Walking on Sunshine - Musical Freestyle Entry - Kyber
Your routine is so happy and sweet! Love the theme and you and your pup performed it so well!
Feed your dog
Nice work! The out-of-sight stay was especially impressive!
Looks like fun!
Feed ur dog
Dog is not skinny It's his structure and confirmation And it's fit, it's not meant to be heavy, know your breeds
wahoo, I could never get Che to go into a tunnel!
Happy Windsprite starting his Freestyle career. So cute!
This routine was adorable. The dog is a young Windsprite just starting his competitive career. I was so lucky to be able to watch it live.
I think he's looking great!
LOVE the Jump!
Happy that your dog can side step but this vid should not be labeled "Teaching" as there is not teaching at all.
That was really nice. I held my breath just *watching* these exercises. I love like little game you have of having Risa go under the bridge to get her attention back.
Awww you and your dog are amazing performers!!
it works a lot better if you go slower on down. Basically making the dog smell or try to get the treat so eventually it is laying down.
Nice job!
LOVE THIS!!!!
I'll bet you I'll get my dog to understand a nod means affirmative, and will use it appropriately in communication. This is not a complicated thing to grasp. It's no where near as complicated as other things dogs can do.
Certainly dogs are smart. I never said otherwise. It's just they don't have the comprehension of affirmative or negative in the same way a human does. A head nod, to a dog, is simply a trick. You could certainly train it and associate it with a cue or phrase that would elicit a positive response in a human, but dogs cannot comprehend human language in the same way we do. No matter how smart they are. And dogs are a lot smarter than we give them credit for. :)
I realize they are about as smart as a 2 year old kid, but that's still pretty smart. I have no doubt a dog can learn to communicate affirmative and negative responses to questions. My dog gets my attention & I ask her to show me what she wants. She walks to the door or to the milkbone box to show me.
You don't. Dogs don't comprehend human communication in the same way we do.
How do you get the dog to associate nodding his head w/ communicating an affirmative?
toomany demonstrating, not enough vids actually teaching...
@dosdoggies Last year. We haven't had any really this year!
Happy Holidays to you two too. Was the snow video from this year or last year?
Looks like a lot of fun!
So cool, Risa!
Looks like your trial went good! Looks like she had a pretty good time too and not too stressed, good job!
Great job of Stage 2 BAT!! Can I post this on the FunctionalRewards website? -Grisha (I don't check the email account that RUclips has, so can you contact me via facebook or the FR website?)
@dosdoggies Some bounce is fine for competition, actually. We do musical freestyle, not heelwork to music, so we can get away with a bit of extra enthusiasm. Plus, once we practice more and the toy is actually out of the picture for competition, the extra bounce will disappear.
Risa's to cute, love the bouncing though it's probly not the best for competition.
looks like she had a great time.
Looks like she had a blast,
Great Job, you two!
@elmhorse Her bed is a bit small but yes, she does curl up small enough to fit in it!
Risa's such an eager girl! Thinking in, on, outside and all over that box! Say, is that her bed in the background--does she curl up that tiny? Or does it just look small from the angle?
@nancyspore Thank you! Risa is a joy to work with. :)
this is lovely training...
I really love this one, Jamie! It's nice to hear what didn't work for you and see what did. Nice job, ladies!
@m1ssymay Not at all! How does one learn without constructive criticism? ;-)
Do you mind some friendly advice?
@flybybutterflies Dogs who like to sit all the time have been trained to do so (whether the owner knows it or not!). Ris' default position is a sit. I tried to work on shaping a back up with her but couldn't get her to stand up long enough to click for backwards movements. :-(
@flybybutterflies Risa will only remain standing if I cue her to do so (and even then, sometimes she doesn't). She understands that backing up is a standing exercise so she doesn't often sit during the process. There are some occasions when she will start off scooting backwards in a sit but she usually finishes in a backing standing position.
@flybybutterflies Remember, Ris lived with guinea pigs for most of the four years I had her. I was just very cautious about having them together and the piggies were never on the floor unless Risa was secured. ;)
Cool Risa! That looks like fun fun fun!
Aww, Risa, too cute!
