Hello and welcome to my channel :) I'm Logan, and in April 2024, I purchased a 1988 Chevrolet G30 Sport Van that had been partially converted by its previous owners. My videos showcase the process of personalizing the van and embarking on adventures across New England and beyond with my cattle dog, Nova!

Solo car camping // mishaps, mud, and a fear of bears, oh my
My van (which is currently housing all of my camping gear) is at the mechanic this week, so Nova and I's latest camping trip consisted of a backpacking stove, a 4-person tent, and a slight fear of bears.

New channel here. In the process of making more videos got some cat videos up and one of my other half snowboarding back in the 90s that he doesn't do any more. Love the van you got a lot of work to put into it but it'll be worth it in the end according to my other half. Everything comes a time in moderation. Liked subscribed. We live in the Pacific Northwest as well up here in Washington close to the Canadian border up near Mount Baker. Hope to see more videos and a build out of the van remember pallet wood is free and you can use it break it apart and use it sand it down.

Talking about fears while camping, especially in a remote spot, is SO real! I wish more people talked about this because my first time dispersed camping was terrifying-I jumped at every sound. Honestly, though, I'm more scared of running into another person than wildlife lol. By the way, I highly recommend Napier Sportz SUV Tent. I have the 84000 Model, and it makes me feel way more secure. You can sleep in your car and have a whole tent setup, plus if you get scared in the middle of the night, you can just close the back door. It’s a bit pricey but totally worth it!

It seems pretty odd that it looks like you're driving on the opposite side of the road in a right-had drive vehicle, but you were actually filming with the front-facing camera on your phone, which is making it look backwards! Hopefully, you'll be able to have these clips flipped!

Just wondering how many miles are on your van? Mine is also the Chevy chassis and just rolled over 100k. Nova is a beautiful girl. Stay safe ✌️

Gonna be a lot of fun. I need a bed that is always made up and ready to go, wastes a ton of space, LOL
@@cabracove honestly if my van was a blank slate I think I would do the same thing! The previous owners built the van in this set up, and the electrical system is inside the benches so there’s not much I can change without seriously reworking everything!
@@loganrosemccarthy Understand. It's not worth it at this point. I have a 4x5 aluminum slide under the bed, but all that space is only accessible from the back. The upside is I can carry a ton of water and firewood. The downside is having my electrical system in the front wastes even more space. I'm mostly happy with it though. Putting a hi-top on it gained a lot of upper storage I still need to build, LOL Safe travels.

Pro tip: During the day cover your cooler with a sleeping bag, the ice will last a lot longer. How old is Nova, the mellowest heeler I've ever seen.
Ooo great idea! I actually just bought a 12V fridge that I’m hoping I can show off in my next video 🫣 So I might not need a cooler for much longer! Nova is turning 3 next month. Camping makes her a little nervous sometimes because of its unpredictability; you get to see some of her crazy side in my newest video! She’s definitely likes her creature comforts haha

Growing up, my dad had the exact same blue Chevy sport van as you. So many little things that I see in your videos that brings back a flood of memories to me, like the door pulls, the steering wheel, the center console, the little wings to flip the rear windows open, the handles to open the front windows, all the little details. I grew up camping in it in NH on the weekends. It’s so nostalgic to me. Thank you for sharing 🥲

How do these newer Volkswagens do? Are they money pits or prettily realiable? I ask cause there’s a beautiful one for sale by me & im looking for one right now. But don’t know much about them? If anyone knows please let me know. Thanks and dosage travels.
I only rented the VW van for about a week, so I can’t speak to its long term reliability. In the short term it was great! I recommend bringing the van near you to a trusted mechanic to get their opinion. Best of luck :)
