I got the Rye version in Memphis a few weeks ago. So good, probably the best Honey finished whiskey I’ve had.

Picked up both of these bottles on a trip to Memphis last month. I enjoy them both, but would not get backup bottles. 🥃

mannnn i swear you and i have the same trash palate lol. sometimes i can drink something and pull 3 notes out of it, sometimes i get NOTHING! but i do notice that its only with bourbon. i don’t have that issue with tequila and scotch. for example… orchard house by compass box, with that i can pull 5 or 6 flavors out it. but compare that too something like buffalo trace, i can only get 2 or 3 flavors. i’m glad i’m not alone in this weird sensory battle in this whiskey/bourbon journey. keep sipping man! we shall one day give someone a crazy line like “oh this smells/ tastes like a lovely april morning full of freshly cut grass followed by a cup of coffee and sweet berries from alabama that fell out of the back of a ‘59 chevy owned by mr. jenkins!” haha i’m enjoying your content man!

Nice review. I have the Widow Jane 10 Year which is okay and a few bottles of Widow Jane Decadence which is a dessert in a bottle. 🥃

Maybe try and pick your favorite in the blind , and then go back over them and pick what you think they are . I couldn’t have done any better than that, I’ve only had the New Riff.. Thanks for giving me a shout out .

I have a decent palate when it comes to blinds. But I always match them up to flavor or proof. I have only had New Riff out of those. I think I could pick these out. They are so different.

I love watching blinds but not good at participating in them. Your plastic cups remind of drinking a Hirsch 1974 16 Year Bourbon in a plastic cup, because the hotel room did not have glasses! 🥃

Nice review. New Riff has some solid offerings. Every trip I make through Cincinnati, I stop at New Riff and then walk across the parking lot to one of the biggest liquor stores around, which is The Party Source. 🥃

😂 11:52 😂 I was literally just typing that! “Trashy Palate” I’d almost be nervous to do one with some bottle but picking the order in which I like in order. Then watch the best bottle be last 😂😂😂

Being a kinda new bourbon drinker myself, I have a couple of pointers. When you are getting nothing but alcohol on the nose, back off of it slightly with your mouth open until the alcohol oder is less. When sipping take a small sip, like you are drinking hot coffee. The first sip, try holding it for a second in the mouth. This is called an acclamation sip. This to wake up your palate and get your senses used to the proof. The second sip is the same except don't hold it. This is where you will start to really taste something. If that works, try one more. Since you are not used to higher proof stuff, practice with a sub 100 proof bottle. Don't give up on a pour, let it sit, and come back to it later. Hope this helps. Cheers.
