These “tubeless compatible” tires aren’t exactly tubeless compatible
I’m doing what I should have done long ago. These Rene Hers Rat Trap Pass tires say they’re tubeless compatible but I disagree. The air seeps out of the sidewall casing and they’re always going flat. Watch me throw some good old fashioned tubes in there and take it for a spin. Enjoy!

I'm selling my favorite bike.

This one is bittersweet. Parts of this bike were on my very first road bike that got me into cycling in the first place. It has been a good friend. But I haven't been riding it, and it deserves to be ridden! On to bigger and better things. Enjoy!

The Best DH Mountain Bike Run in CT is a Mystery!
a man's trash is another man's treasure
Thanks for sharing this video. I used to own one back in 97 but without the suspension fork, purchased at Valencia Cyclery in SF using my very first $300 that I earned working at Mcd’s. It was my pride and joy, I used it everyday to go to school then to work. I kept riding it til 2002 but then I outgrew it so I decided to buy a GT Avalanche. I kept my VFR in storage for a few years til my little cousin asked me if he can borrow it, he fixed it up but he sold it right after. I got so upset because I had no intentions of parting ways with that bike. I regret letting my VFR go, I had plans of upgrading it in the future. I’ve been looking for one to restore just like what you did but unfortunately, life just kept getting busier and I just can’t afford to find and restore one. Seeing this bike fully restored brought back so many memories of my youth. Thanks again 😊
Bike: thanks for your ride. Have an nice day with me.😊
I use tubes with my 700x44 best tires I've used.. pump to 75psi and I ride anywhere, road gravel, single track!
Nice bike 👍do you know what year it is?
Bro rigged his bike for a finner repair literally took it to the dumdsite then came for it😅😅😅😅
Are you still using these? Thinking about getting the Rat Trap Pass extralights for road/gravel but wondering how they hold up
I’m trying to place the year and I’m guessing 95 or 96. I had a 98 flame paint vfr stolen from me in 2017, I just got it back Wednesday and it’s still really clean for a dumpster find that got stolen. Love anything gt dyno and midschool
Thanks for this. I’m going to have a go at my old GT BMX.
Nice work ❤
Hell no. Plenty of bike parts out there to build your e bike. Why f up a cool old survivor thats cool AF.
70s beater tough look
Awesome! My girls help me with our bikes. Good to see another parent teaching.
Yes!!!!! I’m thinking of doing the same to a black & chrome 54. I would love to see a video similar! Far out🤩😎
Sick rig
Its like seeing bubbah get a mosin
Nice tracklocross
Love this bike build please showcase
Great job
What did you do for brakes?
It's a fixed gear so no brakes
I have one just like it, same color. I'm making a 26" old school BMX bike out of it like we used to do to our paperboy bikes back in the day.
There's a guy here in Huntington Beach California hes got a couple of them Vintage electric bikes
Beautiful bike. I have a baby blue Schwinn Deluxe tandem I’m getting ready to cleanup & your video was quite helpful. Thanks
More footage of this bike pls!!!!🥰
Well done, I have a mid 60's purple tandem with a 2 speed hub in back. Maybe one day I'll give it the treatment like you did.
Hilarious
My dad just dropped off what looks to be a '73 Schwinn 10 speed for me that was kept in a shed by a friend of his. I'm hoping to restore it after watching this. I've never disassembled an entire bike before...any advice before I start, besides take notes and videos of the order of parts to refer back to? 😅
Hey! Sorry to see this so late. My advice is to start small with individual parts. Don’t disassemble the whole thing at once. Just get it riding then you can go deeper once ya build confidence. Good luck
I love it that build ,that green frame and the handle bars the 26 wheels is just fire ...amanzing you are top shelf fella 👍
Really supple tires are normally never tubeless compatible, I find using tires with a stiff sidewall such as Pirelli cinturato working great as tubeless.
There was a very spoiled kid in my neighborhood growing up that had one of these VFR's. I remember on the day he brought it home brand new, he came up to us and said "I don't like these tires, I want different one's" and he proceeded to do a bunch of hard stops and locking up the rear brakes until it burned through the tire and popped the inner tube. Sure enough, his parents went out and bought him new tires the very next day, ugh. Anyway, it was a solid bike that rode very nice and at the time (in the 90's) I do remember seeing a lot of other kids with VFR's as well. They were pretty common back then. Not as cheap as a big box store type of bike but not breaking the bank either for a decent name brand bike.
I use to do the same thing with tire when I wanted new ones.. except I had to pay for them… (thanks for making me learn dad), lol
The Twinn looks great, man. Awesome job! I have a '77 Twinn Deluxe in the same color blue as well! Like you, I pulled it all apart and cleaned it all up thoroughly, regreased, etc. I agree, these old Schwnn's are an absolute pleasure to work on. It's true what they say, "they don't make 'em like they used to". I ended up going with the tan gumwall tires and added a nice wicker basket to the front to match for a classy look to it and my wife and I LOVE that bike. Such an absolute pleasure to ride around town.
That bike came out beautiful
Damn there was a Panasonic bike locked up in my old neighborhood just rotting away I wonder if it was worth anything
!993 Dyno Nitro had that bumper fork on it.
damn! I wish someone would throw away something like that in my country
That's a great stater bike
Good stuff 👍🏼 Where’re the new vids at?! What state are you out of?
MTBMX ... are so much fun to just ride. Did a similar buld on a rockhopper and its one of my fav. bikes
Cool bikes man I feel everyone needs a klunker in there life ... can't wait too see what you do next
Raleigh Grand Prix! I had one new back in the 1970's nice to see one given a new lease on life.
I just did this a few days ago but instead of dish soap and water I used Mothers polish and ya it also cleaned up very nice
Awesome build! Just curious to know how those chain stays are holding up after riding around on them crimped like that? I am throwing a winter beater together (crmo steel mtb) and ran into same issue trying to squeeze wider tires on. I’ve already dimpled/crimped the chain stays and seems to clear fine now. I’m just hoping it holds up from the nasty potholes around here in Minnesota… wish me luck
Loving the knob-less tire! 😂
Enjoyed the video. The Raleigh build too. This stuff's right up my alley. I bought that same Nishiki new in 90 or 91 I believe. My 2nd mtb. First was the previous Colorado a year before which I passed on to my wife when I bought this one.
That looks nice.
Good job bro I like what you do ❤️❤️
Sweet dude! So do you have plans to upload any new builds? I actually found your channel a few weeks ago and really thought it was cool man
Awesome! Yes, definitely. I’ve just been out riding bikes all fall so I’m behind on builds but I’ve filmed a few and they’re on their way. Thanks for watching!
@@knowthatbike3435 awesome man can't wait to see what you got in store for us!
U pull the wheel forward then put the chain on and then pull the wheel back to tighten the chain and tighten the screws on the wheel!
Dope AF
Great Video. I have a 77 Schwinn Tandem. Same Color that I will be doing a light restore on this winter. Thanks for the tips.
Good luck have fun!
