Canadian goose 😂😂 Some people say the rain was biblical and it’s a pitter patter but me oh my - that was real rain 🌧️ Thank you for the great review Rachel & David
It was proper rain but we love the site, even the geese 😆Thanks for watching and the lovely feedback - Heather and Chris
thanks
Pleasure, thanks for watching
Am I right in thinking that when you arrive on to your pitch, you raise the nearside, attach the wheel locks then lower the van and then use auto leveling?
That is the way I do it, don't know if right or wrong but following the instructions from the instaler on handover. I'm not sure if the system will auto level if you don't lower the wheels first. Also, in addition in raising the wheels on the nearside, I also lower the offside to lift the offside wheels a little so I don't have to chock those wheels.
Hi, what is the best way to remove them once the caravan has been levelled. Thanks.
Hi, you just need to reverse the fitting steps you take to fit the locks, except you do not need to raise the caravan to remove the locks. Thanks for watching..
Another good review, I have been wanting to get back into fishing as haven’t been for years, I think we will look to book a couple of nights in July! Thanks Graham and Claire
Thanks for watching and the kind comments. You won't regret going to Fields End, especially if you are into your fishing. Will hopefully see a vlog from you too about the site 😁
Great video and explanation, not sure I can justify the cost, but I can see the benefit.
Now we have it, I couldn't go back, especially on a twin axle but as I said in the video, we thought long and hard before we took the plunge. Thanks for watching and the kind comment. Chris and Heather

Hello not sure if you can help- we have the same caravan as you but I don’t know what cover size to buy? Which ones have you used? Thank you so much Louis
Hi, they are called Dometic WA300 for our caravan. We got ours from Amazon amzn.to/3zqXXfL - thanks for watching and hope this helps 😁
Great video thank-you. Does the system reduce the ground clearance underneath the caravan? You commented on sleeping policeman, on a twin axle, after the front wheels have gone over the ramp, the van will drop down so that the sleeping policeman ramp would be between the wheels, is this an issue? Hope that makes sense.
Thanks for watching and the comment Dave. The ground clearance for the centre jacks should 100-150mm. Folk will say its not a problem but I always edge on the side of caution and don't straddle the speed bumps like I do in the car, I will always put the caravan wheels over the centre of the speed bump so the axle height is raised along with the jack. Hope this makes sense and let me know if you need any more info.
That’s nearly as much as I paid for my caravan 😱. Would really like one but that’s way too much 🙁
It is much safer to leave the caravan attached to the tow car whilst you jack up the nearside of the caravan to fit the locks. You got away with your method because you were doing it on a level concrete surface. If you try to do that on a sloping pitch the caravan will slew to the right. Once you have the locks on you can apply the handbrake and disconnect the caravan from the car. Guess how I found that out!!
Thanks for watching and pointing that out, I can imagine that this would have been quite unnerving. We mostly pitch on hard standing pitches so haven't come across that yet, but many thanks for commenting this advice.
Hi, this video has just answered my exact question and answered it perfectly too. The E&P system just keeps giving and giving. Thanks for taking the time to put the video together, very much appreciated.
Thanks for watching and for the great feedback, pleased it helped you and couldn't agree more on how great the E&P is..
thanks ...
Thanks for watching..
I ordered E&P at the NEC show, getting it fitted in January, looking forward to it. It is a lot of money, I've been thinking about it for about 4 years :-) Finally decided to go for it. Money was obviously a concern, but where I store the caravan is on a slope, so probably won't be able to get the nose down as such, so probably using manual mode. Thanks for sharing, very helpful.
Thanks for watching Graham, you won't regret it at all and won't look back once you have it. I use manual mode at home to store nose down to stop water pooling on the roof. One thing I didn't put in the video was how to use pads on a slope but I got a scaffold board and cut into 8" x 8" squares, painted with fence paint and use those when on a sloping pitch, they are almost an inch thick so work well. Got 10 blocks out of the board so very cost effective and quite bulletproof, also work very well on a wet grassy pitch to stop sinking. Good luck with the install. Thanks, Chris
Hi Chris Yet another great video . When I do this I also chock the offside wheels so they can't move but I never put the offside hydraulic leg down. Will do that next time. Do you leave all the e&p system down over the winter. I worry that the center legs may rust? Keep up the good work. Dave
Thanks for the support Dave, it's very much appreciated. I do leave my legs down all winter and was advised by the installer to spray and wipe some silicone spray on all of the exposed hydraulic legs twice a year, they get a spray and wipe around easter time but at the end of October, I just spray and wipe away when it gets the spring clean, I use the WD silicone with the yellow lid but others are just as good, same spray I use for the awning rail. Hope this helps - thanks, Chris
Hi Chris That's a great idea to add a length of hose to the floe, better that having the wife come to storage to drain down the system. Dave
Nice one Dave, pleased it helped and thanks for watching.
A great system, also gone from lock n level to E&P which I had fitted just over a week ago, no going back to manual levelling now!
Couldn't agree more, wouldn't be without it now.
Hi Chris, Great video, It never ceases to amaze me how much crud comes out of the pipes. Ive also taken my shower head off and taken home to soak in some descaling solution, was amazed at the floaty bits in the jug afterwards. Take care, Dan.
Thanks Dan, feedback very much appreciated. As I said in the video, I was stunned at how much crud was in that jug and we drink that!! Great call on the shower head too, I'll be doing that this weekend. All the best, Chris
