Best bait to use for catching catfish

Best bait to use for catching catfish
You forgot bluegill as a live bait, I use them all the time and catch monsters, they work.
The last one is live minnows/small Bream. Bluegills are a type of bream
Hot dogs in dirty gym socks. Never fails
I’d almost rather not catch fish haha
Chicken marinated in red Kool-aid. Any flavor will do. Thought people were full of it but it’s been the most reliable I’ve ever used.
That’s a classic. I’ve heard that my whole Life but I’ve never tried it. It’s so popular it has to work haha
Why not use catfish food?
Like the dogfood type stuff?
Yup
I’m confused on how well it would stay on a hook
@@Allthingshuntingandfishing idk maybe put it on the inside of bait I guess?
I would give it a try at least
The fact bluegill isn’t on here is horrifying
The fact number one literally said live minnows or bream. Bluegill are bream.
@@Allthingshuntingandfishingthat say brim tho not bream
Catch blues big enough to feed 6 with some frozen shrimp from Walmart
Live Minnows 👌
Agreed
I prefer chicken and coffee
That’s a new one for me. But I bet it works!
Bass as bait
You’re gonna ruffle some feathers with that one 😂
Cut bait the best bait for catfish , especially flat
Overall I agree
I use shrimp
Shrimp is super popular in the comments
Frogs
Gotta try that for sure
I use blue gill
Best choice that there is imo
In my opinion liver has to be like top 3
It’s pretty solid but. I think it is a couple More drawbacks. But it is a classic that I’ll still use until I die haha
I use shad. But I have buddy’s that snag nice cats on shrimp mixed with cherry koolaid
I’m a shad guy myself. But it’s always fun to have that one friend who always makes a concoction to use as bait haha
With garlic powder and mix it up and shake it
I think it’s incredibly effective it just doesn’t have the longevity like cut bait. But I know for a fact it catches fish.
You sure your chicken liver the best I catch catfish everyday with chicken liver
I caught a 10.7lbs (pb) flathead recently with a bluegill head
Can’t beat a classic bluegill head. Nice job!
What if u shoot the power line and lt explodes
I’ve never seen that happen. I’m not saying won’t or can’t, but in all my years I’ve seen countless birds shot off of the like and nothing bad ever happens. I choose not to do it because it isn’t very sportsmanlike.
Cut chub
Can’t beat it
Chicken hearts are my favorite the have lots of blood and smell. Every time I youse them within 2 to 3 casts you catch a nice catfish you should try it!
I will definitely add that I the list to try!
Yheah it works really well, much better the chicken livers and worms.
Life sun bass
Sounds like it should work!
If chicken livers are hard to keep on the hook, what are hot dogs?
Hot dogs seem to stay on the hook much easier until get saturated and soggy. Gross I know haha
My favourite catfish bait is spoon
The sumo spoons are pretty effective!
Dont over look virginia the state is producing great bucks every year as well as some big bear now days
That’s very true. I think Virginia and NC are sleeper states that will get real popular soon
Pike county illinois was a legend. Most counties in illinois are better than those now days. Pikes been over hunted for decades now. Going off the record books, then yes your list is correct. But after hunting pressure flooded those top counties, other people took notice and we stopped registering our booners to the record books. Like a lot of people now days dont enter them into the record books.
I agree with you. Wisconsin really pushed B&C submissions for a while. Which can kinda skew numbers imo
@Allthingshuntingandfishing yes I agree with you there too. Your video presentation is very great quality and informative.
Thanks brotha! Just trying to keep folks entertained and make it all about the outdoors. Thanks for the support
NOPE... NOT even close!!! Here's myTop-30 list in order: 1) Wisconsin 2) Illinois 3) Ohio 4) Kentucky 5) Indiana (Sleeper!!!) 6) Missouri 7) Michigan (Sleeper!!!) 8) Texas 9) Iowa 10) Kansas 11) New Jersey 12) Pennsylvania 13) Maryland (Sleeper!!!) 14) Georgia 15) Alabama 16) Arkansas 17) Mississippi 18) Nebraska 19) Oklahoma (Sleeper!!!) 20) Wyoming 21) Louisiana 22) Tennessee 23) South Dakota 24) North Dakota 25) Montana 26) New York 27) Virginia 28) Minnesota 29) South Carolina 30) North Carolina
That’s a pretty comprehensive list. Looks pretty good!
@@Allthingshuntingandfishing: Just trying to keep it as real as possible. EVERYBODY in Wisconsin enters a B&C/P&Y Buck if they take one! The rest of the list is hit or miss for entries, unless it's an EXCEPTIONAL Typical or Non-Typical Buck. I know of several people that have taken NICE Bucks in several different states that would make the P&Y 3 year, and all-time list that have never had the rack officially scored... Including me! Let's face it, most people's trophies are in the 130 - 160 class (and those are GREAT Deer in most states), and those deer are taken in High Pressure Public Hunting Areas... NOT Private, High Fence Hunting Ranches!!! I take most of my 130-160 class deer within 15 miles of Major Cities (Cincy, Indy, Louisville (and Southern Indiana), Memphis (and Eastern Arkansas), St. Louis (and West Central Illinois etc...). I look for the hardest place to get to that has water (Creek or River Bottoms), that the locals will NOT go... Sometimes a set of Chest Waders, or a Jon-Boat are your BEST Friends! The town of Orangeburg, and Orangeburg County SC is a GREAT place to hunt BIG Swamp Bucks' So are the swamps in Sumter SC! Central and Southern Indiana is a hidden gem when it comes to the numbers of 140 - 160 class bucks! Maryland's outer banks are TOUGH as Hell, but there are some BRUTES for the taking if you're willing to go deep! If you don't mind the terrain, Pennsylvania will give you a good chance at a nice deer, and New Jersey, well let's just say the locals can be your Best Friends with the crowds and all the commotion they create! Anyway, Good Hunting and Fishing to you and yours!
Thank you my friend! Good luck this year!
New Jersey over virginia....naw come on...look closer at virginia
@@mikel.4885: I'll stick with New Jersey... It's smaller and more compact than Virginia, and as I said earlier, the local Jersey CROWDS are like hunting with dogs down south... They hunt in PACKS and drive more deer away into hard to get to places... Places the locals won't go! Virginia is VAST and has some GREAT Places, but the KNOWLEGABLE Local Hunters KNOW those places and hunt them exclusively, leaving the out-of-town visitors precious few places to hunt for the QUALITY Deer that are in those areas. Virginia reminds me of a North Carolin/Pennsylvania hybrid type of place to hunt. Lots of mountainous terrain with good pockets to hunt and some that are damn near impossible to get to! Don't get me wrong, I like hunting Virginia, but with my type of hunting (close to Metro areas), a lot of Virginias (TOO MANY), have figured it out too. They get all year to scout, and I only get a week before the hunt. BUT I say GOD Bless them, they deserve the success they've earned!!! Have a good season in the woods!
These tips don't really apply in the UK
I’m incredibly unfamiliar with fishing in the UK. I wish I knew more about it though. What’s the bait of choice?
@Allthingshuntingandfishing Depends what your targeting. Smaller carp up to 10lb most people go for an orange wafter with a method feeder. Over 10lbs use a lead clip and hair rigged pop up and tiger nut.
Maybe you could make a carp fishing video about the UK one day!
Interesting. And yes I plan to expand into different niches in the future. So a UK carp video will definitely be out there.
Funny enough I’ve caught my most fish this year mid day
Do you tend to go more during mid day? Most people are.
#1 and #2 are absolute bullshit
For the experienced angler, maybe.
Ai ahh fishing tips
Commenting ahh to boost engagement
Where’s 4 and 5
Cali and texas
No i meant that u already said 3 states but what are the other 2 best fishing states. Bc u said top 5
How about leechs
That’s a new one for me. But I bet it’ll work
@@Allthingshuntingandfishing what’s best for flatheads except minnows and night crawlers ?
Bluegill in my opinion. Live bluegill if at all possible.
@@Allthingshuntingandfishing goldfish should I use them on bobbers or bottom fish the minnow
I wouldn’t use goldfish personally. Availability and possible invasiveness lead me away from them
Idk if it’s as good but in northern Louisiana. You can’t go two steps without seeing a squirrel the size of a small dog. They’ve gotten huge over the last 20 years.
That is a crock pot’s dream haha
The best bait is whatever the fish eat naturally.
Agreed. However catfish have a very diverse food source
Hot dog
Can’t beat it
shart
can’t even use any of these baits because it’s illegal to fish with anything other than artificial lures
Where is that? I’ve never heard of that.
@@Allthingshuntingandfishing maine after august 15th i think it is you can’t use anything besides artificial
Interesting. I had to look that up. Looks like after September 30 you’re good to go
@@Allthingshuntingandfishing just found out that you can’t use artificial lures in rivers and streams so ponds and lakes are fine so looks like we’re going cat fishing tonight! which bait should i use?
Me personally, I’m a cut bait guy!
Good tips, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Bacon is by far the best bait and it stays in the easiest and it’s the cheapest
That’s definitely one I’ll have to try.
I used for catfishing is fresh from the store beef liver works great
It’s much hardier!
@@Allthingshuntingandfishing Yes indeed but it works good here in Indiana in the river😀
@@Allthingshuntingandfishing I get my beef liver at Walmart here in Indiana
W list 🎉
Thanks bro!
In Montana the mule deer get massive. There’s like 5 by 5’s all over towns and stuff. If u go into any town u will see mule deer or whitetail deer in a parking lot or public park. There’s also so much in the wild
Shrimp always seem to work great!
It sure does!
Another thing to keep in mind is that when you set the hook, when you're reeling , and when your landing be gentle and don't pull too hard. crappie have paper thin mouths and you can easily pull the hook right through their lip.
Absolutely. Can’t land em like a bass for sure.
Where’s stink bait my family uses it all the time and it never fails
Stink bait is a very reliable classic.
Appreciate the tips. New sub from my channel to yours!
Thanks buddy! I’ll follow suit.
I cought a crap on the smalest spin fishing rod
I bet that was a fight!
Idk if yall have tried koolaid chicken, but I’ve caught some slammers with thigh meat and cherry koolaid, stays on the hook better then liver, and doesn’t get snatched by panfish like worms. Best bait is life fish, I always bring a creek rod and a rooster tail, catch a small fish, then hook it up and catch a water heifer
I believe you’re on to something. Good call
I love stick bait
Stick bait is for sure a killer
